Good news!
I'm hosting a computer programming and game design class at my school next year

I love good news!!
Oh. That sounds fun

It's always fun to teach what you love
For a year, of course.
Dealing with brats can get annoying
aha

@KitZ.Fox I don't think so. People actually to do agile.

oh snap

I think people only rhink about playing nomic
@KitZ.Fox hahaha

6:08 PM
@Jdoh what extra article?

@Mitch Well where else would you skate

@MετάEd is that nostalgia or anxiety?

@Mitch Yes. And contentment.
@Mitch I've actually played pretty extensively.
And I'm a bit agile too.

titters

6:10 PM
@MετάEd how did it go?

So what ought I do for the next video then, @Matt? What do you like?

@Mitch Sometimes hilarious, sometimes contentious.

@KitZ.Fox am I your target audience? I'm not a tingler.

I want to read a short story, but I need something to do for visuals.

6:19 PM
@MattE.Эллен I think I have a target audience of approximately 8 people.

And you're one of them!

> Offensive behavior is better avoided / be avoided / to be avoided here.
Which would you choose? Do they mean different things?

Offensive behavior is better avoided.
Be avoided is incorrect.

I guessed so. What about the third one?

6:20 PM
Offensive behavior is better to be avoided. Hmm. I guess that's OK.
It's better to avoid behaving offensively.

@KitZ.Fox Thanks. Does it mean something different from avoided?

Often, sieve behaviour is better. Avoid Ed

@Færd No.

It's funny how you get quick answers in this chatroom, while on the main site,
0
Q: Offensive behavior is better avoided / be avoided / to be avoided here

FærdSuppose that there's a rule about how to behave in a society (a school, a chatroom, whatever) that goes: Offensive behavior is better (1)avoided / (2)be avoided / (3)to be avoided here. I suppose #1 is grammatical (see this question for example), but I'm not sure about #2 and #3. There m...

@Færd but you'll only get one opinion

6:24 PM
Yes, but you can discuss it.

Somebody please reply 'no you won't'

Well, neither one is perfect. But this is still better than nothing.
@Mitch :D

@Mitch opinions are like assholes. Everyone has two or three.

and mine is awesome

So you're saying I have well-groomed opinions?

6:28 PM
Well pruned?

I appreciate them.

A topiary of opinions

@KitZ.Fox Oh, I thought you were talking to me.
Well, anyway!

@Mitch Pruned so well it may be overripe...

Well plummed

6:33 PM
Just Peachy

A dried peach should be called a 'prunch'

feels the need for a porn.SE

why
you monster

wonders if he's the only one with a perverted mind

'Can anyone give examples of rule 31?' Closed as too broad

6:36 PM
[insert joke about the female gender][insert closed as too broad joke]
We need a meta meta.SE

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver That's chat.SE, supposedly.

@Færd meta chat.SE

insert joke about insertion

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver Hash it out on meta first.
@Mitch inserted
^
It's too late at night for me to engage in this type of conversation.
Sleep well when the night comes to you.
o/

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver there's a chat.meta.se if that's any help
@KitZ.Fox I don't know what I want

6:45 PM
@MattE.Эллен I want a meta.chat.se

well you can't have it

@MattE.Эллен but i wanttttttttttttt ittttttttttttttttttt

unless you do some kind of clever redirect with your local name resolution

6:58 PM
it's in my face, but I can't grab it

Thou Shalt Not Kill
Thou Shalt Not Work On Sunday
Thou Shalt Not Dance
Seriously though the Bible says anyone who works on Sunday should be put to death.

The bible says a lot of things
But it brought us the one day weekend (followed by the two day weekend)
And corn flakes

The bible says there are seven days in a week. It's all made up clap trap

the bible is weird, but fine

Tempted to become a Christian so I can not work on Sundays because 'lol it's my religun so i dont have to conform to logik and workin'

7:07 PM
May 6 at 13:23, by Mitch
@MετάEd days of the week, opiate of the masses

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver That would almost definitely not get you out of working.

@question_asker Whatever amendment gives freedom of religion also allows you to escape work according to the beliefs of your religion

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver I used to work at a place where there were employees who didn't work one of saturday or sunday, even though the rest of us were working 12-16 hours/day, 7 days/week.

@MattE.Эллен Definitely. If you know what's good for you.

leaves work early...as vicar

7:10 PM
Well, insofar as you can get away with not working - that excuse won't go far with most businesses that expect people to work on Sundays. So if you're in an office, you're probably fine. If you work retail... not so much.

avoids Ed

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 umg ur ofindin my religun
it says i don hav 2 werk on sundays
bigotttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt‌t

@Færd The standard on the main site is verifiably correct answers. Here in the chat room that standard does not apply.

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver um. you're trying to be funny, or something? But my point is that the thing you're joking about actually does happen.

Then again, of all the Christians I've known, I've never known any who refuse to work on Sundays.

7:11 PM
@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver No it doesn't.

they got to take the day off because it was against their religion.
@question_asker I have. And some (7th day adventists) who refuse to work Saturdays.

The Bible says anyone who works on SATURDAY should be put to death. Get your Sabbath straight.

Ah dang
I just remembered Sunday was the day he rested

@MετάEd well, they moved it.

I associated Sunday with that, of course.

7:12 PM
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Yeah, I don't think none exist, just that it's not very common.

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver He rested on Saturday. Actually he rested from Friday evening to Saturday evening.

and again, a lot of places would tell you to find another job if you tried to pull that

Then why is Sunday special?

@question_asker I refuse to believe that you are adopting a reasonable, nuanced position on this topic!

"And the evening and the morning were a big nap for God. And God saw that it was good."

7:13 PM
"And God hugged his teddy bear Sqeakums tightly"

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 I'm only a idiot jerk most of the time

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver The Church moved the sabbath to Sunday

@MετάEd you mean everything been lying all this time?

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver Because a Saturday Night Special is a whole other thing.

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver Anyone who works on the sabbath.

7:13 PM
@Mitch s/lying/ignorant/ftfy

sab·bath
ˈsabəTH/Submit
noun
1.
a day of religious observance and abstinence from work, kept by Jews from Friday evening to Saturday evening, and by most Christians on Sunday.
I meant Christianity.

also for the record I support any grift that gets you out of having to work

[ SmokeDetector ] Offensive answer detected: What's the origin of "lit"? by KING on english.stackexchange.com

@question_asker Be a member of every religion
An excuse for every day
@ArtOfCode Hey look Smoke was wrong for once

Well, for Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

7:16 PM
None for Tuesday?
Make a religion up

Wow, that's a great answer
(the "lit" one)

That's weird. Why did Smokey pick that up right now?

@question_asker yeh bruh that answer wuz lit af

@question_asker that's grift for the mill

7:17 PM
@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver it often is, actually
Forgot to tell you lot that it's running under my account until we get the real Smokey back online

To make corrupt bread

'cos Undo went away and (we think) knocked the Pi it was running on out

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver SmokeDetector is often wrong, but even when it is literally wrong it is often bringing a low quality post to our attention.
In this case there was a comment posted as an answer.
@KitZ.Fox New answer posted.

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver It's Tiu's Day.

7:19 PM
@MετάEd I thought it was Tyr's Day.

@MετάEd That doesn't seem to be the case here ("comment posted as answer")

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver maybe it is a bigot and 'young intelligent black male offended it'

Tuesday is a day of the week occurring after Monday and before Wednesday. According to some commonly used calendars (esp. in the US), it is the third day of the week. According to international standard ISO 8601, however, it is the second day of the week. The English name is derived from Old English Tiwesdæg and Middle English Tewesday, meaning "Tīw's Day", the day of Tiw or Týr, the god of single combat, victory and heroic glory in Norse mythology. Tiw was equated with Mars in the interpretatio germanica, and the name of the day is a translation of Latin dies Martis. == Etymology == The ...

You're both right!!!

@question_asker Lost you there.

7:20 PM
@Mitch I was trying to start a war. sighs

@KitZ.Fox Will it be fun?

I guess not.

While 'Wokday' is Wicca's day

@MετάEd Become a follower of the Norse religion
There's Thursday

@MετάEd Oh, the way I read what you said was: "This time, it was correct in calling a post out, because the post in question was a comment posted as an answer" but it was not

7:22 PM
@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver I'm more of a Friggan.

@KitZ.Fox haha. Aggression sadly averted.

@question_asker It was not correct about its diagnosis, but did point to a questionable post. Which is often how it goes.

@MετάEd I'm confused, then: which post was questionable? The linked post was fine.

bbl bai!

Frigga yeah

7:24 PM
@question_asker The one which was posted only minutes ago.

Hm, OK

@Mitch Wokday is when you make Chinese food.

Today is Spagheday

Tomorrow is Taco Tuesday

There's Lackaday ... it's the opposite of a Leap Day

7:34 PM
And then there's Monnight
And tuesnight
Wednesnight

Doomsday ... but only in the Marvel universe.

It's like regular days but only 12 hours long.

And there's Faraday. That's the day to clean your faucets.

And Deadday
That's when, ironically, you celebrate only the living

Washday. Every year we celebrate Birthington's Washday.

7:36 PM
And Piday
Where we celebrate crusted baked goods

And then there's Today. Jam tomorrow and jam yesterday, but never jam Today. Which is the origin of our word Tojam.
@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver I'm in.

@MετάEd I saw this awesome Pi pie.
It's pretty cool

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver Was it frosted? If so can you identify the Pi pie piper?

Nice pi pan.

7:42 PM
I want one.

I didn't know this was a thing. I saw a restaurant called this, and thought "you didn't think this name through very well, did you" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pizza-ghetti

I want a marzipan. Or a brain pan. Or maybe a peter pan.

Best cake
Warning: He's a little bit of an angry guy

Surely somebody is already selling a peter pan.

I'm positive I've seen peter pans

7:44 PM
They're available for cakes.
Pan cakes, presumably.

@Mitch Reminds me of my favorite paradoxical sentence
We're having spaghetti for dinner last night

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver I know. You were going to invite me.

Wonder why that stuck with me...
@MετάEd I did today!

It willen haven be yummy.

We're having it last night, hope to have seen you then

7:46 PM
I mayan meetan con with dinan on-when.

@MετάEd You're Mayan?
How interesting

@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver yes, aztecase. (Incase you were wondering.)

1 hour later…
9:17 PM
@Demisemihemidemisemiquaver I mayan have been joking.
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 I live with 2-½ women, 5 cats, and a dog. That’s 5×9 + 4 = 49-½, just where I live.

9:47 PM
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 or by your count 5×9 + 3½×2½ + 1 = 54¾.
