Eh. Alot of people want to rake politicians over the coals for doing things for the sake of politics. Prioritizing the purity testing BS over practicality and compromise seems...like a large part of the reason we are where we are.
@DukeZhou Communication is hard, and I think that what happened was just you not having the easiest time communicating what your question was. Everyone knows exactly what they're trying to ask, inside their head, but translating those thoughts to words that everyone else can understand isn't always simple. I don't think it's a case of everyone else trying to punish you somehow; I think it's a case of the question just not being clear.
Latvian Girl Say, “I Want Go America One Day.” Father say, “I send you America.” Daughter is thank father. Make tears of happy. Father use to salt potato. Father think moment, say, “Daughter, I no send you America.” Potato needed more salt.
@kingledion "Jolly old Saint Neutrino, send a Joule this way/Don't you miss my detector; I need it today/Supernova's coming soon; I hope it won't pan/Just give me some energy: As much as you can."
I think we should do a go-around story (or whatever they're called). We'd start a meta question to get participants, then make a list in what order they will participate, then open a chat where each and every participant writes a single sentence in the order they were decided to write. Then we publish on the meta
This is exactly how it's supposed to work. Stack Exchange communities are primarily run by the communities, and a sign of a strong community is users like @Secespitus and others helping to guide others and maintain the site. Kudos.
“Llum de tarda” by Joan SorollaSilence. For a few moments there is nothing. Nothing to see. Nothing to smell. Nothing to hear. Not even the arrow flying through the air, straight towards me. No sound from the archer who must have drawn the bow. There is not enough time to get away. Reflexively I start to take a step back. Due to the magic I used to enhance my senses time seems to stretch, and …
@AndyD273 Rush is a terrible human that spouts hate to get ratings. Whether he is ACTUALLY racist, sexist, etc. doesn't really matter to me. And if someone wants to listen to long form Rush for context go for it...but I am not wasting time looking for that.
@MonicaCellio on that note, I do think it's worth saying that any TA community that votes to move to Codidact once it is released will get all the support and help we can give them to move
If there enough people here thinking about life after SE, we'd be happy to host you on TopAnswers. I'll keep a Factory Floor tab open for a while in case anyone wants to discuss how that might work.
@Mithrandir24601 I get the feeling that SE hasn't been the same for a while now. We're just getting increasingly visible manifestations of it as we move along.
@Mephistopheles what you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this chatroom is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
On other stack exchange sites, questions on malware are discouraged, but on worldbuilding you can get answers on how to destroy the world with a 17 minute turn around time.

@CM_Dayton "Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it."
Given enough time it wouldn't be all that hard to bring in fill to raise the level, especially over 100 years. One short clip, taken out of context, with important information removed, does not invalidate the argument, let alone allow for any judge of intelligence, or even wisdom.
With a lot of recent developments in quantum computing, I thought it would be interesting to write an article on quantum encryption and how it would affect communications in world building. This first part will cover how quantum computing works, using a little bit of math that is also introduced. What are you talking about? Classical computers encode information using bits, which can take the v…
Read an article once about advice for naming your kid. It had a story about an expectant couple that wanted to use some unique, weird name for their kid. So a friend advised them to go out on their front porch at sunset and yell the name as loud as they could 4 or 5 times and see if it still sounded good. They ended up going with something easier and more common.
WB makes me so happy. I've been dragging all morning but the thought of deploying a global thermobaric weapon based on the oxidation of Aluminum has turned me mood right around.
@FoxElemental Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious, if you say it loud enough you'll always sound precocious - supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
"Have you flown before?" "I've spent a lot of hours in training sims. They are basically considered legal aircraft." "Well, ok, this is an emergency... What are you looking for?" "The place where I type in the code for god mode."
