@CowperKettle because these people prattle "correlation doesn't imply causation" like a religious hymn. I have the rare experience of both studying drugs and being a long-time consumer. Sometimes one develops this irrational dislike of having to take drugs that manifests itself in a variety of ways, including skepticism.
I mean, having to take pills outright depresses some people.

So... eating carbs during a bicycle ride could be a dumb idea if the ride is less than 1 hr?
Studies in sports medicine just reek of shoddiness.
