@JohnP Yeah. There's a section in the DMG I think about effects of mixing potions. Maybe it's XgtE. I don't recall mixing potions being a codified thing in AD&D.

The strange ingredients used in creating potions can result in unpredictable interactions. When a character mixes two potions together, you can roll on the Potion Miscibility table. If more than two are combined, roll again for each subsequent potion, combining the results. Unless the effects are immediately obvious, reveal them only when they become evident.
@GcL The rules don't specifically say this, but I always rule that there's no interaction if you combine two potions of the same kind; you just have a Flask of Healing that can be used twice.

@GcL Our x-country team did a beer mile as a group once. Our top runner couldn't break 10 minutes, and half the team couldn't finish. I was around 14 minutes IIRC, but it wasn't guinness. Some pale imitation made in 'murica.
@Carcer Selling. I'm down to modules and a lot of the campaign sourcebooks. I'm keeping a good selection of the rulebooks (I bought a couple large plastic bins of AD&D stuff at a garage sale).
A lot of dragonlance modules that I'm tempted to keep, but I just don't have the room to store all this stuff.

"point within range" is even boilerplate language so even easier to fill. (and more confusing how they messed it up)
The only reason I noticed was because it wasn't in quote format and I was checking the wording against the official one to make sure it was transcribed right.
@Carcer I'd say original White Wolf sparks more designer-intent-questions-per-page than D&D, but its audience base is relatively smaller to the point that D&D probably still accounts for the majority of actual designer-intent discussins.

@Xirema well I wouldn't actually call it a solid precedent. There is redundancy in some spells where it says something that would have already happened. It is rare but it happens.
@Carcer Put "Strength" in place of "Presence". Basically saying "You get +X bonus per level, but RAW caps strength at Y, so a spell caster of level Z casting a strength addition spell has no effect because their strength is already capped and can't be increased"
@Carcer yeah, I checked and it's been there since the first printing. asked an online friend who has the latest printing (as of 2018 PHB errata) but haven't heard back yet
Pathfinder and 3.5 take first and second place by a large margin but I'm not sure in which order. Next three are probably some combination of Dark Heresy, Shadowrun 4e, and... I guess nWoD, if you consider the different flavours of that one RPG?
(Looked on Roll20 but there's nothing text-based that's on in British hours, and as far as I know if I start a game myself I'd have to be the GM and I don't think I'm equal to that.)
@Shalvenay that question I wrote has opened up a can of worms. By the words of KRyan, who I trust on the matter, Paizo Adventure Path enemies could be beaten by any badly optimized party of characters. Badly as in "it takes effort, like taking all social skills on a fighter".
come to think of it, the election could've been a lot simpler if i threw in a question of "What's your favourite game?" and judged the candidate completely on their answer
@doppelgreener While working through the questions I wrote I was thinking how much easier things would have been if I had instead suggested questions like "what animal is your username based off of? Describe your favorite thing about that animal!" and "What is your favorite color and how does that represent your moderation style!"
@Rubiksmoose My favourite colour is green, which I'm pretty sure is none of the other mod's favourite colour, so that's clearly a fresh perspective I can bring to the team

Well, usually there aren't just impromptu games happening on the spot in this particular chat room, the rest of the time it's either people planning out when to play a thing, etc. There is a ToA campaign in progress run by @nitsua60 but I don't know if there are additional openings (or if you've played ToA before), so you'd have to talk to nitsua about that.
Besides that, sometimes people will mention wanting to play something text-based in the general chat, and that's what this channel's often used for

Yay! Thanks @BESW! I'm actually a first-timer. I know D&D 5e quite well because I've twice nearly done a game with friends online, studied hte rulebook and made a character, and then it fell through. I've also read the rules for various other RPGs (e.g. Fate, Lady Blackbird) just in the spirit of window-shopping...
I do pick things like that up very fast. Any system would do as fasr as I'm concerned as far as I know, more whether people are prepared to put up with someone who met the system for the first time the day before yesterday!
Oh, I don't much care for totally free-form games, though I like them better in chat than by forum if it comes down to it.
Are there any written rules on whether or not component pouches, when purchased, contain components or if users have to find the components and put them in?
If it's automatic, does it auto-fill when you get new spells?
Genre-wise, I enjoy most things - sword and sorcery, science fiction, superheroes - although I don't much care for the ultra-dark-and-grisly stuff, you know, like some of the World of Darkness games seem to be, the ones where the PCs being bloodthirsty killers is an essential part of the game.
If nobody here is able to help you, you might look into Discord servers. @V2Blast has a generic RPG server for D&D and the like, and there are dedicated servers for games like Fate and Gumshoe.
@A.B. @Glazius is looking to do a Fellowship game (it's a fantasy-themed PbtA, but more oriented directly at the "beat the big bad" side of fantasy than the "crawl dungeons and get phat loots" side that Dungeon World focuses on)

Oh yeah, I should be promoting that, shouldn't I? Looking to run at least a demo of Fellowship, a game about heroes who are the hopes of their people to confront the Overlord. tinyurl.com/FellowshipPlaybooks are the playbooks. It gives responsibility for detailing your people on you when you choose to play them and has an interesting threat resolution that focuses on cinematic setup and takedown.
