page 76: "If [thieves] do not pay [duty], at least they register themselves with Señor Montipodio who is their father, their teacher, and their protector; and, therefore, I advise you to come with me and to pay him obeisance and, unless you do that, do not dare to steal without his sanction, or it will cost you dear."
