What's 1.3.0.1?

and 1.22 has 115 (x64) + 214 (x86) downloads

Ooh, rubberduck
That's right

9:09 PM
I need to publish something on RD News tonight. It's been too long.

I'm gonna download RubberDuck this evening, and start bug-hunting, and learning VBA.

Q: Isometric City Building Game

bazolaI have recently been working on my first game with an isometric perspective. For those who don't know, an isometric perspective is a pseudo 3D view created from 2D tiles. I am working off of this tutorial about isometric graphics. I believe my approach is fairly clean and efficient. I have tri...

@EthanBierlein you have VS2013?

I have 2015, does that still work?

I suggest you fork the next branch instead of downloading the last release

9:10 PM
Ah, okay.

next is at 1,360 commits
master has 1,005
there's been a few bug fixes ;-)

holy....

I'm going to download the zip of next, rather than fork it.

@EthanBierlein the project will probably open in VS2015, but if VS is consistent with its previous history it's going to prompt to "upgrade the project", which will break it as far as VS2013 is concerned
...

I still have VS2013.
So I should be good.

9:13 PM
cool
there's a registry key you need to add manually to register the add-in with Office though

^^ come here when you're ready

@Mat'sMug I can do that tomorrow. I already have one 90% written.

you mean RD news?

I just want to add in stuff about new refactorings Hosch built.

cool

Yeah.

9:15 PM
awesome!

Work's slowwwww right now, so it's no biggie.

sweet!
words!

Dude, I wrote more cover letters today than one duck sized brain can deal with.

@Mast if you have 6 buttons, how can you have a middle button?

> Any attempt to tell you how I could make "an immediate and substantial impact" on your company would be bullshit and (in the immortal words of George Carlin) bullshit is bad for you. Instead of pretending that I could tell you how I could do that, without knowing the internal machinery of your company, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you some things about myself that may not be clear from my resume alone.
That one ^ is either going to get me an interview, or permanently black-listed.

9:20 PM
^^ that your cover letter?
lol
> bullshit is bad for you

One of them. Yeah. Lol

@Mat'sMug l, m, r, f1, f2, f3

w, t, f

left, middle, right, function 1 through 3

She requested a "letter of impact". I'd say that had an impact.
Are you playing Robuzzle @Vogel612?

9:22 PM
no, why?
or rather... what the heck is that?

Oh. It's a nifty little game. Has a similar syntax.

@Vogel612 must be some gamer mouse. I'm old-school, I like simple things, like a mouse with 2 buttons and a wheel.

Oh! We're talking about mouse buttons! D'oh!

Q: Efficiency of algorithm to check if a point is on screen

PipI'm working on a tile-based game, and am looking to improve the efficiency of my code to slightly improve framerate. I call this method on every tile, every frame, so it is very performance critical. What optimizations can be made? public bool OnScreen(Vector2 point) { Rectangle rect = this...

@Mat'sMug The two usual on top, a wheel (3rd), an extra sticking out slightly on the left button (4th) and two on the left side (5th and 6th)

9:30 PM
gamer

@Mat'sMug Kind of cheap for a gamer mouse though, only €20

that's like $50 over here

Yea, can't help it that dollars ain't worth !@#$ anymore

even worse, $CDN

9:31 PM
Wow. I used to have a wireless mouse with lights. Then I replaced it after I found out that it drained a pair of AA batteries in two days.

@EthanBierlein Wired mouses all the way. My wireless (on work laptop) runs out every 2 months, even if I turn it off after a day of work.

Q: Running alarms in python

williambellwisdoMy code is designed to simply trigger alarms; it is not supposed to be used by anyone but me. import subprocess, time, threading, winsound, sys, basepipe commands = '' def alarm_checker(alarms): """This will be the main threaded process, and will be the meat of the program.""" global comma...

I feel like it's too soft.

"soft" as in this kind of answer?

I need upvotes, but I need answers more! Come on Code Review! http://codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/92096/efficiency-of-algorithm-to-c‌heck-if-a-point-is-on-screen
wow, and he got 2 answers in < 20 minutes, and accepted one already. does he know that some questions haven't gotten an answer in ..uh, 4 years?

Q: Python code for fast tag replacements

TimThis uses the Stack Exchange API to quickly batch replace tags in questions. I still need to fully comment and make the Wiki, but are there any glaring mistakes in it? I have tried to use try: except: wherever I can to prevent any errors, and have attempted to make it compatible for python 2 an...

@Mat'sMug not optimal!

This is better suited to the Code Review Stack Exchange site. — Tim 50 secs ago

I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because it is about optimizing working code (SQL) and not a programming problem. It is possibly more suitable for Code Review instead. — Ken White 17 secs ago

@SimonAndréForsberg right, it would have been 400 otherwise ;-)

@KenWhite this code demonstrably does not work (see Bob Kaufmans' comments) and is accordingly off-topic for codereview. Additionally optimizing working code is in fact a quite specific programming problem. Style-recommendations and general reviews are not. While CodeReview also does performance-reviews, questions asking only for performance are not that well recieved there, since they do not allow critique on every aspect of the code (which includes styling, best-practices and so on) — Vogel612 18 secs ago

@Vogel612: Thanks for your input, but you're incorrect. According to the poster, it works and simply needs to be made faster. Code Review was specifically created for peer review of code in order to make it better or more performant. — Ken White 25 secs ago
I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because it is asking for a code review. try codereview.stackexchange.com — Daniel A. White 50 secs ago
For this type of question, try codereview.stackexchange.comcolecmc just now
@KenWhite The definition of 'working' is different between CodeReview and Stackoverflow. Simply running without erroring is not enough to be deemed 'working as intended'. Just because it runs it doesn't mean it does what I want. I can assure you that the question is currently not aceptable for CodeReview. If you wish to discuss this matter further feel free to drop me a notice in chat or ask on meta — Vogel612 8 secs ago

@Duga @Vogel612 I think that question is acceptable. Not a very good question, but I don't think I would VTC it if it were posted on CR.

@SimonAndréForsberg It's broken. The results of oneof the subjoins are definitely incorrect, it's inane to select with IN ()
Also the join condition for one of the tables is incorrect resulting in an extended result-set by cross-joining instead of correctly inner-joining
That's two reasons to say that the code does not actually produce the desired results, whether OP may realize it or not.
If it weren't for the comments by thah Bob Kaufmann, I'd share your opinion
Hmm SQL basics.....

Q: refactoring repetitive code for functions triggered by scroll

ReganPerkinsThis code adds and takes away background gif images on scroll. I will be using this for 12 images on the same page but the code looks like it will get incredibly repetitive. my main concern is to get eventsGif() and teamsGif() to be the same function (since all 12 will be using the same sort of...

Q: Slick2d TiledMap Slope Collision

MattKosI am implementing a game using the Slick2D library and I am a little stuck on my player's collision with slopes. @QPaysTaxes well even with only playing around, you should have seen joins..

Okay apparently for being familiar with a site, you don't need answers or questions or activity on it...
Wtf condescending 80k Stackoverflow user....
Check the latest comment, Duga didn't pick it up

this should really be posted here: codereview.stackexchange.comVic 25 secs ago

@Vogel612: Apparently we agree to disagree. I'm familiar with both this site and CR. I really don't see any need to discuss it any further; IMO, the question should be on CR, and you don't think so. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view) it's my vote to cast as I see fit. :-) If others don't agree with my view, the vote will expire. — Ken White 7 mins ago
Also apparently 80k So Users can now cast voted for migration...
