@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ am still infected. Swelling will persist for, and I quote the urologist, "6-8 weeks"

Oh jesus, I hope he isn't using the SE definition :/

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ "6-8 weeks"? :O
:D I did it.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ This is not the worst thing ever :/

Q: How to generate Eucledian rhythms without Bjorklund algorithm

Dim DimAn example of how this works taken from here A Euclidean rhythm is loosely defined as a sequence of beats and silences, where the beats are distributed as equidistantly as possible. With discrete and relatively short sequences this produces interestingly sounding results. The rhythm is describe...

Hey @quartataMonkey

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Q_Q GET WELL SOON

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ But "6-8 weeks"... :P

@Geobits wait... Does that mean Rick Astley is normally that bad???

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ idonnowatdisis >_>

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ No comment

5:10 PM
@zyabin I ignored your messages because I don't want to get into a argument/kickmuted from TNB. I'm not really paying attention.
Sorry. It's not about you, it's about me.

@NewMainPosts Thanks, we're not interested!

Also, brilliant top comment:

ihaichu
@El'endiaStarman makes sense to me though. :P

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ a new pokemon?

5:14 PM
What is ihaichu? >_>

The form after Raichu.

It's not a Pokemon, what this is? >_>
@Geobits But :P on the joke.

No, it is one, coming with sun/moon later this year. You give Raichu a shadow stone to evolve it. It's ghost/electric.

<_<
I'm still unsubscribed from Pokemon games after OR/AS. >_>

So, you haven't played all the games since then? >_>

5:20 PM
I didn't buy any Pokemon games. >_>

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ what does shift-J do in vim?
It seems to remove the next newline

The same thing anything does in vim. Something totally unexpected.

The only Pokémon game I've played was Red, and that was last year, mostly because of Twitch Plays Pokémon.

Red is.... not really a good intro to the series any more, unless you're really into retro gaming.
It was great when it came out, but it hasn't withstood the test of time as well as it should have.
Stupid leading one should be another three.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Don't be so good to him.

?

He had an answer in a language specially designed for a challenge.

5:34 PM
@Geobits Congrats! Now get it to 13337 rep!

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Must be deleted then. The only answer I see is in ECMAscript. Everyone (well, most people) learns the rules at some point.
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Oh, that wasn't directed at you.

@Geobits It was deleted.

So no issue then. Right?

I should, early or late, find some answers with 0 bytes and review them.

@Geobits okay
@Geobits yeah
zyabin: yes, but I can still say hey?
(i looked in incognito mode)

5:39 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Yes.
Hey.
But still, I already have un-ignored you via mobile sometime ago.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Good question. It stands for "join". It takes the line after the cursor and joins it with the current line with a space. For example: v.tryitonline.net/#code=Sg&input=SGVsbG8KV29ybGQ

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I had to unignore everybody after a short experiment with it. Chat just got weirdly confusing. It turned out to be easier for me to just mentally ignore people :(

There's also "gJ" which joins without a space. v.tryitonline.net/#code=Z0o&input=SGVsbG8KV29ybGQ

So basically, V is a free engine for striking keystrokes into Vim, without fuss.

5:44 PM
Yes, but it also adds features.

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ ooh cool
@Geobits :(
probably will do that
unignored

For example, loops and regex's are significantly shorter. I'm also going to add math functions, which vim has next to none.

^ my life motto

Maybe with fuss of converting Ctrl- and Alt-strokes into understandable by V.
How to convert keystrokes with modifiers?
And Ctrl-C/Escape?

5:47 PM
Well, each key with a modifier maps to a real ASCII character. The pain is that a lot of them are unprintable.

(I'm used to Ctrl-C to return to Normal mode. It never gave me up, never let me down, et cetera.)
@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ How?

Ctrl-a == 0x01, ctrl-b == 0x02, etc. Alt adds 128 to the ascii value.

Okai.
Escape is the literal ESC char, Backspace is ??? (maybe unneeded), and Return is the literal CR char.
What is Backspace?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ My cakes are usually eaten before they even see the oven.

Very moist that way.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ 3-2 now

Is it possible to compile Linux from Scratch on a Windows system? :/

@TimmyD What the heck is wrong with this word, or with the relationship of society with this word?? Whenever someone uses it people start acting like 13 year olds hearing talking about boobs.

6:00 PM
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 no.
iirc Scratch can't compile kernels

@flawr I dunno. I haven't figured it out, either. That doesn't mean that I can't exploit others getting squeamish about it and repeat it when it comes up.

@flawr I like the word moist as a word. Not for the connotation.
Anybody here used roll20.net?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I used it once like 4 years ago and was pretty underwhelmed. I've been on their newsletter since and it looks interesting now, but I haven't gotten back into it.

I used it about 3 years ago and was also pretty underwhelmed

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ >_>
It's this

6:04 PM
@TimmyD okay
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I know.
I was beig a troll.
@TimmyD okay thanks. I've been considering joining or whatever. D&D sounds fun but nobody near me plays. I did check for like comic book store or whatever though, the only one has no RPG group.

get a bunch of nerds and ask them if you can join their group ;)

If you can get over- and underwhelmed, can you also get justrightwhelmed?
(middlewhelmed? or interwhelmed?)

Chat mini-challenge: given an input number x (float, could be positive or negative), and an integer n (guaranteed positive), output x^1 - x^2 + x^3 - ... x^n

@muddyfish I know no nerds irl. :(

@TimmyD Geometric series?

6:09 PM
@_@

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ thats a bad sign of where you're living

So I can't just go and make infinite programs for each n.

@TimmyD 1-(1-x^(n+1))/(1-x)

@muddyfish correction: no nerds that aren't doing a phd at the local colleges

6:10 PM
ahh

@flawr :D

@flawr I've seen stuff like "I am whelmed" in Imgur comments.

This is a good formulae, I'll steal it :D
I tried to. :(
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Not ^, **.

@flawr Gah, you found the trick
;-)

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 damnit

6:12 PM
@El'endiaStarman just looked it up, to whelm is actually a verb.

Julia, 27 bytes:
x->n->(1-(1-x^(n+1)))/(1-x)

@TimmyD It wasn't obvious at all.

^
But I did find it myself.
But copy/pasted from him because MS word formats suckily

@flawr whelm, v.: to bury, submerge, or engulf

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Professor Layton.
It's a DS one, so I'd say 1, 2 or 3.

I got it from this ^

6:48 PM
@flawr I'm sorry, but swiss chocolate doesn't seem to be extra tasty. :/

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ What kind of chocolate did you get?

swiss chocolate?
I don't know the brand. I ate it all.

My friends and I bought an .xyz domain. I'm on a roll with this domain thing... checks wallet

Theres a ton of different brands=)
probably even more
And I also do not like all of it, and I certainly do also like chocolate from other countries.

@VTCAKAVSMoACE where is your blogythingy again?

6:50 PM
Even 'murican chocolate=)

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ So what kind of chocolate do you like?

My tumblr page is truly memetic.

Same effect, tempered glass, super strong but explodes as soon as there is even the smallest crack. That's why you can shatter those windows by throwing a piece of sparkplug at them.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 127 iirc

ohai @DrGreenEggsandHamDJ

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ Uhh, Backspace != Delete.

?
delete key != backspace

Delete removes chars after the cursor, while Backspace does before the cursor.

7:02 PM
no
delete is a key
not a character
delete is a special function key, like page-up

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ ASCII 127 disagrees with you
4

I just looked it up. Backspace is 8, del is 127

@TimmyD So ASCII 127 is basically a cannibal among the characters?

oh, TIL.
Somebody explained it to me once, THEY LIED. I WILL HUNT THEM DOWN and teach them to ask the PPCG chat first.

7:07 PM
@flawr Om nom nom
Also, 0-31 are properly "control characters" as well. Just because they're non-printable doesn't mean they're not characters.

language warning

> so no, gfy...

lol

People keep teasing me bots for being bots.

But at least they aren't this bad:

While we're on the subject, are there any encodings that have all control characters as printable?

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ Seriously's encoding does, I think.

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ I don't understand the question. do you mean encodings which encode each byte as a printable character?

@VTCAKAVSMoACE That's good to know. Does it leave the regular ASCII the same?

By definition, a control character is non-printable

Well, darn.

7:12 PM
@MartinEnder No, I meant an encoding that displays ascii 0-31 as printable

Then it wouldn't be ASCII

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ You mean bytes with values 0-31.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Holy moly. I knew they were strong, but that strong?! o.O

@VTCAKAVSMoACE sure. That.

ikr
@El'endiaStarman epic though, right?

7:14 PM
@El'endiaStarman The base plate is quite clearly lead, I'm not totally surprised.

I stopped using Google because it doesn't work.

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ Jelly uses a custom code page.

@wizzwizz4 please stop posting so many xkcds.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Ok. :-/

You get caught up, but it can be annoying. OR you can post to the sandbox?

7:16 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Sandboxes are sandy. You can ruin comics by getting them sandy.

@HelkaHomba What even does that mean.
I mean, I know it's Twitterese, but still. I can't understand it.

@TimmyD Trump had a "Trump Univerity" from 2005-10 that taught people to make money in real estate (for a hefty fee). But now it's the subject of 3 class action lawsuits for fraudulent practices

Yep, I knew that.
But he's saying that after all the litigation is done, he's going to reopen it? Is that what he's saying?

Apparently

cause he's stupid

7:25 PM
I don't understand either
