Wolfram Mathematica

Here's my first fun project of 2022. I've been renovating an old house and just finished with these glass blocks in a cavity next to the chimney. The window in the room behind the blocks is west-facing so I wanted to see what time of year the sun will shine directly through it.

@ChrisK Interesting Topics in Wolfram Technology Conference keynote as always, e.g. about Standalone Application Bundling with Wolfram Engine from 2:04:10 to 2:06:00. This Bundler is supposed to come out in a few months and will result in only 160 MB for command line applications. Really? I believe it when I see it...

I am looking for a student that is interested in doing an internship spring/summer on modeling with partial differential equations using NDSolve. This internship can be remote despite what the full announcement says. These will occur every Wednesday at noon (CDT) and will be interactive sessions with the Wolfram developers. This is your chance to talk with our developers (without Stephen) and to ask questions, get demos of new functionality from the people who created them, make suggestions for future features, etc. We'll be using the usual livestream channels (Wolfram Twitch and YouTube)

Such a typical WL thing to have the interesting stuff be easy and the banal stuff be stupidly hard.

Please note that the URLs for Technical Support "Quick Answers" have changed from e.g. support.wolfram.com/kb/41501 to support.wolfram.com/41501 (in other words, the /kb/ part is now gone)

@RohitNamjoshi @kirkus thank you this answers my question. I was too naive and expected that WRI would cover this: its a bit strange IMHO to highlight as novelty of a new version something which is typically not accessible without extra cost!

well done Version 12 with DSolve. Mathematica 12 performed much better than Mathematica 11.3 both in the number of PDE's problems solved and in the speed it solved them. Link here 12000.org/my_notes/pde_in_CAS/pde_in_cas.htm Version 12 seems much faster than 11.3.

"We believe the current release of Mathematica addresses an issue you reported in Jan 2016" ... holding breath while waiting for issues to get resolved is strongly discouraged. ;)
