Ah, okay. I'm not a SO user, I first signed up to these sites to support the Gaming proposal.

and if the site is filled with "fun" questions, I doubt it would be deemed a useful site
Aug 4, 2010 14:42
If something like that was to be asked on SO now, regardless of the homey feeling it would be closed
Aug 4, 2010 13:51
do we want to encourage him though?
Aug 4, 2010 08:44
I actually think they lack the specificity. The original "class" questions were just: "How do I level a Priest?" This is akin to asking "How do I program in C?" Its a bad question. On the other hand if they had asked, "What is the formula for spirit based mana regen in WotLK?" it probably would have received a much more positive response.
Aug 4, 2010 06:42
I think they encourage low quality in the questions being asked
Aug 3, 2010 18:15
I'm just glad they added the top 20 rule.

@Macha just wait until Chat has been around long enough and the purists start claiming we need a 4th place, because there's no order here

XN--ABAB-FT8AAFAKBGB80AS41C.COM has a lot of advantages. It is unlikely to be confused with any other URL, except maybe XN--ABAB-FTBAAFAKBGBBOAS4lC.COM

That's a tiny bit impossible

@Oak - recommendations are not the "best thing to come out of the site". You can find recommendations of games everywhere. However, I agree that specific questions about a particular type of game should be left open. Like this one:

Anyway, I didn't vote. At the moment, I vote to close questions that are really broad. So I voted to close "what games are there for linux", but didn't vote "horror FPSs"

Jul 16, 2010 07:16
OK, who changed "game-recommendations" to "game-rec"?
Jul 16, 2010 01:31
@juan Your comment on the topic of Gaming is right, if we leave them a little room now for discussion, it's not going to be around in a couple of months to even tidy up
Jul 16, 2010 00:43
it's a discussion of the site itself
Jul 16, 2010 00:43
Technically the question is identifying a game.
Jul 15, 2010 23:08
Not if us SU mods can keep clearing out the lists from our end. And then all those SEs can have the list questions
Jul 15, 2010 22:45
/posts/<id>/revisions
Jul 15, 2010 22:40
this is why I think LIST OF X would be an educational close reason
Jul 15, 2010 21:57
I changed close votes per day, from 12 to 20 on gaming
Jul 15, 2010 19:56
you seem to close questions @random
Jul 15, 2010 19:54
that's because you're an awesome mod ;P

Back to three tabs again, Gaming, Meta Gaming and Chat, just closed 20 others

There are, in fact, certain places where women now dominate the community, such as in Fanfiction sites, Soap Opera boards, Facebook, LiveJournal (particularly Livejournal Roleplay) or MySpace. As such, this is mainly a Discredited Trope these days.

A: Moderator nominations

C. RossI'd like to nominate ChrisF. He knows the SE system well, as he's a 10k user on three sites (SO, MSO, and SU). He's participated in both the main site and here on meta. He of course has to accept my nomination ...

Jul 15, 2010 16:46
our question counter is going to get skewed with the amount of closing around here
Jul 15, 2010 16:32
then you're in the wrong place, this system has worked like this for years
Jul 15, 2010 14:11
well, accepting is a form of showing consensus, and this is what I think most people here agreed on too
Jul 15, 2010 13:53
and seeing the nature of the SE sites you're then promoting cheating, which is undesirable
Jul 15, 2010 09:50
I know for sure that there's an audience for these question
Jul 15, 2010 09:38
Wii question is fine with me.. I don't really care about legality unless it's CLEARLY illegal (linking to warez, gimme teh free softwarez, etc)
Jul 15, 2010 04:44
For a successful experience, not just for the site but for the question asker, the important thing is to isolate what the actual problem is that help is required for.
Jul 15, 2010 02:36
I'm getting great answers to my questions on dwarf fortress. I would have abandoned the game without gaming.stackexchange.com
