Hm looks like there'll need to be a way to exclude tests from being tested by native
Because regex discrepancies exist

default test method be like "nooo you can't pass extra arguments 😭"
and me when "testonly can take extra arguments but it's for specific tests"
And then finally "oh but you can make testonly test all the files by using a wildcard"
So I'd like to say thank you to the default test method for being completely useless by being bypassed by another test method
And now it's back to having an empty config map

Actually, i have a much simpler way to tell if native is being used
Wrap a regex that Re2 can't handle in a try-catch :p
It's the reason that there's testing problems so might as well make the most of it

currently doing a seat-of-my-pants mobile patch on Bridget to banish this embed garbage
should be done
@lyxal so, here's my plan for how to rework archives: when a new release happens, the versions repo clones the main repo, checks out the tag, compiles to JS, runs the bundler in "archive mode" (so it'll bundle the local files instead of using the bleeding-edge ones), and uploads the result
13:23
Would the "switch between local and remote" js code remain the same?
Also would the bundler be able to handle text files?
I may have forgotten to download the dictionary files in the current archive version which is why you don't see them there
@lyxal wdym?
@lyxal yes
@Ginger in main.js (and the worker too) there's parts that refer to remote resources in the main repo and get text subsistuted at archive time
/* === */
import { Vyxal } from "https://vyxal.github.io/Vyxal/vyxal.js";
import { HelpText } from "https://vyxal.github.io/Vyxal/helpText.js";
/* === */
that would be handled by the bundler
And
import { Vyxal } from "https://vyxal.github.io/Vyxal/vyxal.js"
Those both get literally text replaced by a python script
it'd basically replace them with the local ones during dependency resolution
13:28
Would the bundler bungle that up?
Because I remember Vue.js was changing the url of the worker import
Which is one of the main reasons Vue was dropped
I'm using webpack, which is much easier to screw with
and if it doesn't end up working we can keep what we have now
Tell ya what, whip up a proof of concept so I can see how it'd look
that's what I'm working on :p
13:30
I'll make sure to properly inspectigate it tomorrow
Also, just a thing I've been thinking about - if you're going to remove latest.html from the root directory, you better do it soon
The number of permalinks is still in the "mass edit event" range
But it won't always be
actually, the bundler lets me sidestep that entirely
I can just have it barf all the files into the build dir and then upload pages from there
Hey ginger watch this

I found a new edge case the bot wasn't programmed to handle :p
oh boy
what is it
@Ginger An error occured while processing event 5ce9ab92-9505-11ee-9fc2-adc6d41368be!
Empty commit messages
welp
...hold on
So you know how github desktop and github for the web provide a default message when you don't put a commit title?
Github mobile doesn't
It just says "ight" and pushes the commit with no title
13:35
mober moment
fwiw, using Git by itself also lets you do that
@Ginger ik but who uses Git amiright?
(me. I use git when I'm doing uni projects in groups)
(raw git)
GingerIndustries pushed a commit to VyxalBot2/main in Vyxal/VyxalBot2: Keep commits with no title from causing an error
GOOD MORNING, MOTHERF***ERS
LMAO
IT DID THE THING
that's the first time I've ever seen that happen
What's the trigger?
it's random, 1% chance every time the bot starts up
@lyxal what's the deal with keyboard.js?
13:43
lyxal pushed a commit to Vylight/gh-pages in Vyxal/Vylight: (no title)
@Ginger it just is
I'm trying to rewrite it to jsx
since the bundler lets me do that
As in, I didn't make it idk much about it
right
@Ginger make sure it has Firefox support
Because for a while there it didn't show the tool tips in ff
13:47
I'm pretty much just removing the html`...` stuff
I'd be careful if I were you
All of this rewriting JavaScript
It can't be healthy
And then one messy file leads to another
And then you're in over your head in nasty written infrastructure that a bunch of back-end devs wrote :p
it's too late for me, lyxal
well, main.js is even worse
who wrote this garbage?!
I'm absolutely rewriting this page later, this is awful
it still uses CodeMirror 5?!?!?!

1 hour later…
15:08
ok, slight change of plans
instead of the bundler bundling the Vyxal JS in archive mode, the workflow will copy the files into the dist directory and the bundler will overwrite the imports to point to the local files
15:26
that now works
passing --env vy-archive=/ to webpack changes the imports from https://vyxal.github.io/Vyxal/<whatever>.js to /<whatever>.js
looks like my keyboard changes worked :D
15:51
I'm currently rewriting main.js, because retrofitting it to work with the bundler would be even worse
and as a bonus I'm also upgrading CodeMirror to v6

5 hours later…
21:05
oh I also wrote a CM highlighter for v3

1 hour later…
22:09
@Ginger [lyxal ♦️] I warned you
[lyxal ♦️] I said back out before you see the real horrors that power operations :p
22:22
@Bridget it continues to be too late
I'm redoing the whole thing at this very moment
