Hi all. This is just a small message to indicate to you that both forest and me have decided to go on strike. In case you don't know: we've been told by SE only to remove AI-generated posts if the poster has indicated that it has been generated by an AI. This means I cannot uphold our own established policy on AI generated content... continued...

Here is the mathematics SE AI generated answers policy: math.stackexchange.com/help/gen-ai-policy. It also gives you a warning that AI generated answers are not allowed when you start typing in an answer

Q: Moderator strike due to SE forcing AI-moderation policy

Maarten Bodewes - on strikeWe've decided on our meta that we do not want AI-generated answers. However, due to falling views and participation (probably mainly on SO) Stack Exchange has explicitly forbidden us to suspend users unless they indicate voluntarily that they haven't used an AI such as ChatGPT. This change has be...

Just been over at hsm.stackexchange.com It made me wonder is there a way to decide whether a question should be a crypto.se question with tag history and a hsm.se question with tag cryptology

Does anyone know if there are any hardware exploits due to the non-overlapping clock nature of the latch sets that make a flip-flop on high-speed hardware? I just came across a "slow latch" due to hardware corners and I can make something that gets "stuck". So, if it was a "1" the last cycle, it will remain a "1". Basically, I can feed a bitstream into a single bit.

ASCON is sorta gross in actual layout. I think someone should actually make an IC before they can make statements about how good or bad HDL is. I cannot use it on my RF stuff as it takes too long. SPNs just don't work well with comms. I'm going to put SIMON/AES/ASCON on my next IC to get some measured power numbers

The Linux kernel's randomness driver has finally switched away from SHA-1 (and no longer lets hardware choose the IV) to BLAKE2, and is using SipHash instead of an LFSR for mixing random data from interrupts. There have been some major changes in a positive direction recently.

@forest It's a little ahead of the curve, but not that much. A good survey was done my Michele Mosca for the Global Risk Institute info.quintessencelabs.com/hubfs/… see figure 10 fora view of the quantum engineering community.

It is surprising how many questions that need to be put on hold are starting without a capitalized letter. Of course, this is far from a foolproof method of detecting questions that need additional information, but it's remarkably on target.

I'm researching cryptography. I'm looking for expert volunteers for a 5-10 minutes interview via Zoom or Google Hangout. The research is a comparison between Blake2 and SHA3. If you would like to help me, here is my email: [email protected]. Send me an email, and I'll send you the interview questions. I will appoint a time that suits you best. Thank you.

More important than cryptography knowledge is social awareness. Don't need to understand everything as long as you recognize who's bullshitting, who's trolling, and how to take care of a community.
