Guys, the low-rep users are getting angry that their fecal submissions are getting deleted, and they are coming back in force, we don't have enough man-power to hold back the tide. Thoughts?
each deleted fecal submission is replaced by three more.

erm. what?
what site is this?

The backlog of flagged as non-answer flags is 1100 now.
And it's been growing for a week.

I'm not sure I understand.
Are you just talking about NAAs?

In the upper middle of the screen, a button shows, if you have enough reputation, I think 20k, that lets you moderate the incoming "flagged as not answer" flags, and vote to delete them.
This queue is 1100 in size, biggest I've ever seen.
I've reached my quota, and I'm wondering if anyone else has a plan to fix this.

[ SmokeDetector ] Few unique characters in answer: Bootstrap .dropdown li background color by user5503296 on stackoverflow.com

2:06 PM
ah, neat. I didn't know there was a feature for that. Is it part of the new design or something? It's not on my site afaik.

I have 31000 reputation, so I think only I get to see what I'm talking about. it's a big orange button that's in the blinking orange emergency mode.

screenshot?
I highly doubt there's anything blinking on that page.
@EricLeschinski Ohhh, do you mean the review queues?

I'm not a big Stack Overflow regular, but I doubt there is any "plan" for reducing it. It is just natural growth of the site..

2:12 PM
yeah, ok that thing.
What queue is so big?

it's OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the number in the screenshot is just over 1,000.. not 9,000.

I remember when 20 or 50 meant it was time for the community to get back on the tillar.

either way, if it's the very low quality queue that is so big I'm sure it will go down eventually when one (or more) of the SO moderators go on a flag handling spree.

*tiller

2:14 PM
@EricLeschinski haha yeah. Stack Overflow tends to have exponential growth though xD

So back to my original point.... Stackoverflow has a serious problem, the low-rep users are getting sick and tired of their fecal posts getting deleted by us, and are re-posting their crap.
So we delete it, then they re-post it.
It's a battle of who can click faster. A feedback loop

are you sure this is all reposts? They should get answer blocked by the 3rd answer.
More likely it's just that Stack Overflow is huge.

@EricLeschinski It's less a problem of who can click faster, because there's power imbalance. If we couldn't just block them, it would be a problem, but we can.

2:31 PM
@EricLeschinski To clarify, that isn't all posts flagged as "not an answer", that's all review tasks in all queues. "not an answer" flags only appear in the Low Quality Posts review queue, and there they are mixed in with posts flagged as "very low quality" as well as all the ones identified by system heuristics.
There are currently 673 posts flagged as "not an answer", which is way higher than normal in large part because a number of diamond moderators have been inactive at the same time due to various work-related or personal matters drawing us away. This will come down as we work at it.

And I'm about to go on a flagging spree and add to that queue.

Also, there seems like a higher number of incorrect flags in there lately. I think I've been declining a higher percentage of these over the last week from people who are using them to destroy competing answers to theirs or are using them in place of a downvote on incorrect answers.

@BradLarson you've got a serial NAA-poster: stackoverflow.com/users/5503391/vikas-goyal

2:48 PM
Handled.

Sounds like it's under control then. I need to work on my reputation so I can get my ban-hammer thumb of smite.
A giant thumb materializes from the clouds, air force one attacks it with no effect. The thumb of smite squishes you, then de-materializes.

@EricLeschinski Low rep users aren't that organized, nor persistent.
There's the occasional troll that comes along, but they're super rare

3:05 PM
Like this one: stackoverflow.com/questions/33416917/… No code available. User expects us to read their mind. Low-rep user, question includes: "It doesn't work", and request for "help or pointers". It's just an all-around bad question, not about programming. The burden of deleting and moderating these has become a full time job for an army of people. And it's only getting worse.

It got marked as a duplicate in 33 minutes, seems like the system is working
