Ok so development... we have 3 players - a Dark Elf Monk, a Dragonborn Paladin, and a Dwarfen Barbarian.
The Monk is a pilgrim looking g for adventure after being traded to the monastery as payment from her parents, the Pally is untrustworthy, and the Bard is not smrt
This is going to be perfect

@Ben I don't expect The Bard to be smart, I expect them to try to claim they are not the reason there's an angry rock golem girl that tries to crush them and only them... Or do you mean Barbarian? Conan wasn't smart either, but he overtook a kingdom... and he was a thief before he skilled in Barbarian...

9:51 AM
anyway, I get the feeling nobody plays Changeling at all on the stack - or my questions are too esoteric. my last 3 questions only manage to get 140ish views combined, which is about what a mage question seems to get on average on its own. L5R seems to get abotu 100 on average, Vampire is about twice as popular...

Barb* haha

@Ben Bar Bar Bar, Barbarian.

11:03 AM
@Trish I bounced off the The Lost version (the non-old version) and never played the original unfortunately

@AncientSwordRage Yeeea, CTL and CTD are nothing alike...
@Ben βάρβαροι? I vote to rename them to to People from Huà wài zhī dì - Lands beyond moral influence...

Q: Does the Wizard's Spell Mastery spells need to be prepared as a Wizard or can they be "known"?

MivaScottAt 18th level, a Wizard gains the feature Spell Mastery. It reads: At 18th level, you have achieved such mastery over certain spells that you can cast them at will. Choose a 1st-level wizard spell and a 2nd-level wizard spell that are in your spellbook. You can cast those spells at their lowest ...

12:59 PM
@Trish I hear they're some of the more disparate splats
Did anyone have an opinion on a Grung barbarian focused on grappling?
It's D&D 5e, so I'm probably going to multiclass fighter (battle master), but otherwise I'd pick up the tavern brawler feat at 4th level

1:19 PM
@AncientSwordRage Roll this on the mutation table (1d1000): 020 Crown of Flesh (and then roll a 1 for tentacles!, Tome of corruption, p.36); 841–845 Tentacle-like Arm / 846–850 Tentacle Fingers (Tome of Corruption p.52).... OOOR, nurgle mutation (1d100): 76–78 Tentacle-like Arm, 79 Tentacle Fingers.... OOOR Slaanesh (1d100): 77–78 Tentacle-like Arm, 79–80 Tentacle Fingers...

@AncientSwordRage Being a small grappler might not be ideal, means you can't grapple Large targets
Did you have a Path in mind?

2:01 PM
@Trish mutation table?
@Someone_Evil not sure between Totem (mechanical, but probably not optimal choices) or Zealot (mainly flavour)

@AncientSwordRage That looks to me to be Warhammer stuff

Small grappler is not ideal, but I mainly want to poison people... I'm not sure if grappling is necessary but it sounds fun

Hmm... the poison skin trait has some real ambiguity with when and how often it triggers (= forces the saving throw)

2:19 PM
@Someone_Evil Yep, I very dont like it.

A first time during a turn or something like that seems like a good fix (bring it up with your DM)

@Someone_Evil Yes, that's how I ran it.

It's still a very strong trait, poisoned is no joke

@Someone_Evil it totally is.

@Someone_Evil Yeah, I think the race falls into the trap of having strong effects and big drawbacks, that makes it really unbalanced if you can mitigate the draw backs.

2:28 PM
@AncientSwordRage As Someone_Egil spied: That's WHF-RPG 2nd edition material

@ThomasMarkov Yeah, I'd probably put some resource on the poisonous skin trait as well. Limit the amount of poison they secrete in a day
Don't think I've had anyone interested in playing it though, but there could be several reasons for that

@Someone_Evil Could be good for one of those proficiency times.
Or 1/short rest for those that prefer :P

@NautArch On a short rest makes more sense to me.
It needs time to recharge.

3:00 PM
RPGbot.net has some good advice under the Grung race, that follows those ideas
I'll probably suggest to my GM if I need to use this character (it's a backup character idea)

> As some quick fixes, I recommend reworking Poisonous Skin to use a DC equal to 8 + Proficiency Bonus + Constitution Modifier, to work once per short, once per or long rest, or potentially PB/long rest like many racial features as of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes being released.
Adjust the damage to increase by 2d4 at 5th, 11th, and 17th levels to match cantrip damage increases in order to keep the damage relevant rather than relying entirely on the Poisoned condition. That makes it an occasional tactical option similar to the Dragonborn’s breath weapon rather than a persistent mechanical an
That feels balanced to me

I disagree with the damage needing scaling, it's in addition to your normal damage so seems fine. Having scale is probably workable too, though

@Someone_Evil I think at PB/long rest is good, otherwise too much?

Yeah, with a limiter you have room to have it scale

That's good to know then

Q: Is my homebrew Hiccupera spell any good?

NachtI have designed this spell: Hiccupera 0th-level transmutation Casting Time: 1 action Range: 60 ft Components: S, M (a spoonful of sugar) Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes Classes: Druid, Bard, Sorcerer You point at a creature within range and wiggle your finger. The creature must succeed...

Q: Alchemist's Fire and Burn it! Critical damage

zen'navI am aware that there were quite a few questions about the interaction between Alchemist's Fire splash damage and Burn it! feat. However I think one thing remains without an answer: what about critical hits? Normally you don't double the splash damage, and you would double the status bonus to the...

Does anybody have the pdf of the new spelljammer books? I really wanted to use the starlight apparition art for one of my games but I can’t find it on Google anywhere…

@TheDragonOfFlame we don't share pirating links in here
Have you tried looking up the artist?
Or using Google lens?
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you were asking for a link, just making sure there wasn't any confusion from anyone else

11:23 PM
I take it you don't have access to that via DDB then? Their version is pretty high quality

@AncientSwordRage No I don’t mean pirating I was hoping for a screenshot
@Someone_Evil thanks, that didn’t show up when I searched
