who changed my title :(
it was perfectly fine
@Dragonrage The original title accidentally a word I think
@twobugs let's ask our resident expert @KevinvanderVelden
Lots of low effort clickbait titles
It's like you're deliberately going on the wikia
looking for trivia points
then asking questions with them as answers
@committingsudoku at least we don't pretend we're dank enough to call ourselves "home of fandom"
d a n k a e s t h e t i c s
May 3, 2016 17:05
You wish your aesthetics were half as aesthetic as ours
@committingsudoku i didnt know the answer before i asked the question, so w/e
Our aesthetics multiplier is in the double digits yo
be upset at me and downvote all you want
a r q a d e a e s t h e t i c s = mod abuse
Can you not
May 3, 2016 17:06
now that's just chan-grade garbage
@twobugs Okay I'll just try to avoid typos next time
what next, greentext?
(That's probably a good band name)
@committingsudoku What are you, the zyzz of arqade
(rip zyzz)
I mean, I wanted to give you another chance but it seems like you just want to be really annoying
May 3, 2016 17:07
@Dragonrage I agree. It seemed like a very unnecessary edit.
I think the charge edit isn't that bad
A meme to die for
You guys really need to stop finding excuses to ban people you don't like
The "running into things" title just sounds really generic
Cancelling Reinhardt's charge is a reasonable title
pfft I might be the only person who likes retro here
May 3, 2016 17:10
@twobugs I love your avatar
@ChromeSlice I don't think taking up like 90% of the screen and posting swastikas is okay but I just ignore him
It's so cute
@Rainbolt Thanks :)
@ChromeSlice ... How often do we look for excuses to ban people that it's become a problem that we need to stop?
The last person who I remember got banhammered was UniKitty.
And that was definitely not a case of fishing for excuses.
I think we were pretty lenient with Unikitty
Guy just couldn't take any number of reasonable hints
May 3, 2016 17:12
didn't he pretty much just get banned for being annoying?
@ChromeSlice "Banning people you don't like" vs "Banning people who post offensive things". You should know the difference by now.
@ChromeSlice no, he got banned for posting swastikas.
@ChromeSlice no, no he did not
@ChromeSlice No, he made a TON of sockpuppets, among other things
@Fluttershy no that's not precisely it either
Yeah, I think we actually give people a lot of chances here
May 3, 2016 17:12
There is probably a correlation between "offensive" and "stuff I don't like"
the ban was for equating swastikas with people
Wait what
I think I'm able to have a little more discretion than a regular expression ;)
Did I miss something
@badp Wait, we bought him a van?
May 3, 2016 17:14
@Yuuki metaphorically speaking
Ah, the vanhammer
Would it be a hammer constructed from vans? Or a van in the shape of a hammer?
@Yuuki No, we ran him over with one

@twobugs I think it would be used for hammering vans
This van is made for running
that's just what it'll doo
May 3, 2016 17:19
One of these days this van is gonna run all over you
user15026
@Lazers2.0 The problem with this title is that it's kinda clickbaity (or can be read this way) and the other one was a little clearer as to what you actually wanted.
Yeah, that's how I feel about it
user15026
I don't want to get into an edit war, but in this case, I think the edit was a good one.
I think the edit was totally reasonable
user15026
So I am going to roll it back. Please don't make me have to lock things and take them to meta over something this minor.
user15026
May 3, 2016 17:23
Remember, at the end of the day, we want good quality stuff that people can find and not just HNQ bait (as fun as that rep bump can be)
Just curious, but if you did take it to meta, would you lock it with the title you like better, or the title the OP prefers?
@AshleyNunn Click bait titles are a meme here, unless a rule has changed somewhere. So I don't really see the issue.
i mean yea its somewhat clickbaity, but it still describes the problem fairly accurately
and we've had a lot more clickbaity and less descriptive titles before
and they have been left alone
@Dragonrage I don't think it makes it clear enough for anyone searching
Titles are supposed to be the public face of the question

May 3, 2016 17:26
If I have a question about Reinhardt I'm not going to be searching "running into things"
@Fluttershy right. But I'd someone edits them to something not baity, why rollback?
@twobugs this reasoning seems to only be applied when we feel like it
@Fluttershy We've also ruled pretty consistently that titles should still be accurate
user15026
@Fluttershy shrugs Just because we've reached memetic status, doesn't mean that undoing edits that try to improve content is the rule of thumb.
@Dragonrage Can you list an example otherwise?
May 3, 2016 17:27
@badp what about not editing if the asker has shown that they don't want it edited?
I thought the rule of thumb in an edit war was to respect the OP's preference.
let me go find one. there was one a bit awhile ago
user15026
@Dragonrage As with anything on a community this large, we aren't always going to catch every example contrary to the rule
@AshleyNunn No, but undoing them against the will of the asker kinda goes against what we try to do.
user15026
We try, but we're kinda all human meat people who sometimes suck at things
May 3, 2016 17:28
I'm not aware of even a single ruling of "We are going to stick with the funny title rather than an accurate title"

Yeah, funny titles are fine, so long as they're also a good title
Is there something that can be done to this question about Terraria? Except the highest-voted answer, the rest are downvoted. Should it be closed instead? Deleted?
@Fluttershy good question, seldom answered by a straight rollback
@Fluttershy Not really applicable, and I already responded to this
user15026
May 3, 2016 17:28
In this case, I don't think the question title is all that clear based on the body.
Woooooo!
20k!
SO MUCH POWER
user15026
@SaintWacko Congrats!
@twobugs I'm not sure how it isn't applicable, or how your previous response relates. The title didn't make the question inaccurate.
user15026
@Fluttershy It didn't, but it doesn't really make it clear, either.
Nor did it make it unclear, imo.
user15026
May 3, 2016 17:30
@Fluttershy I disagree.
@AndrewT. It's not really a complex question, but I'd say it's on-topic fine. We don't judge questions based on the answers, and it has a good answer. It also got protected a while ago to stop more low-quality answer.
@AshleyNunn And that's fine, but the rule shouldn't be applied inconsistently, as it seems to have been here.
user15026
@AndrewT. It's protected, so it's alright i think
huh
That's... interesting
cc @fredley
(he's british right?)
May 3, 2016 17:31
Well, okay, just curious. Thanks.
user15026
@AndrewT. No problem :) Thanks for bringing it up. :)
i mean this is kind of clickbaity in the same way

Q: What is the quickest way to level up?

O-OAre there specific heroes I should be playing? Is there a specific game mode I should focus on in order to level up quickly? I'd love to get that gold flair on my profile as soon as possible, and I'd like to understand the most efficient and simple way to level up.

@Dragonrage And it came under fire for the same reason
@twobugs it was also left as clickbaity
May 3, 2016 17:34
@Fluttershy Lot's of questions exist simply for historic reason at this point. A lot of those fall under it
@Dragonrage But it's more accurate and specific than "How do I not run into stuff?"
user15026
All I was trying to do was make one question clearer because as it stood, the title didn't seem to relate as well to the body as it could have.
user15026
I regret touching it, because now it apparently means I have to defend against every single clickbait title ever.
I agree with @AshleyNunn, funny question titles can be funny, but this title was trying too hard, and the question suffered for it
user15026
If you feel the chicken one could be clearer, edit it to make it so.
The new title should stand
