@agent86 Because going down = fastest growing site in the network.

@RonanForman Cringes at use of assignment operator instead of comparison

@RonanForman We're still smaller than Yahoo Answers though, and they've only lost 6 million users in the last year. :O

@John All that means is that now, "going down" is slang for "fastest growing site in the network".
So now our goal is to make sure the entire Stack Exchange Network goes down!

@GraceNote Yeah! Go down....to protest SOPA! Win-win!

Q: How can I get the data values of blocks added through ModLoader?

Dan RasmussenI have installed ModLoader and several ModLoader mods (light sensors, shelves, etc). I am also using Zombe's modpack, and am setting up custom build sets. @GraceNote hmm, there's probably a lewd "going down" joke in there somewhere, but it's probably forced and/or inappropriate. assume I made one that was borderline but made you giggle.

@agent86 I'm not much for giggling at lewd jokes, y'know.

@GraceNote this one was particularly good. You don't have to admit to giggling, but you did.

Not really. You misunderstand - it's not about disdain of lewd jokes, more of a lack of noticing them.

@GraceNote I didnt know you only need identification help. I've seen those sheets lots of times.

@OrigamiRobot I did say "seen". ♪

@GnomeSlice The music? I've actually considered just taking off my headphones.
@John I am game for this

@GraceNote ...I assume that means you don't like it?

@GnomeSlice Keep in mind, I don't have genre-based tastes in music, but more importantly I didn't really go there for music.

@GraceNote I figured. What does your comment about headphones mean then?

Yeah, she only went there because the thumbnail is practically of her.

@GnomeSlice It means I didn't really care for the music.
@John I don't have fancy headphones like that, though certainly not for want of trying.

Here, try this one.
@GraceNote Sennheiser px100.
Unfortunately, they've stopped production on them. =[.
For the price, you won't find anything that sounds even half as good.

@GnomeSlice Yeah, after discussing Sennheiser prices 6 years ago, I haven't entirely been fond of the prospect of buying from them.
All I really need is a pair that doesn't die out in a few years. I need survivability and quality, not just quality.

I love these headphones so much that I bought another pair to use when my other ones wore out.
Yeah... I'm hard on stuff... I've worn out two pairs of these. =[

@GraceNote That's Sennheiser for me. I bought them for durability, not sound quality. Plus, they have great warranty as well.

Somehow I don't think my computer is good enough to support GLSL shaders.

@GraceNote Sennheiser prices aren't that bad.

It may have been a particularly exorbitantly priced one I was looking at.

I got some of those for Christmas and have been very satisfied so far
we'll have to see how they do durability-wise

7:26 PM
@GraceNote The px100s went for like $50, I had a friend who had $300 Beats headphones, and he liked mine better.

I have 2 pair of those sennheiser PC151s, I think I paid $35 for the ones I bought most recently, and they are awesome.

Gah, youtube, why do you destroy the quality of my 3D animation video?

@GnomeSlice I'm using some earbuds I found in a parking lot.

That's the "why" of why I'm on airplane headphones

@GraceNote, another subject altogether. Do we have criteria for determining what a 'bad tag' is? I see a lot of suggestions and can make a pattern, but I didn't know if we had some concrete notes on the subject or not.
@ArdaXi well, as chief of sennheiser's marketing and PR department, I can answer authoritatively that... no, wait, I don't work there. beats me.

@GraceNote resolder?

Binaural means it has two audio channels.
Literally, it means "relating to two ears" which I hope goes for any headset.

@ArdaXi I understand the combination of prefix and word that yields that definition. as to why they picked that term, I have no clue.

@agent86 Excepting the obvious points like "meta", "ambiguous", "worthless", and "too narrow", the main thing is, if it isn't a tag you're going to subscribe to, does it create a meaningful categorization that people will enjoy in the subset within the game? If not, then it is likely to be bad.
@IanPugsley I don't know that I'll do that properly, and getting a new pair (eventually) seems like a better long-term plan

7:31 PM
@agent86 they told me was a bad tag

It is!

@GraceNote this is pretty much my impression. Some tags have survived burnination before that I think met this criteria for badness, and they passed through the fire unscathed. Just wanted to make sure my tag-spotting-lazers were properly calibrated.

Can any of you even tell what's going on in the 3D animation I just linked?

@agent86 Things that survive burnination include things that went under the radar.
@GnomeSlice I think it'd require clicking the link.

@GraceNote T_T

Specifically, @Ronan, this one.

I have no idea why youtube ruined the quality like that...

@GraceNote yes it was mainly to point out to @IanPugsley that he inadvertently referenced the very thing he despises most

@OrigamiRobot oh dear lord I said the word "shun," I must be referencing an awful internet video

@IanPugsley You could probably talk to me tomorrow and we'd both forget that I'd ever even seen the thing.

quick, somebody said "horse," they must be talking about Get On My Horse!

Plus, making the same reference every shun request would get old, neh?
It pays to have a repertoire of referencial references.

@GraceNote this is true

@IanPugsley this is what people will think

7:39 PM
you never realize how many references we geeks/nerds/etc. use until you're around regular folks and start making uncaught references

@IanPugsley Don't you mean 'amazing horse'?

@GnomeSlice I hate that one too (which I why I don't know the name of it)
and now I hate you :p

Why?
I think it's funny. But I don't post it all over the place.
Then again, I was watching weebl's stuff long before amazing horse.

@IanPugsley It's like how few people will catch "Ouchu is right"

Because you know what it is? Or something? (I was joking)

7:41 PM
@IanPugsley is this like unhandled exceptions? will we make reality crash to desktop?!

@OrigamiRobot @Tristan Rainbow rod. And flamethrower. :D

@agent86 I thought this was when you were tired at work?

@GraceNote I don't actually know that one...

@IanPugsley You have no idea how many times a day I do this.

@John is the flamethrower sooooooooooo good?

7:43 PM
@agent86 it makes your social standing crash to desktop

@OrigamiRobot I haven't used it much yet. >.> I've been busy...uh...casting rainbows. <.<
Although roasting the WoF is on my todo list.

@RonanForman quick question - tried resizing that Terraria video the other day and the resulting video (while the correct size) made it to 48GB in like 10m of rendering (more than 4x the size of the original video). Am I forgetting some sort of compression settings?

@IanPugsley Wow....

@IanPugsley What file type is it?

@RonanForman avi

7:45 PM
That's why, use H.264

recorded via PlayClaw in 1080p, set to high compression
@RonanForman easy way to do this with VirtualDub?

@IanPugsley If I could remember who the author of that flash was, I'd tell you more. But it comes from an ancient flash video waaay long ago (great, more fuel on my agelessness) about Asheron's Call. And dying.
My recollection is that I found it through nuklearpower but I don't want to say I'm 100% certain on that.

I think flag weight might be broken
by which I mean, conceptually

@tzenes Nah, really?</sarcasm>

@tzenes Woah... haven't seen you in a while.

7:47 PM
I caught myself gaming it today without even realizing

@GraceNote I actually played some Asheron's Call (and was an Evercrack addict way back) but I wasn't a big internet joke person back then

I'd go through and anythign that had 3x not an answer flags, I flagged as not an answer

@tzenes Reflagging posts in the flagged list?

At what point am I no longer adding value?

@tzenes If you're 10k, that works.

7:48 PM
my flag list is only made up of posts that have been flagged or have low quality

@IanPugsley The flash wasn't anything particularly special but "Ouchu is right" was a memorable point (it is a response to a spectator saying "ouchu" when hearing that the author died).
Hey @tzenes~

hi @GraceNote

@IanPugsley Check under export options.

@tzenes I believe the point of this is to speed to the top the posts that need action now. You reflag the most severe, it gets pushed up, and the mods deal with those first.

@GraceNote lol, I'll see if I can find it later
@RonanForman will do - thanks

@John my complaint is not what is on my list, my complaint is the flag weight algorithm

@IanPugsley I found the flash itself (just google ouchu asheron's call), but I can't find where it was hosted. I was never in the Asheron's Call scene myself, so I found it somewhere completely else.

I don't think it's providing value

@tzenes Yeah, this is my strategy when flagging as well, review the flag list and the "review" list, for the most part. Also checking new answers to my questions and such, as well as watching new questions as they show up.

7:50 PM
It was around the time that ALL YOUR BASE first got big, though. So, yeah, eons ago.

@tzenes Me neither. But it does get people to flag because it's another stat people obsessively try to get higher.

I don't think it's getting people to flag
I think it's getting people to say "me too"
which has demonstrably less value

@GraceNote We know you're older than Ian and younger than Tristan. That doesn't leave many years.

@tzenes All those under 10k can't see your flag list though.

Ideally it should encorage people to flag actual questions/answers
ah
I did not know that

7:51 PM
@John As far as Ian is concerned, I'm apparently a hundred years in between the two.
If not more

I think that's part of the process; flags as "votes" that something is bad.

Could be more. I could be like 495 years old.

it doesn't add as much value as finding new things to flag
but I think it still adds value

I don't know if it adds any value

and the review pages are pretty much designed to help you find things to flag

7:52 PM
or, at least, statistically significant value
I would be surprised if any flags after the second are any indicator of correctness

the only value showing me this list has is for me to disagree

well, you could go over to meta, and ask them to take that into consideration when determining flag weight.
but they may decide that it isn't a big enough deal to warrant changing the algorithm

maybe the issue isn't the weight, it's this flag list I"m getting

like, the first person to flag something gets more weight than the 4th or something.

7:54 PM
@tzenes It's something that may figure in, but different mods put different weight on the volume of agreement, so to speak.

yeah, I don't handle flags, so I can't say how much utility the 4th or 5th flag gives it

@GraceNote Thats why I think a statistical analysis is warrented
mod agreement over number of agreeing flags

I think that value is unfortunately going to be skewed

@GraceNote I like 10,000 - nice round number

possibly

7:56 PM

I think the reality is that after a certain point (n number of flags) perhaps they should be vote to close answer

@tzenes Ooh I like that.
But what would closing an answer do?

I know at a certain rep I can vote to delete answers
perhaps that number is too high?

@tzenes It's 20k IIRC.

@tzenes Any flags from 3k users that match a close reason auto-convert to close votes

7:57 PM
@tzenes it's 20,000 rep to vote to delete

@GraceNote Not on answers.

Well, you can't close answers to begin with.

@GraceNote I noticed this and was confused at first after getting above 3k :)

interesting
@GraceNote I never knew that

And technically, the hope is that at 20k, you should be just voting to delete when appropriate, not flagging. Flagging is meant for things that require moderator intervention.
Part of why normal users can see a subset of flags at 10k is for them to act on them, not just to flag in kind.

7:58 PM
Well, I don't have a delete weight, and I'm pretty sure it requires 3 votes
how many 20k+ users do we have?

5 non-mods.

@tzenes 7. 2 of which are mods.

so odds are low that an answer will be deleted

@GnomeSlice Why is that so big?

7:59 PM
Oh man, these trailers make me cream myself.
