gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/854/… are a few games with different difficult level

Watch some tutorials if you are a total beginner and just recreate/ follow their steps. Once you are done (usually something like flappy bird can be made in 15-30min with a tutorial) recreate the same game again but without the tutorial

Depends on how you learn but usually hands on is the best. Rebuild a few classic easy games

I was able to get the earlier mathjax issue sorted out by using the && separator. I got the solution by basically rearranging the Giving reasons on each line of a sequence of equations example.

I want shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid more to work less and etc...

Might be premature - we're only a couple of days into using it, but I wanna toss out a mention to SHADERed - it's kinda like VS but for shaders. I like the dev tools & the ability to hammer out drop in ready code.

to be honest, you can have version control and still have the "wtf was I thinking when I created this code"

Yeah, I'm impressed how quickly the community handles it. Often it's gone before the site mods even see it.

Hi folks, just a quick PSA that the "Not an Answer" flag should be used for things that need moderator intervention, like someone posting a question/edit/reply as an answer in error, or an answer that's link-only, completely off topic, or just gibberish. An answer that is actually giving advice about the problem, that is bad/unhelpful/insufficiently detailed in your assessment, should be met with a down-vote rather than a flag.

Also, no stress. It's the spammers making work for us, not you. You do more than your fair share of civic upkeep already, and it's greatly appreciated!
Nov 20, 2024 07:36
yes, but posting code, asking politly, writing what was tried already, what it should do, what it is currently doing, any error that is thrown and if needed some screenshot usually gets you a good answer

That's also a feature: API obscurity rhymes with job security! :P

Usually I go for 1920x1080 unless I have reason to expect a different size (e.g. recently designing for an arcade cabinet with a 5:4 resolution). The Steam Hardware Survey still finds ~58% of users are on this res, with 2560x1440 at 18% and single digits or decimals for everything else.

@Arvex Asking about game engines themselves isn't a problem, but the nature of some questions are problematic. Asking things like which engine is best for X often ends up being a matter of opinion which something that generally doesn't work well here.

@fido9dido If your code is too large to expect volunteers to review, then you might want to consider hiring a paid consultant, or establishing a mentoring relationship with a specific developer whose insight you want to learn from.

Leading practice is to design for remappable controls from the start, so if a player doesn't like the defaults, or has a disability that makes them uncomfortable, difficult, or impossible to perform, they can change them to something that works for them. Consider allowing a mode toggle or modifier key in addition to the right click scheme.

my best success was using it as an ai in a card board game. All the agent got as input were all valid moves it could take per round, from there it had to figure out how to win the game

@Vaillancourt Not really, I found that it's more important to choose a team of people you like rather than a project you like.

The level set of a function is the set of x,y pairs where the function achieves a particular value. If we're using alpha testing with a cutoff threshold of a=0.5, the level set where alpha hits exactly that value becomes the dividing line between opaque and transparent rendering: between the fragments we keep and the fragments we discard.

A message from over 3 weeks ago is still on the starboard. This is unacceptable. Time to spew hot takes to fix that.
