For a male new person it would be “dem Neuen”.
Den Neuen would be akkusative, but that wouldn’t fit with the verb, which calls for dative.

To all of those that now decided to lean back counting on “one candidate, two old mods, we’re good”: No, we aren’t. First, we need (available positions +1) candidates and ideally more. Aber selbst keine Antwort zu haben ist kein Grund eine Frage zu schließen. Auch nicht, wenn 99% der User keine Antwort haben ist es keiner. Dann bleibt die Frage eben offen - überall auf SE gibt es das. Vielleicht gibt es keine Antwort, aber nicht weil die Frage schlecht ist, sondern aus Zufälligkeiten des Lebens, etwa fehlende Popularität entsprechnder Stoffe im dt. Literatur-, Film- und Theaterbetrieb.

@Takkat Ich hatte es zwar schon mal geschrieben, aber: Up-/Downvotes sind nicht äquivalent mit Behaltens-/Löschwürdigkeit. Erstere besagen, dass eine Antwort richtig und hilfreich ist, letztere besagen, dass eine Antwort wirklich eine solche ist bzw. am richtigen Ort ist.
