If you have questions about the election process itself, please ask your question on the Puzzling Meta Site. Remember, folks stepping up to lead this community are committing a significant amount of their time, please keep all discourse civil and constructive.

Does anyone know how the number of moderators is chosen? I've noticed a few people say that their time commitment is limited. Would it be conceivable to have 4 or 5 moderators, some of whom have less time to commit? It seems to me that (within reason) more moderators would be better than fewer.

Something interesting would be to have mods from different timezones so there is always one mod awake to handle urgent problem

Question for @GraceNote and/or @Emrakul... what sort of time commitment is generally "expected" or "normal" for moderators?

Q: How are moderator election votes counted, in plain English?

PopsThe election pages' sidebars state that Stack Exchange elections use the Meek STV vote-counting method: After m days, the final voting results will be freely downloadable from this page forever, and we will calculate the n winners using OpenSTV with the Meek STV method. How does that work? ...

@Alconja Sounds good to me. I'm sure your policing would be solid, but your puzzles are excellent.

(*Mock answer to the questionnaire*)

9. How would you deal with a user who produced a steady stream of valuable answers, but tends to generate a large number of arguments/flags from comments?

You know, this site, it's got a lot of users. Different kind of users. Sometimes they can be nasty. Because they are awful. Awful. But you see these users, they have some good answers. Great answers. Answers that need to be upvoted. But sometimes, they say these things, you know. Things that hurt other users. And I know these other users who have been hurt. Good users, god-fearing users. These users,

@Emrakul You've forced my hand Emrakul... I won't stand idly by and listen to such biased and one-sided rhetoric. If elected, I will stand for all puzzlers; those that stomp small animals and those that choose to stomp larger animals.

Amalgamating "Puzzling" and "exit" leads to the delicious word "pugzit."

It's still so weird to see a diamond by my name
Jul 26, 2016 20:42
When I have a child I'll put a diamond at the end of his name so every body will think he is a real life moderator
Jul 26, 2016 20:38
Whoa, it's so weird seeing a diamond next to my name

Jul 26, 2016 02:31

@CodeNewbie Yes. It'll be 10 candidates always, we'll take the top 10 in a pure vote score sort, no exclusions. (had Shog help me look it up)
Jul 15, 2016 15:33
@DanRussell The nomination page clearly states right now that there will be 3. "Moderator positions available: 3".
Jul 13, 2016 07:06
@Doorknob Well, thanks for your time served then. I've not always been of your opinion, but I think you did a good moderator's job.
