Q: Why are all pups born at the same time?

Ram KeswaniI live in India, alongside 30 Million stray dogs. 90% of female dogs have given birth to pups in November-December. You can see a pup every 10 m you walk here. Why is this happening? Why do all dogs are having pups at the same time?

@Henders My grandmother is 86 years old and she regularly cooks for me. Also we all keep our money with grandmother and she takes care of family expenses. And she is still the head and ultimate decision maker of the family. She can even walk a marathon for elderly people.

@Sonevol Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I think keeping healthy and active is the key. 86 is a great age :D

Q: Help with house breaking a Malamute puppy

MalphasWatsWe recently brought a malamute puppy into our home. He is almost 12 weeks and fantastic fun, very well behaved generally, however, we're having trouble house breaking him. I've mostly worked out his 'tells' now, so I know when he needs to go most of the time, however, if I put him outside he wil...

@trondhansen just watched an extra-ordinary youtube video. It claims because of sea predators octopuses have sacrificed their life span in favor of reproduction to ensure survival of species
Octopuses not only has brain power more than chimps, but their brain power matches us. Only because we are scientifically much more evolved is the reason octopus can't match us
Scientific evolution comes only from learned behavior.
And octopus can't get it as their parents die soon after giving birth, they can't pass down their learning to next generation and baby octopus has to learn from scratch.

Q: My kitty likes to lick my hand/feet but then want to scratch it

ConfusedOwnerWhen I held out my hand , he slowly approach my hand & start to lick it . But if I let him be or if I move the slightest he will want to scratch my hand . Tbh , he attacks everything that moves . Why does he behave like that ? Does he think I'm a food or some sort XD

Now scientists are doing experiment where there is a large lake without predators and octopuses have been released there.
The lifespan has magically started increasing.
Octopuses are no longer solitary and have started living in groups
Young octopuses are learning from older ones.
Scientists predict in a hundred thousand years a new species will emerge with enough sofisticated science to challenge humans for dominance on earth.
The only thing which is needed for it and humans are providing it is an environment devoid of predators.
@Henders @djsmiley2k can I please have yohr opinion on this octopus theory?

/me looks
100,000 years?

Yep

mankind will of either used the water up, and turned it all to acid ;D
but before that happens, the prey will evolve, possibly become predators as well

4:54 PM
Which prey, octopus?
Octopus is already superb predators, but they are prey to larger prddators.

the octopui are eating something
one of 4 things happens
1. they eat it all, they starve
2. they eat enough and some how maintain current numbers
3. they eat enough, and the survivors evolve to not get eaten
4. they don't get enough

Here the evolution is not happening in nature. It is happening in human controlled artificial lake.
Do you believe octopus is the most intelligent animal? Even more than humans?

Q: How should I react to two fighting cats?

ZaralyndaSeveral questions have addressed how to get cats to get along together. How to stop two male cats from fighting How can I encourage two cats to get along? How do we handle two female cats in the household demonstrating alpha behavior? How to get cats to coexist in peace? How much dominance ...

The two questions duplicates with second one having a good answer. I suggest closing the first one as duplicate
@Henders I have marked three cat questions asked recently as duplicates. Two were asked two days earlier and are clear duplicates. But went unattended. Nobody is moderating the site properly.
