@Glorfindel I might be missing something, but it seems that in this edit on could link directly to arXiv rather than to the Wayback Machine.
I wanted to notify you just in case it is some kind of glitch in your script.
I haven't edited the post yet.

@MartinSleziak thanks for the ping. I think the arXiv website was down temporarily. I ran the script again just now, and the edit looks OK: mathoverflow.net/posts/40328/revisions
(that's a different link, but I can't reproduce the issue for the other edits either)
