Q: Firing mods and stealing content: is Stack Exchange still interested in cooperating with the community?

amonThe last weeks and days have seen some erratic behaviour by Stack Exchange Inc, such as likely illegal changes to the content license and the firing of a community moderator for no good reason. It would be nice if those just were examples of ill judgement, but the disturbing alternative is that S...

Although this post is not only about only Monica Cellio it does include the issue. I'm pondering about the last sentence of the post "I for my part expect to stop writing answers or participating otherwise until I see a good-faith effort towards mending the rift." As basic users what's the best? @sinopleincandescent
@sinopleincandescent Great "answer" on French meta, I love every word and coma of it .

@Gilles sad to see you go off as a moderator and contributor, but I really understand the why

This issue remind me of when StackExhange promptly removed a SF moderator in the past, it brought similar feeling

@yagmoth555 Um, I haven't decided yet whether I'd stop contributing. I'm not going to collaborate with SE-the-company in any way, and I'm generally not going to participate in shaping communities, but so far I see no compelling reason to stay off the site altogether. This may of course change depending on what SE does next.
@Laure I doubt that a boycott would have much influence. It would only be a few hundred people. Stack Overflow gets more than 10000 posts per day and has no serious competition.

Hmm

SE may be more worried about Twitter shitstorms. Recently, Twitter messages from influential people are about the only things that have made SE budge (sometimes for better, sometimes for worse).
If you have a Twitter account with many followers, sharing the news might help.

I suppose so but I'm not twitter. i could read the messages though.
There might be more mods stepping down as they see what happened now there's been a post on Meta.
Good luck to you. You've done a great job here on FL and it seems on other sites.

@Laure Thank you.

@Laure Merci !

@Gilles « but so far I see no compelling reason to stay off the site altogether ». Content de lire ça. À bientôt !

Playing the armchair critic is easy of course, and I apologize for doing so, but imho there is value in everyone involved in this incident talking again. It's not really about what's best for the site or the user base but imho it's about what's best for human beings...

I don't know exactly what happened but the issue seems to be the manner people were treated, and it's possible just talking in private will foster opportunities to make some things right so that everyone involved can come out of this knowing everyone involved was properly understood and at least at arm's length and somewhat lifted from this sadness and misunderstanding if they couldn't agree entirely on the outcomes etc. I believe this can go a long way...
