Somehow I think the sentence is strange, and yet it looks too good to be written by the OP, so I searched for it and found only 3 hits!
(And I didn't have to search for the whole sentence, "kept on being cheered" is unique enough.)
I think the problem with kept on being cheered is cheered seems to be intended as a verb, but kept on being seems to sound more natural with an adjective not a verb+ed.
