Tweets to Campaign By thinks he shouldn't have pissed off the lichslinger on the opposing team if he didn't want to make those saves. #continuity #wildwesthockey
Phoenix's goalie is making some really huge saves tonight.
@Lord_Gareth No, a lot of them are quite good, but since the subject matter is fiction, a lot of questions require speculation and interpretation to answer.
The end result is that incredibly goofy stuff appears.
e.g. this answer to why melange is called spice. but it seems to be answering why melange is called melange.
Hey, I'm looking for a kind-of self contained 4e adventure (in the style of Prey for Smiley Bob, if you know it). I can roll my own, but it's a last minute thing and I'm looking to save some time. Does anyone know of any other good ones?
@lisardggY Ravensburg could work... it is a medieval Europe feel... the town is supposed to be kinda ominous and evil (but not out right evil) and it is Human dominant with snooty "high elves" and dwarves primarily in the working class
1 sec lemme pull up the map :D just make sur ei dont forget anything
Ok so it's coastal and a port city, slightly north of the equator. There is a jungle area to the south and forests to the north. The area where the city is specifically is low land and slightly marshy (think Florida in the USA)
and it's not necessarily evil it's just more of a gloomy, ominous feel
the baron of this city is the main supporter of the extermination of the Minotaur people
(back story made short he and the current human king's father hatched a plan to replace the current king with a doppelganger since the king is a minotaur sympathiser. The plan has already been enacted in the game too)
i foyu need more I can regale you with more info
Oh! i forgot, the city is also in between 2 branches of a river, so the coast and the rivers make a natural moat like barrier around the city
I am kinda running a "colonizing the Americas" scenario where the minotaur are the natives and the humans are the Europeans... and we are right on the cusp of when the Europeans realize murdering the indigenous people is a bad idea
I am thinking, River Branching off = horns. So that region could be called "The Horns" or "The Bulls Horns" or something. But that's not the city name.
my goal for this story is that since we have a minotaur in the party, I want to have him be a key player in making the 2 civilizations work to gether. then the minotaurs get some of their land back
It's a necessary city, a huge port in the new world, on a river that heads into the land. But it doesn't have a huge permanent population, Mostly soldiers, and sailors from the ships. People don't like living there. The rulers want to control it for its wealth and strategic location - but no one likes living there.
It's too hot, too many mosquitoes.
There are lot's of clerics/healers/temples there because of all the sickness.
would be fantasy creatures mixed in, it's for a D&D campaign
maybe throw in a swarm druid for them to fight
I am starting to build out this part of the world early too, so I have time to really flesh it out and make it noticably different than the tranquil forest area where they are now
yet, since it's part of the same kingdom, I need to weave in elements that feel the same (hence mostly human, but closer to the elven jungles so a higher number of elves, etc)
sounds good. My players know "something" is wrong with the King, they just dont know what yet
they made friends with one of the kingdoms Barons, and when the minotaur PC got arrested the party asked the Baron to talk to the King (the two were friends, having fought together in the army... along with the Baron of the newly named Blood Hollow and 3 other Barons in holds around the kingdom)
According to this article on the wizards website:
In addition to their shapechanging, doppelgangers have the ability to
read thoughts. In the short term, a doppelganger can read thoughts to
aid it when tricking people around it. When impersonating a specific
victim, a doppelganger likes...
since we have 2 quests going on at the same time and 1 of our players has an inactive Rogue, they sent the rogue off to investigate "off screen" as it were
The player who created teh rogue is currently playing a warlord, but the rogue is still alive and an ally of the group
since we have another active quest and the following the king bit is overly stealth heavy I agreed to let the Rogue follow the King out side of game time
the player wont control the rogue and I'll just give them a vague anwer to what the rogue found out
It's just an idea really. I remember it was in the DMG as well
that if you have an ally or contact who is .. say .. a blacksmith.. then you assume he has craft(blacksmith) (or whatever skill best suits him) at highest possible level. According to the idea that the contact/allies level is not more than yours.
So, if you were level 3 and you had a blacksmith ally, he has craft(blacksmith) with 7. (D&D 3.x rules)
@InbarRose was just thinking, this would explain why the rogue can't keep up his tail on the (changeling) King... he (the rogue) is only level 5... so the king would likely notice he has a tail and shapeshifts to get away
@lisardggY Maybe due to the fact that D&D is one of the few games that radically change from edition to edition. Was it Shadowrun, I'd have said Shadowrun 4e, because 4e alone does not identify anything.
@Zachiel There may be that, but mainly I think it's because D&D is the "default" RPG, still the most prominent and identified with the hobby as a whole.
Now, if I wanted to put up some... place, where I could discuss about NPC creation for D&D 3.5, and balancing against my party, what do you think would be an appropriate place? What kind of people would be even interested in discussing about -that-?
I have toyed with the idea of starting a chat room for discussing topics related to my campaign. But have been a little tentative about it since I dunno who would be interested in hangin out in there feeding my ego :D
Well, I don't relly think the process would be that interesting, plus I'd be just upgrading monsters from a published, official source. I'm not sure "forever be stored" is the right way to do it.
(I'm sorry if I come and go, but I'm farming in some MMORPG instances right now)
Still ok to express that in a different answer to me. I guess the downvote was because of the non-explicit answer you gave at first. (and he retracted the downvote now)
I'd go by the assumption that unless the question is about the point cost of abilities, the OP knows the point cost of abilities and doesn't need to be taught that.
@MC_Hambone It's the sort of thing I imagine I'd love. I just need to earn more money so I can spend more weekends away. The train to Belfast is comfortable (standard seating on the Enterprise feels like first class seating anywhere else in the country) and has excellent coastal views, so it's not as if the journey would be arduous. She's part of a gaming group. I could join them! I just need more moolah.
@InbarRose Hate Skype. Hate Facebook. Am vaguely aware of what Whatsapp is, but have never used it. Have no need for maps (I walk everywhere, or take public transport).
i use my phone for Texts, FB chat, calls, random internet searches, and games in that order.... but i spend most of my time at my computer. So I generally do most of my interneting on the PC :D
also I only JUST got skype yesterday
and I dunno if i like it or not... my allergies make me breathe heavy and I get self conscious about that over voice comm programs that dont have a push to talk system
As the first poster and owner of this new, shiny room, I guess it's my duty to tell the world why it's there. I'm playing a D&D official campaign again but I'd like to upgrade all my encounters so that they're a challenge for the party, instead of being the easy fights whew only Int 12 wizards would have problems.
@Zachiel Nevermind I missed something the first time I read it.
when an archetype includes multiple alternate class features, a character must take them all —often blocking the character from ever gaining certain standard class features, but replacing them with other options....
I could link you a reference, but it would be a spoiler if you were ever going to read homestuck. Which I think everybody should (because it's full of awesome) and shouldn't (because it's addictive and long. Very long)
If I already have normal Natural armor and I get a Amulet of natural armor would the amulet overlap the nat armor or add to it? The should add together sense one is an enhancement bonus right?
How would you guys describe an increase in dexterity? I have a character who can alter his body to increase his Dex and I am trying to think of a way that it would effect his body.
Str would be larger muscles. Con would be thicker skin but how to describe dexterity.
It could just be more elastic muscles, enhanced nerves, longer tendons, but my favourite pseudo-science thing is Ring's Sonia Road, from Air Gear. Hyperventilation inducing an excess of nitrogen in the organism, causing nitrogen bubbles to be born between bones, allowing for attrite reduction in the joints.
I can't find the page where it's explained in the manga
In the manga it's also painful, but it doesn't need to be for your character
