You should probably focus on getting your project done instead. Falling in to the trap of building websites, logos, miscellaneous team merchandise et cetera prior to having an actual shipping product is a pitfall of many small, new indie development teams.

Why settle for juicing up your game when you can lean all the way in and juice up your code (text) editor?! For full effect, switch to marshmallow only lucky charms & pour Redbull on it.

Practice, building actual stuff and not just regurgitating book examples, is the best way to learn.

I really want to thank all of you, I couldn't have done this without your support. You cheered me up when I had lost my faith, and you never stopped believing. Thank you so much! <3

Q: What was the rationale behind the updating of 'changed' tiles in John Carmack's Adapatie Tile Refresh?

HashI was recently reading up on Carmack's Adaptive Tile Refresh, of which was written extensively in this thread, to implement in a hobby gamedev project of mine: https://retrocomputing.stackexchange.com/questions/22175/what-is-adaptive-tile-refresh-in-the-context-of-commander-keen I must admit that...

Q: The NEW new "Be Nice" Policy ("Code of Conduct") — Updated with your feedback

JaydlesUpdate: Thanks for all the additional feedback below. We incorporated a lot of your suggestions, and this is going live (as http://meta.stackexchange.com/help/be-nice). We're also looking at ways to get this in front of more new users when they sign up, to help them start off on the right foot...

I understand that SE says "Q&A and be nice about it, otherwise GTFO". It still feels unnecessarily hostile, making the site worse.

I'll take that over the old days of trying to search for A* & the engine trying to hand back the entire internet.

The rule of thumb is -- do you want to make a game? Use an engine. Do you want to make an engine? use a framework. IF you use an engine, pick an engine that you think you will enjoy working with -- AND that provides you with the functionality you require.

Then again basing the whole site on gamification, saying "reputation measures the trust of the community in you" and then turning around and saying "it's just imaginary internet points, get over it" is not nice.

I'm seeking feedback and critique on an 80s-arcade-styled game I'm developing. I'd love to hear about how I can improve it, or on what you think I'm doing well. You can play it on Windows, macOS, Linux, or web browsers. Any thoughts? jessetg.itch.io/chromavaders

By varied, I mean that I seem to do better when I have some variety among my tasks. Fix a bug, make a texture, read XYZ article as research, rather than fix bugs all day.

Further, seniority provides no privileges or special treatment, and I think it's quite rude of you to demand that an elected moderator not do the job he believes he needs to do simply because you've "been here longer."

And only just today did I squeeze past the line where I can see them after the fact ;)

There is frequently going to be a trade-off between perfect normalization and speed, so fast databases frequently have some data duplicated or cached. All routines that modify that data have to be maintained to properly update all the duplicated locations if they update one of them.
