@divibisan Hi!

GNS theory is an informal field of study developed by Ron Edwards which attempts to create a unified theory of how role-playing games work. Focused on player behavior, in GNS theory participants in role-playing games organize their interactions around three categories of engagement: gamism, narrativism and simulation. The theory focuses on player interaction rather than statistics, encompassing game design beyond role-playing games. Analysis centers on how player behavior fits the above parameters of engagement and how these preferences shape the content and direction of a game. GNS theory is used...

Hiya!
How’s things here?

I am slightly panicking since it's just sunk in that I will be graduating high school

@bobble Congratulations!
(I’ve still got two years to go)

but ahhhhhhhh graduating ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Ben
5:11 AM
@bobble That can be read in two ways. "Ahh" being fear/stress, or "Ahh" being relief/calm
For me it was the latter
In graduating, that is. I understand for you it's the former.

On a semi-school-related note, today I learned that COVID distancing procedures don’t stop first graders passing on the stomach flu. I learned this when my little brother came home with the exposure notice and said “two kids in my class had to stay home today! They have stomach flu!”

Ben
To which I would have to congratulate you for having such a mature view haha
@BardicWizard I was expecting that to end with "I have stomach flu" with the same level of excitement lol

@Ben I know, right? All hail the four early elementary horse people of the apocalypse: stomach flu, pinkeye, hand foot and mouth, and lice!

Q: Techniques for hiding dice rolls when an NPC/enemy has advantage/disadvantage

BeefsterIt's common to hide die rolls as a DM and there are some advantages to it. The problem is that they can still hear two dice or see when you're rolling twice. Although it's rarely useful to do so, you can't hide advantage and disadvantage. What techniques are there for rolling twice for advantage ...

@BardicWizard ....don't make me nostalgic for communicable diseases, please.
To avoid them, though, coming from generations of teachers? One of the simplest ways to reduce contamination vectors is to have your own pen/pencil. Never use anyone else's and never share yours.

5:50 AM
@BESW COVID almost made me miss kindergarten, specifically one memorable week in which nearly all the kids in my class got the stomach flu at once. One day there were only three students in class (the next day there were two, bc I threw up that night).
Then again, we got almost a year with no exposure notices, so that’s pretty good

6:49 AM
I just got reminded of the pre-made PCs for the DFRPG adventure "Night Fears," and how they all have the shared aspect Not a kid anymore.
I may drift something like that into Traveling Librarians.
I hadn't settled yet on whether I'd define an age category for PCs but making them youths would definite fit some of the other themes and inspirations I'm working from.

7:25 AM
@BardicWizard Back in my days of student association activities, we had this tradition of going to a lodge in the woods every January, in the deepest winter, with the old and the new board and other "officials" to bond and share knowledge
Only for one weekend, but this one time, that weekend was well-enough to kickstart a small epidemic that rendered a lion's share of our most active membership incapable of student org work.
Didn't exactly have many events that January :>
Not that January is peak activity season anyway: usually there's the lodge trip for the officials, and a January sauna, but that's about it. I think we pushed together the sauna although not that many people could make it...

@kviiri that sounds like some real horror movie nonsense

@Carcer yes :D
The lodge trip was one of my favorite things
I like rural surroundings, friends, and beer. And copious sauna biz

7:46 AM
If Copious Sauna Biz isn't already the name of a Star Wars alien somewhere in the expanded universe material, why not.

8:21 AM
:D
Well there's already Teräs Käsi
A rare occasion of Finnish being the "just pick something exotic" language

2 hours later…
10:02 AM
@Ben Yeah. Was a fun ride, but I couldn't figure out how to beat the (non-underwater!) headless creatures, and haven't tried the semi-secret boss near the end.

10:28 AM
@kviiri Finnish get used as inspiration for the conlanging community quite a lot
from what little I've seen at least

@AncientSwordRage I would reckon --- Tolkien used it quite a lot and I think he's quite a star in that community ;)

It's an agglutinating language with vowel harmony, whats not to love?!

aye ^^

@kviiri that too
I'm quite enamored by the idea o trying to make a sino-swahili pidgin language
swahili class prefixes + chinese (not sure which variation) words sounds like an interesting way to start

10:46 AM
Swahili prefix classes are neat, though I don't remember them by heart

@kviiri me neither
it's probably in my top ten languages to learn somewhere after Arabic and Sylheti
and "Top ten languages to learn" is in my top ten "most ambitious lists" :D

yes :D
I'm currently trying to learn Swedish, it's the native language of my partner
though she also speaks mostly-fluent Finnish, it feels nicer if we can communicate with each others' most expressive languages
Swedish isn't very hard for me. For one, it's Germanic so shares most of its grammar, and a lot of word roots, with English. Plus it's an official language here, and I've taken classes in it at school, so I know the very basics
But my vocabulary needs expansion, I sometimes mix up word orders, declension of some words doesn't come naturally to me and occasionally even spelling is a bit of an issue

11:42 AM
@kviiri you probably speak more swedish than I speak Arabic and Sylheti combined

12:05 PM
@TheOracle i've written out a big ol "system matters, actually" answer for this meta. that's the first time in a while i've written about that.

I wondering what music plays when you enter Meta, @doppelgreener ?

[brain starts sifting through the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure soundtrack]

@kviiri To accompany that trifecta (rural setting, friends, beer) there's a song: Life is Good, Beer is Great, and People are Crazy

@AncientSwordRage The overture to William Tell, Rossini ...

12:23 PM
@KorvinStarmast I think mine might be 'Lets get ready to rumble'
@BESW I'll have to listen at home

@AncientSwordRage Mine's the opening guitar riff to Honky Tonk Women

@BESW aw yes the Later Aliigator soundtrack is extremely good
that's actually one of my favorite ones from it even
XD
who am I kidding I like all of them
seriously though if anyone is looking for an extremely wholesome game about Aligators where you play minigames and try to find hidden objects around the different areas this is literally that game

12:45 PM
Warning (having reached that part of the game myself recently): there's a completionist aspect to the ending such that if you complete most but not enough of a certain part of the game, you get an ending that's distressing in a way the rest of the story didn't really prepare you for. The other two endings (less complete and more complete) are great.
@trogdor I have added a few tracks to my Big Playlist of Randomized Excellence.

Q: What class/racial abilities or spells cause vulnerability in other creatures?

Sam LacrumbI am looking for ways to cause my opponents to be vulnerable to the damage I deal in combat. Ideally I would like it to apply to any damage type I am dealing in the moment, however at this point an...

@BESW I made my obligatory tweet about mouse guard earlier
::looks:: or maybe I didn't?

@ThomasMarkov Where is Debilitating Barrage from?

Way of the Drunken MAster

de billet?

wait thats not right

1:23 PM
@ThomasMarkov I found it on Cobalt Soul, which is homebrew?

oops, thats the Cobalt Soul one nvm
It occupies that weird space between official and homebrew where we find the Critical Role material.

Yeah true, but UA is probably more official than it
And then there's the League of Legends (Bilgewater) stuff which I don't even know what that counts as XD

@Medix2 Id say no, since Cobalt Soul is actually playtested :P

@BESW Thinking of trying an oregano pesto...any ideas for additions?

@NautArch was about to send a beer recommendation, but nvm.

1:28 PM
@NautArch @BESW was talking about Carrot greens t'other day

You mean like other greens to mix in, or non-green additions like ginger and black pepper?

1:39 PM
@Medix2 I have that stuff ready for my salt march campaign, and one of our players found a bilgewater cutlass a while back. (I loved the original gangplank, not such a fan of barrel gangplank)
@NautArch FWIW I'd add some taragon to sweeten it a bit; oregano can be bitter when there's lots of it

Why did you vote to reopen the exotic races q? @KorvinStarmast

that q is a dumpster fire

Looking at it it still seems 1. incorrect 2. unclear. Am I missing something?

@Akixkisu I voted to close, I thought. What?
This morning.
Yes, I voted to close this morning.

1:44 PM
@ThomasMarkov Nine hours ago I was asleep, in bed.
This morning, when I saw it open, I voted to close it.

Nine hours ago is when the final vote was cast

Post Reopened by vicky_molokh- unsilence Monica, RevanantBacon, KorvinStarmast, Mołot, ValhallaGH
Is what the activity says.
Was curious, since you usually have great judgement, so I thought I might have had missed something.

casts fast friends (stole it from @ThomasMarkov)

@Akixkisu Whatever happened last night during review queue has been purged by sleep.

Oksy :)

1:47 PM
Let's slow down on accusations and unfriendliness. It is what it is.

@KorvinStarmast Wasnt done in the queue. But who cares. I vote all the time then dont remember what I did.

@NautArch oof, I intended neither.

Let's just move on to why there are so many upvotes for closing it, but no closure votes :)

I miss things and ask people when I value their judgement.

Or talking about whether @ThomasMarkov Is going to kill a dragon tonight.

1:48 PM
@NautArch I voted to close it this morning. Has that vote been removed? What?

It now has 2 close votes

@KorvinStarmast Mas! Mas!

at what point to we just mod lock the Q?

@G.Moylan We dont.
We're equipped to handle this just fine.
Voting rules favor closure anyway. It will work itself out.
Wait no they dont

@NautArch Please move my Stop Now post to the trash, I am being over grumpy. Off to get coffee.
@Akixkisu Apologies.

1:50 PM
It'll be fine, youll see.

1 message moved to Trash

@KorvinStarmast no worries, sorry if I came across rude :)

@ThomasMarkov the constant close/reopen cycle makes us look like a bunch of petty fools. The Q hasn't even been edited meaningfully since it hit HNQ

@KorvinStarmast DOn't know what you're talking about. I saw no post! I see nothing!

@NautArch Thanks, amigo
@Akixkisu Nah, me being too grumpy, not you doing something wrong

1:51 PM
@KorvinStarmast excellent idea for the coffee

@G.Moylan Goodness, I hope community moderation working itself out doesnt make us look that way.

@ThomasMarkov Normally I think it's fine but it's at least clear clear we're squabbling over it. I would think the proper way to handle it would be to duke it out in meta and then touch the Q a minimal number of times

@NautArch One reason is that people already voted. Another (to me, unlikely) reason, is that the upvotes on Meta are from users who can't vote to close because rep requirements

@Medix2 Or who already voted to close the first time

@G.Moylan I think that's what happened? The question is how long to wait until the Meta can be considered to be showing consensus

1:53 PM
@ThomasMarkov what's the timeout on VTC?

@ThomasMarkov I literally said that XD

@Medix2 probably now lol
@G.Moylan like a week or something without new votes

@G.Moylan 14 Days IIRC

jeez

jeez im dense this morning.

1:54 PM
Oh is it seven... I literally just checked this last week too and forgot XD

@ThomasMarkov It's Friday!

@G.Moylan Friday is deadlift day, so I have a lot of central nervous system fatigue this morning.

@G.Moylan Friday, I'm in love ... hmm, I wonder if my Cure CD's are still around. Hmm, garage clean out project this weekend may help me discover that ...

@G.Moylan Oh right, I think it's permanent if you vote actually did something

@ThomasMarkov Conventional or RDL?
@KorvinStarmast wobbly garage CDs are my specialty
@Medix2 that makes some sense

1:58 PM
@G.Moylan Conventional, 5@305 this morning.

@ThomasMarkov Doesn't over 300 mean wild magic surge?

@ThomasMarkov nice! I only started 8 weeks ago so I'm still pretty low, around 120 right now. I think I could do a lot more but I'm going slow

@NautArch Fortunately Bernie's strength is like 8
@G.Moylan Rock on. You doing a linear progression?

@ThomasMarkov I have been, might change it up soon.

@G.Moylan Ride the LP wave while you can.
@G.Moylan I did a 5x5 LP until I was squatting in the low 300s for singles, then switched to Madcow, which is technically still a 5x5 LP, but controls for recovery better.

2:07 PM
My BIL, who used to go to the gym regularly pre-covid, once said I would be good at weights after taking me to his local gym
not sure whether he meant technique or my current physique, but I've always found cardio more tolerable

@ThomasMarkov I might do something like that. I've been doing an introductory thing to get used to using the bar, but it ends this week so I'm trying to figure out what to do next
@AncientSwordRage Cardio is good for certain things but weights will help you build strength

@G.Moylan that tends to be the way, yes
I think the only thing I really want/need is more core strength

@AncientSwordRage Maybe you have a favorable morphology for the main barbell movements

@AncientSwordRage lots of situps, arches, and pushups is a decent way to work on that

@AncientSwordRage There is nothing I can recommend more for overall strength development than the barbell back squat.

2:11 PM
@G.Moylan maybe less-so the arches

@ThomasMarkov I have arms...? Not sure, I forget which machines we used
@G.Moylan you have listed all my least favourite workouts

@AncientSwordRage There's actually a lot that goes into the big lifts regarding your skeletal proportions.

@ThomasMarkov I'll have to look into it
@ThomasMarkov keep talking...

@AncientSwordRage well it helps if you have bones. That's a great place to start.

@G.Moylan check!

2:12 PM
@AncientSwordRage Short femurs relative to tibia and torso length are generally favorable for squats and deadlifts

And if you don't have bones, then store bought is fine. Just ask the necromancers

Long arms are great for deadlifts, short arms are great for bench press

Medium arms are great for communing with spirits, which supplement the skeletons

@MikeQ Not to be confused with phantom limbs.

@ThomasMarkov I have a slightly longer torso than normal? Besides that I don't know

2:16 PM
@G.Moylan If you want to chat some more, we can go to Here be Dragon, we shouldnt fill this space with more barbell talk :P

@ThomasMarkov I need to work for a bit but I'd love to in a while, yes

@G.Moylan just ping me in there

 Not a bar, but plays one on TV

I'm not a place to unwind after work, but I play one on TV.

forgot about NAB

Change the name to "Not a barbell, but plays one on TV"

2:21 PM
@ThomasMarkov Not a piercing?

@Trish wat

How bout that

which leads me to ask can you get a barbel barbell shaped like a barbell?

@AncientSwordRage surely!

3:07 PM
@Trish we're in agreement then, and don't call me shirley
this looks like an interesting one to follow

@AncientSwordRage I like that, it looks fun.

@RevanantBacon and then you get the monk to redirect the arrow...

3:53 PM
@Medix2 deleted to re-write?
also do we need an tag? I'd like to follow these sort of shenanigans

Add to your browser's start page/bookmarks bar this link and you will be 90% of the way there.
Actually, having it as a tag would make it easier to filter out for people who don't want to put up with it...

@Powerdork haha true

4:09 PM
@AncientSwordRage I've been debating adding that as a tag for a while... it seems helpful to me

if someone doesn't like that there's an arcane archer tag, they can make a meta post about it

@AncientSwordRage Forgot to address the general case, so I edited it in
Plus we already have the [battle-master] tag which is a similarly complicated subclass, for the same class even

We should have tags for any meaningful categorization of questions we actually have. As long as we have at least one question about Arcane Archers a tag is defensible, and more posts make it much more so

@Medix2 ahh gotcha
@Medix2 good point

I have an answer to the new Meta, but I'm not sure if I have the mental energy to write it all up... I'll start the draft now and see where it's at tomorrow

4:31 PM
That's still pretty fresh for a meta answer

Welp, turned out much shorter than I thought it would, and easier to express than I expected, so I guess I finished it after all

Q: An asker was mislead about the system they were using. Should we do anything about it?

SilentAxeThere is a curious case that resulted in bunch of questions that are tagged with one system, while the OP was confused about workings of a different system - and some of these tags were applied by OP himself. Note: That I am posting this as an outside observer, and even though the other people in...

@Medix2 That's a really measured and reasonable take, very succinctly put. Nice answer!

I think I would challenge the premise here a bit.

How so?

4:42 PM
Have we actually confirmed the dnd-5e was definitely wrong?

Conflicting information.

@Medix2 I made it

@ThomasMarkov At the very least, the book doesn't match, right?

I should go through and retag stuff D:

We have the mystery of the missing PHB, but other than that, I dont think we have any further indication that dnd-5e was incorrect.

4:44 PM
I've done three so far, many are left

OP mentions the DMG and MM in other questions as well.
What systems have a PHB, DMG, and a MM?

@ThomasMarkov It could be someone printed an SRD ?

Goodness, I answered 4 of their 6 questions

That happens pretty often

@ThomasMarkov Techncially, it doesn't have to be a different system, could be a hybrid or micommunication

4:48 PM
Yeah, so really, System A in the meta is basically parallel to the Q Source Hypothesis in biblical studies.

@Medix2 Could just be a group where literally nobody read the rules at all? DM who didn't know how challenge rating worked, player who apparently didn't read their class description??
There's a comment on the meta post claiming that OP said they were using 5e and then deleted that comment, which either means something went horribly wrong with the comment, or they weren't playing it at all?

@LCooper I think that happens more often than we realise

@AncientSwordRage It's definitely sort of how my first experience worked, although the DM at least was using a pre-made module so it wasn't as chaotic as it could've been...
I think it is super easy to forget that even 5e, in all its simplified glory, is absolutely baffling if you don't have some sort of guide with experience with TTRPGs. If everyone in that group was trying to play for the very first time (not just D&D but TTRPGs in general), I could see this sort of confusion resulting tbh

5:04 PM
@AncientSwordRage Aye!

@LCooper Oh, to be clear: I deleted that comment, because with the info worked into the question, the comment isn't needed anymore (standard practice)

@Someone_Evil Ah, gotcha! I figured it was standard comment cleanup, but I suspect that's where the confusion in the meta question is coming from
Well. Part of it. Most of the confusion is just that the questions are confusing.

I still think they're playing 5e, but have read zero materials.

@NautArch this.
I postulate that they have a PHB for some other game, and got into a D&D 5e game without really knowing the difference.

I try to leave a note in the revision comment whenever I edit in info from comments (so it's clear where it's coming from, but you aren't given that prompt when just doing a tag edit

5:12 PM
I'm tempted to hit up the used game and book store in town and see if I can find anything that matches the cover description, just to sate my own curiosity...

We do get folks asking about content from outside their system without realizing it (it's one of the points that get brought up with DGtS IIRC). Most often it's been 3.5 content or homebrew and the confusion is fairly straight forward to handle

@LCooper Ive a feeling Player's Handbooks isnt even the title.
I spent over an hour googling for the thing and turned up nothing promising.

@ThomasMarkov Yeah, that's why I was thinking an in-person search might work better-- that shop has a TON of RPG sourcebooks (like, there's an entire wall of a decently-sized store that's just floor-to-ceiling RPG books), and if this thing does exist in the real world, there's some chance it'd be there
Pretty easy to just flip through to page 91 of any promising titles and see what's there, I figure
I'm in there pretty regularly, hoping that someone will have sold any of the Planescape supplements (no luck yet, but they seem to have a decent influx of older sourcebooks, so I'm holding out hope on not having to buy off ebay)

@LCooper Here's the link to their comment describing it: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/57969666#57969666

@ThomasMarkov I'm out of town this weekend, so I won't be able to do any searching for a bit, but I'll be sure to share if I find answers to this bizarre mystery!

5:22 PM
Um, am I the only one confused about how they could state there's "double classing" on page 91 and then less than 10 minutes later remember they didn't actually have the book?

@ACuriousMind You're definitely not the only one confused.

It's more than 10 minutes. the move does that

If only they'd shared the ISBN for this mystery book...

5:54 PM
@LCooper I think I still have a few planescape materials in a box somewhere, what are you looking for? I can probably send it to you ... will see what I have when I get home later

I think it's a version of
That seems to have lots of different covers for different versions (maybe)
Also double classing seems to be a term used?
8
A: I'm having trouble being effective as a Lore Oracle and would like to improve

Jacob ProffittHaving played a Lore Oracle, I can sympathize with you, at least to an extent. I wouldn't say you've botched anything, at least from what you've said above. I think that you're making a classic (though very common) error by using combat as your sole determinant of value to a party, though. A Lore...

For instance the above question mentions double classing

I've returned!

@G.Moylan \\oo/

busy morning. shaping up to also be a busy afternoon

6:12 PM
So busy you skipped noon altogether

@AncientSwordRage No, PF1 doesn't have a "Player's Handbook", and doesn't have "double classing"

6:26 PM
@AncientSwordRage good well defined tag, we need more of those rather than fewer of them.

6:44 PM
@MikeQ People are regularly prone to using their own variant of a term for no particular reason besides it sounds better to them, or that's how they learned it.
But yeah, Player's Handbook is a D&D construct, making anyone using it to describe a general player document for a game wrong, I'll give you that.

@Akixkisu "well-defined" is arguable there tbh

Why so?

@Medix2 I dont how you get more well defined than "for questions about this subclass from this game"

Because things like these questions. Arcane Archers exist outside of dnd-5e

[barbarian] exists outside [dnd-5e].

6:47 PM
@Medix2 Those systems should try harder to be D&D 5e so they can fit under the tag.

@Powerdork And the Barbarian tag isn't exclusive to one system because of that fact

Right, and the arcane-archer tag shouldn't be, either. So the wiki should be clear that the arcane archer is a common class specialization in fantasy roleplaying games such as Dungeons & Dragons and games taking after it, focused on blending bow arts and magic.

"[Most character archetypes can appear in any number of systems and thus the tag should reflect that.]())" The tag, currently, doesn't

@Powerdork Pathfinder has a prestige class of that name.

@Medix2 I really think the answer is to have both tags, [arcane-archer] and [dnd-5e]

"Games taking after it," "class specialization"; covered, in my opinion.

@Powerdork barbarian is like half of the player characters in Conan

I hate chatting on mobile sometimes XD double posting instead of editing:(

I mean, we don't have [problem-gm-dnd-5e] either

and conan doesn't even have classes.

6:52 PM
@Upper_Case I agree. The tag description is problematic

I'm going to dip now, as my energy for discussing this is gone.

@Medix2 reminds me of Magus... wait a sec...

That was its own whole ordeal

@Medix2 Ah, sorry, I misunderstood your positin

17
Q: "Magus" is a bad tag - let's fix it!

Trishthe tag magus is described as "Pathfinder class that blends martial prowess with spell casting, from the book Ultimate Magic.", yet that is very very system centric. The term magus/maga is also used in RPGs (among others!): as a generic term for Mage in ars-magica as a term for any male guild m...

6:52 PM
That was its own whole ordeal, with plenty unique to itself

> For questions about the magus, a type of magic user or spellcaster in various systems; in Pathfinder, it is the name of a martial/spellcaster class. Use this tag when the thing you're asking about in your game system is called a Magus.
that is Magus. We might make the Arcane-Archer similar to that...

But yeah, at the end of the day, people won't agree on how tagging should work. It is a folk taxonomy after all

Does closing a Q only prevent answers, or does it also eventually fall off the site?

> For Questons about Arcane Archers, a type of magic user or spellcaster in various systems that combine archery with spellcasting; ...

If it has no upvotes, it can get roomba'ed IIRC

6:54 PM
"For the Martial Archetype Arcane Archer, basically a Ranger that got kicked out of boy scouts early"

@G.Moylan if the question is 0- and no answers, then it is roombaed.

I have a neat browser extension that displays the roomba stats at the top of a question.

Or yeah, probably if it has a negative score (or zero...), not if it has zero upvotes

@MikeQ PF1 had the ultimate X series that were pretty much specialized PHBs.

So if a question has a lot of attention but is eventually closed becuase there's something wrong (duplicate or off-topic or vague or something), what does the intended lifecycle look like? Are they eventually manually cleaned up?

6:56 PM
"Arcane Archers: Rangers that never took any outdoor electives at ranger school"
@G.Moylan Dupes should stay around.

@ThomasMarkov Arcane Archers: Arcane Archers

@ThomasMarkov Rangers that were pretty good at studying but always pretended they weren't
@ThomasMarkov Aside from dupes, then

@ThomasMarkov Arcane Archers: The ranger school equivalent of those kids who blew through all the math classes in high school and started in on college classes in like, 10th grade

@Medix2 It is. The argument of whether we should define it differently for utility, which might be worthwhile, doesn't apply there.

@G.Moylan Positive scoring closed questions usually just fade into obscurity of the author never comes back to fix them.

6:59 PM
Ah, so let it die its own slow death

We currently have 5534 closed questions.

and how many open?

not sure why but that's a lot more than I thought

And sometimes a closed question gets a decent answer before getting closed, in which case it's still not a good fit for this site, but at least the OP got their question answered

7:00 PM
And sometimes a question is closed only because what is considered off topic has changed

My highest scoring answer is on a closed question.
But it was closed for administrative reasons rather than one of the usual site reasons.

My highest scoring answer has no business being as high as it is and is on a Q with no accepted answer

My bad on I was cribbing heavily from

I still get upvotes on it occasionally

@AncientSwordRage Don't think it's bad, I actually think it's probably totally fine because I question who, if anybody, reads tag descriptions. But I know people value their generalizedness

7:03 PM
Ive an answer at 98 points and sometimes I feel like the gold badge is laughing at me.

@Medix2 I'm one of those people

@Medix2 I read tag descriptions and second guess whether a tag belongs all the time.

@ThomasMarkov It is maddening

@Upper_Case And the answer is so good there's nothing more I can do to bump it.
And the other answers dont need any edits either.

@ThomasMarkov Yeah, that's fair. And then I read any tag descriptions on another Stack and realize everybody does this stuff differently and I can breathe easy being unsure

7:06 PM
@ThomasMarkov I suppose you could "improve formatting", and then later "change your mind" when you realize the original formatting was better. Not really in the spirit of things, and yet...

But the next time a wish question comes up, I'll probably get it, cuz were gonna close it as a dupe.
But apparently meta doesnt want a canonical "can my wish do this answer".
Ive half a mind to drop my answer on all the old wish questions and be like "yall asked for this".

@ThomasMarkov enjoy your gold

Meanwhile, my highest scoring answer is a self answer to my highest scoring question

@Medix2 Im not sure I could live with myself.
@G.Moylan holy smokes

@ThomasMarkov Arcane Archers: Rangers that chose to opt out of the druid classes and take wizard ones instead

7:09 PM
@Trish Real talk, we should change it to that and see how long it sticks.

@ThomasMarkov propose it :P

I would say course instead of class to avoid overloading terms

@Trish I think i can just send it in under the radar.

@G.Moylan true!

@Upper_Case were you one of the votes that got me that gold?

7:12 PM
@ThomasMarkov Nope, though I would have done if I'd been more on the ball

@ThomasMarkov there were already 99 when I voted

@ThomasMarkov your welcome 😜
I spent to long trying to make a troll face, with the badge for teeth to notice @G.Moylan had pushed you over.

@AncientSwordRage can we see it anyway?

@G.Moylan I couldn't get transparency layers to work in an online tool

@AncientSwordRage Try Photopea

7:16 PM
While we're here, @Upper_Case has a really good answer in the 90s
Which I just bumped because formatting

how was the markdown conversion not already done?

If a post was too complicated for the Bot to do it correctly, it preserves the old look and any edit to the post will apply the new formating

I need to revisit my Scrying answer. IT got a lot of good attention and feedback bit it was also one of my first answers ever and I think falls into idea generation. I need to update it pretty badly

@ThomasMarkov actually, tossed that to Meta, together with the note that the prestige class is at least around since Neverwinter nights.

@G.Moylan I'm almost there but not quite
@G.Moylan can't move my layer

7:23 PM
@AncientSwordRage darn. I'm not familiar with using the tool myself but I know it's supposed to be pretty robust and feature rich
@ThomasMarkov currently at 95

@ThomasMarkov yeah, it's got a lot of good meat in the soup there

“Refusing to play or refusing to allow the game to be played by others is not a playstyle.” -Upper_Case

@ThomasMarkov 'Tis an anti-playstyle

@G.Moylan I'm sure I could get it to work on a laptop

@KorvinStarmast started smelling that gold

7:40 PM
Though I'm tempted to suggest that the DM just multiply the negative effects by an even number. I'm sure that would satisfy the players!
Also, thanks everyone for taking another look at that answer of mine. I'd given up on it

@Upper_Case Have a full day's rations.

98!

If reputation points are lemons, then fun bounty messages are lemonade.

You have my attention with "bounties"

@G.Moylan Unfortunately I cannot bounty your highest scoring answer.

Q: Let's fix the Arcane Archer tag!

Trisharcane-archer has a quite wrong tag description: The Arcane Archer is a fighter subclass in Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition (published in Xanathar's Guide to everything), and has the ability to use a number of arcane shots in battle that augment the use of ranged weapons. However, Arcane Archer ...

@ThomasMarkov Yeah that question is mega-closed. I'm not a huge fan of that answer anyway. It exists. I believe it's correct, but it really just boils down to "talk to the player"
I'm a little annoyed that the Swarms answer was never accepted. That Q sits unanswered.
@Upper_Case 99!

@G.Moylan which one?

@ThomasMarkov This one, you bountied it: rpg.stackexchange.com/a/184814/50702
That was the week I snagged 700 rep in bounties
