Would this be a better fit for Politics or History? "Has a world leader ever used a supersonic jet as a means of official transport?"

To be honest I would be happy if conversation in here picked up and it was decided to move the links to another channel. In fact when the person who made that thread decided to join here the links stopped and conversation started. However they eventually left when they didn't like the way the conversation was going as well as the suggestions to fix the issues that they didn't like.

It would be nice if there was more chat in here though I think this room would just be frozen if it wasn't for the links

@uhoh I am focusing on it because that is what I see you doing, trying to change how people communicate in this chat even though you don't participate in here normally and didn't even attempt to bring it up with the people in this chat

@uhoh I am simply stating it how I see it, you are trying to change how people interact with this chat because you don't like i and I considering that attempting to dictate. You also complain about default behavior and wanting people to change how they post in here because you don't like it.

Harris should announce the Trump campaign as her pick with all the help it has done her recently

Again, if you are responding to someone on their answer they have every right to respond back. If this bothers you I suggest moving on rather then trying to get others to agree with you.

If you think that comment is bad you should flag it and move on from that question/answer

@CDJB It would be nice if activity picks up enough for other things and shifting US talk to another rooms becomes something worth considering

As we get closer to the election, it might be worth unfreezing the US Politics room (previously 2020 US Election discussion) and making it a dedicated 2024 US Election discussion room; give me a ping if anyone feels it's necessary. I think we're fine in here for now given there's not a lot of other discussion going on.

It seemed like a pretty open and shut case, but remember the Biden DOJ is only targeting Republicans and letting Democrats get away with everything.

@User1865345 The above compilation shows: Claire Hanna, Seamus Logan, Colum Eastwood, Clive Lewis.

Remainder: Liz Truss, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Alex Chalk, Gillian Keegan, Johnny Mercer, Penny Mordaunt and Grant Shapps were among senior Conservative figures to lose their seats on a tumultuous night.

@User1865345 Well it isn't that she doesn't know rather it is the audience she is talking to. How many people in the country are much happier denying parts of our history where black communities got attack for the audacity of trying to vote or doing well financially.

Q: Celebrating 10 years of Politics Stack Exchange!

CDJBRemember, remember the fourth of December when we celebrate our first Politics.SE question: What are the disadvantages of first-past-the-post electoral systems? Ten years, 15,000 questions, and 33,000 answers later, our site has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors, and hopefully made at le...

@User1865345 I think last presidential election there was enough chat/conversation to warrant a separate room - we might get to that point again over the coming year if people want to chat about debates as they happen or something... From memory, one of the goals was to have somewhere election-specific to point people towards if comments on posts on the main site got too chatty.

Overall my real problem was that someone who didn't participate in chat was looking to change the rules on how chat worked without even attempting to reach out to the few people who used it.
Apr 21, 2024 01:50
A good example is the attempts at getting people to change the way they post links to stop the auto previews but apparent unwillingness to make an actual effort to have that design decision revisited.
Apr 21, 2024 01:20
@uhoh If you don't like how they designed the chat to work you should make a post on the main meta site and explain why you don't like it. Otherwise let people use it the way it was designed to work.

Hm. uhoh. I think I shouldn't have used those words in that way and if that hurt someone's sentiment, I apologize for that. And flagging is the correct way to mitigate such things.

@User1865345 This should happen to more rich people that steal massive amounts of money and honestly it should be even longer. How many people get longer sentences for lesser thefts that impact fewer people just because violence was used and the rich can steal it without violence and ruin many peoples lives.

I was actually going to ask if anyone here in the chat room had access to these exit polls: ropercenter.cornell.edu/ipoll/…
