@GdD The thing is, while I am a scientist, I have barely any hands-on experience with data science/machine learning stuff. I'm sure I'd do fine at it, read some of the theory and have had some practice and none of it's particularly complicated so far, but a company isn't going to hire me based on "I'm sure I could do it"
@ElendilTheTall I need 1000 bumper stickers and a website six weeks ago!! Can you make me a down and dirty logo for Alaskans Against Slumlord Billionaires? AASB with the AA looking like mountains. Pretty please? Red, I think.
And meanwhile, I'm thinking if this is how they treat a seriously disabled but pretty feisty vet, how are they treating the English as a second language single mother of two down the hall?
The difference between a phone and a camera is the degree of control you have. Phones just take snaps, basically, and the only thing you control is the composition
Notice to everybody: I am going on vacation. Will be sporadically online 16. August - 08. September. Will be completely offline 20. August - 27. August (not even read access to e-mail. Going to a real mountain, yay!)
@Cindy if someone is a douche, their doucheness is usually apparent to everyone, even if it doesn't affect them. If what you're accused of is out of character for you, but making a malicious accusation is very much in character for them, people will usually draw the logical conclusion
Assume that 1 out of every 10 people who say they will write for the blog will actually write for the blog. Since I think we have fewer than 10 members who visit meta/chat, having any rules around it whatsoever would probably just kill the project.
@Cerberus Yup, we're down to wholemeal & chappatti flour. [Though we're still good for masa harina, polenta, cornflour[US starch] Besan/gram flour & a whole swathe of grains/pulses etc… so we're in no danger of starving yet. Fortunately we tend to always stock 'one bag of everything' so push comes to shove, we'll last a while.
There are great herds of the Horned Brioche roaming the tundra. The crashing of their horns as the bucks compete for the females is a sigh to behold. Crumbs everywhere. litttle scavenger pigeons swooping in with tiny spoons of jelly and butter.
