It means it's for topics that others may not want to be directly involved in. Anyone and everyone can hop into chat, and discussions may be at a point where the topic or the discussion itself is uncomfortable or may be uncomfortable.

By having it in here, people can either choose to come in and participate and leave without feeling like General Chat isn't welcome for them.

i've been feeling really depressed lately. and I'm worried because last time I felt like this I tried to kill myself

@Catofdoom2 That is what the hotline is for as well and they'll likely be able to get you to other more valuable and relevant resources than I or others here can provide.

But being low and depressed is okay. We've all been there, some of us further down the others.

I'm not being flippant and your emotional responses are real. You just need to listen to those responses and work on getting help. There is no shame at all in help.
