Canada girl doesn't have an accent. Also, she's not a bit annoying, but short, sweet and to the point.
@Mahnax Haha.

@SpareOom Everyone has an accent.

Yes, I know that. I was paraphrasing her, and agreeing.

Oh, sorry. I didn't bother to listen to her. I got sick of the game after a while yesterday.

10:08 PM
She must sound like the newscasters here. Maybe because Peter Jennings was Canadian too.

OK, I don't know who that is.

Well, I've been listening off and on. Maybe too much all at once.
Peter Charles Archibald Ewart Jennings, CM (July 29, 1938 – August 7, 2005) was a Canadian American journalist and news anchor. He was the sole anchor of ABC's World News Tonight from 1983 until his death in 2005 of complications from lung cancer. A high-school dropout, he transformed himself into one of American television's most prominent journalists. Jennings started his career early, hosting a Canadian radio show at the age of nine. He began his professional career with CJOH-TV in Ottawa during its early years, anchoring the local newscasts and hosting a teen dance show, Saturday Dat...

I'm not good at telling one North American accent from another. But then, I've never spent any time trying to be good at it.
Roughly speaking, I divide North American voices into "says y'all" and "doesn't say y'all".

Some of usn's say y'all but only in informal situations fer funnin'.
Would you divide me in half?

Not you. Maybe just your voice.

10:15 PM
@DavidWallace Are you the person who divides girls' voices into whiny and not whiny as well?
3

Gee, I'm never going to live that down, am I?

@DavidWallace Nope. :D
Wish I'd been around when it happened.
Fran Drescher = whiny!

Ooh, don't tell @tchrist!
Actually, "whiny" is not the word that springs to mind when I hear Fran.

Grating?

I think "nasal".

10:20 PM
Yes. That also works.

Yeah, nasal and a bit grating. But I'm more willing to accept that as "just how she talks", than for other types of whininess.

I just don't know if that's her real voice or not.

Bah, I have to cook dinner.

Yeah. Dinner too.

She didn't seem as nasal in that other program she was in recently - can't remember what it's called, but the one where her husband was gay.

10:22 PM
Unfortunately, I've been given approximately no notice, and my house is quite low on food at the moment.
BRB, scoping out potential ingredients.

@DavidWallace I don't know that one. What would be his point in marrying her?
Later folks.

@SpareOom that's what I thought. Or to self correct before David, she doesn't have an accent different from GenAmE
@DavidWallace Fran Drescher is whiny in a way totally opposite to how the girl from Mississippi sounds (which is not at all whiny). as in opposite. of whiny. Did I mention opposite?

Looks like I'll be making hash browns, scrambled eggs, and corn.

10:37 PM
Whiny in the opposite way, as opposed to in the opposite way whiny?
@Mahnax What about corn fritters with Worcestershire sauce?

@DavidWallace Erm…?

Of which part are you seeking clarification?
Actually, it's not really a dinner main. More or a lunch or a side dish. Forget I spoke.

OK then.

Dude, make up your mind.

I wanted one star. But the interface wasn't co-operating.
Of course, if I had just spelt it correctly in the first place, we wouldn't be having this problem.

I see.

Q: Asking a Professor to coach my team

Shashwat KumarI require a Professor as a coach for my team in a programming contest. I want to ask a professor about the same. But the professor does not know me and as far as I know, there is no any work for the coach. Its just a formality. What should I mail to him inquiring about the same?

closethxbai.

And I shall have to berate KitFox mightily for my current Britney-inspired earworm. As soon as I get it out of my head, there it is on the right hand panel, and it sneaks in again.
Is there a politeness.SE or something similar?
Etiquette.SE maybe?

Nope.

How-to-ask-people-for-stuff.SE

The tag etiquette is synonymous with the politeness tag though.

I feel a site proposal coming on, so that people like this one have a place to go.

Etiquette

Proposed Q&A site for anyone lacking social skills wanting to find out how to react in a particular situation; about social conventions, customs, social interactions, social situations and behaviours.

Currently in definition.

Ah, well there we go then.

Ayup. And with that, I will away to the kitchen.

THere. Just upvoted some questions on it.
Good luck. See you.

11:36 PM
Good evening, loyal viewers. Tonight we're coming to you live from Mahnax's kitchen.
Looks like he's switched it up last-minute and opted for chicken strips over eggs.

Hello.
Chicken strips, that sounds interesting.

@DavidWallace no whininess. at all. for the Mississippi girl.

@Mahnax Which came first?
@Mitch You. seem. very. insistent.

11:52 PM
@Mahnax Want some please.
@DavidWallace Don't look at me. Reg was the one who posted it a few days ago.

@KitFox Damn, and now it starts again.
