I always develop in FF/Chrome and then do the minimum work necessary to make it work in IE. I'll ALWAYS take an acceptable compromise across browsers over having to insert ugly hacks to make something perfect across the set.

@ChrisCudmore me too - Firefox first, quick run through on Chrome, if it works in chrome, then it should work in Safari. IEx last to clean up the mess

usually if it works in firefox, it works in chrome unless i'm doing some really crazy javascript, at which point, it almost certainly will not work in IE

anyways, the point was, we were updating windows 7 pc's in the office and it installed IE10 - some website some of our employees use, a important feature of the site doesn't work in IE10, so i had to force compatibility mode

why should i as a sys admin have to do that? you as the web developer should make sure the site works in all major browsers - or - force compatibility mode yourself

I wouldn't mind so much if it was "Standards mode" and "Experimental mode" That way we could play with the newest and latest and greatest features before they get absorbed into the standards. But every browser should have a "Strict" mode that we can rely on.

no, every browser should just follow the standard - period. no interpretation, no leaving it open for creativity. every browser should work exactly the same. differences in browsers will then be features; plugins and addins, speed, design, etc... the actual rendering of a page should be mandated the same across all browsers

@lsiunsuex the problem is that HTML, etc, aren't written by people who know how to write standards (like, say the ITU, etc) so it gets loosey-goosey

Can't work cause of chemo sickness.

@Aaron depends on the distance. For 240V/30A, you can go about 110'

to go longer requires larger cable

or lower amperage
