Since you have glass (thus $$$), I'd go with a hmm... a Titain or two in SLI, hefty PSU, watercooling, lights, Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu dual booted, SSD, etc.

You can put Windows on a Mac if you really want to. And my current dev machine I got for $500, a year later it's still worth maybe $400.

I love my iMac. It's an 09 machine and does everything. And macs are supported for OS upgrades (free!) for a looooong time.

Anyway, that's my thing. You can tell your parents that a random kid on the Interwebs with a funny hat told you :D
