@ifconfig As one of the only other people in the whole network that knows how grueling it is to graduate from the Area51 process, you might be one of the only people that appreciates how sensitive I can get when someone questions a new site's right to exist:
1
Q: What is the policy on one-boxing AI-related links in this site's general chatroom?

Nike DattaniIn almost 1 year of existence, I have posted 5 questions in that chat room whenever I thought MMSE had a question that might be of interest to people in AI (3 times before August and 2 times in December), for example most recently I posted a question about Deep Neural Networks which was posted at...

"I'm telling you to stop, because I think that's unfair that your site is getting so much attention, while I don't even understand what that site is for. It seems that it's mostly about data science, so I don't really understand its existence too."

@NikeDattani Where's that from?
@Xnero There's a link to it in the Meta Post :)
Actually it's a little funny, you asked me a long time ago the same question about what MM is, but you did it in a much more polite way :)

@NikeDattani Ah thanks. I will consider responding myself.
@Xnero Am I being a bit hyper-sensitive?
I just totally ignored the user's messages in chat and did the option 1/4 here: meta.stackexchange.com/a/28869/391772
user435118
@NikeDattani I'll look into it more. Have they told you to stop before?
Option 2 is to flag the chat messages, but the user is mod, so they can just waive the flag immediately. Option 3 is to try to talk about it in chat, which doesn't seem to make sense in this case since it's about the user's chat messages, and option 4 is to click "contact us" but I don't feel like bothering a CM on New Year's Day is what I want to do right now.
Happy New Year by the way, since I believe you're in the UK!
@Xnero Never ever !!

@NikeDattani Thanks, is it new year for you yet?
I've posted a total 5 of one-boxes in that entire chat room in my life, if they've told me to stop before, it would be easy to find, just look around those 5 one-boxes!
@Xnero I'm in Toronto so there's a few hours left.
user435118
@NikeDattani I'll custom mod flag it and if they handle it themselves I'll get another mod who I know to handle it.
@Xnero I see, I hadn't thought of that possibility
About being asked to stop, this is the very first time. However it's not the first time that he's tried to question why our site should exist:
I ignored him that time too.... just didn't want to get in an argument over chat. But I was deeply offended that someone would question why we need to have a site of our own, after we went through one of the hardest A51 processes one could imagine (they changed the time-limit on Definition and Commitment phases from infinite, to 1 year, to 4 months).
The only sites to survive the new requirements were Operations Research, Drones, and MM
user435118
It seems like they self declined my flag... I'll respond to them now.
@Xnero Thanks so much!
@Xnero I think your message to nbro was very well done. It got the message across, but in a very mature way. Thank you so much for that!

@NikeDattani You're welcome :)

@Xnero Have you met that user before? At the beginning I was oblivious to it, but apparently other had similar issues in the past: ai.meta.stackexchange.com/q/1681/19524

@NikeDattani I remember that post but didn't know that it was by them.

I frankly don't understand what's happening here.

@ifconfig I guess the user questioned why my site should have the right to exist "I'm telling you to stop, because I think that's unfair that your site is getting so much attention, while I don't even understand what that site is for. It seems that it's mostly about data science, so I don't really understand its existence too."
Previously the same user tried to accuse it of being a duplicate of ComputationalScience.SE, though in the above comment they were accusing it of being a duplicate of DataScience.SE: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/56604541#56604541
It's not just any user though, it's a mod.
