6:00 PM
Also in the traditional Jewish setting, it is apparently 13-14

I choose not to understand it though

...probably for similar reasons

@Danu But that's at least not gender-specific

Humans suck sometimes.

@Jimnosperm True, true. Men become 'adults' in Iran at 14, btw. Identical rules apply in Saudi Arabia

6:02 PM
@ACuriousMind Usually in the privacy of their own house with another consenting adult

@Jimnosperm "adult"

@Danu "consenting"

@Jimnosperm "house"

@Danu "privacy"

"Usually"

6:04 PM
@ACuriousMind "the"

"""

!!!

"ACuriousMind"

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!

Uh...what just happened? :D

6:04 PM
This was beautiful

Pay attention

It's like 4chan counting to 20

@ACuriousMind evidently, some in the thread don't quite grok the concept "humiliated". I wonder if they would be 'humiliated' to know that I find them unworthy of a second thought?

@AlfredCentauri Aren't you second thoughting them now?

@AlfredCentauri Alfred, I do wonder... Why do you always appear to be so annoyed/aggravated at rather small issues like this? Or is it just that I'm misinterpreting the tone from your writing?

6:06 PM
@AlfredCentauri Yes. Yes they would. (Also, what @Jimnosperm said)
God, you can't even abbreviate as Jim because there is your minion around!

I may be wrong, it may be second thinking
not second thoughting

Yeah, it's second thinking
probably

@ACuriousMind I'm not sure why he hasn't changed his name yet. He regretted Jiminion but so it remains
I like second thoughting better

@Jimnosperm No, actually, my first thought is that their opinion is of no value to me and that's that.

@AlfredCentauri when did you have this thought?

6:09 PM
@Jimnosperm Either he has forgotten that he can change it, or you've got a fan.
Let's ask him
Hey, @Jiminion, why are you still Jim's minion?

@ACuriousMind Everyone is my fan

@ACuriousMind I'm a lazy minion.

We work so well together. I ask nothing he does nothing. Harmony

If I was back to Jim, it would still be an abbrev. problem..

Plus I'm Jim
.... We may have a spartacus problem

6:12 PM
Plus, being a minion to a Canadian adds an extra level of degradation.....

You're american right?

@Danu perhaps it comes across as annoyed / aggravated but it isn't meant any other way than as a dry statement of fact. It seems that, on occasion, this annoys / aggravates others.

@Jimnosperm Yes! Pardon me for not being louder/more obnoxious/fatter/etc.

You say it's degrading to be a Canadian's minion, but whose flag do your countrymen wear when going abroad to Europe? Ours. Why? Better to be a Canadian than an American

@Jimnosperm Sry, just joking.

6:16 PM
Me too. Stereotypes are unfair. Just pointing that out

@Jimnosperm Have you heard this? : When they created Canada, they were seeking American Government, British Culture, and French Cuisine. But instead they got American Culture, French Government, and British Cuisine.
@Jimnosperm Americans and Canadians have a very special relationship, even if Americans can be jerks sometimes.....

@Jiminion Have not heard that. Not really true either. Our government is English, our cuisine is American, and our culture is Hockey (praises be upon it)

@Jimnosperm True true. Canadians have this rep for being so nice and polite, but not in a hockey rink!

@Jiminion special...... that's a word

Ignore me, guys. Showing a friend chatjax

6:20 PM
@Jiminion We invented a few sports. Basketball was too pansy, so we gave that away. Lacrosse wasn't cold enough, so we mostly ignore it, but hockey was just brutal enough and fast enough and cold enough to be perfect

$\int f(x) dx$

Besides, it's hard to be polite all the time. Gotta let the rage out somewhere, eh?

Lacrosse is a pretty tough sport as well.

It's hockey with net sticks and no skates
and more hitting

My roommate got knocked over in a lacrosse game and couldn't move for 10 minutes. No more contacts sports for him.....

6:28 PM
Hockey without contact just isn't possible. Lacrosse without contact is just boring
Canada is a weird place. One of the few where we measure time in units of distance and distance in units of time
"How far is it to Doug's house?" "Oh about 15 minutes" Or, "How long until we get to Bob's?" "About three more blocks"

@AlfredCentauri :)

3 hours later…
10:11 PM
Wikipedia says a bispinor is an element of a 4-dimensional complex vector space considered as a (½,0)⊕(0,½) representation of the Lorentz group. Georgi defines a group as a mapping $D$ from a group $G$ onto a set of linear operators such that

1. $D(e)=1$
2. $D(g_1)D(g_2)=D(g_1g_2)$
What does (½,0)⊕(0,½) stand for? Is that a direct sum? If so, what kind of mathematical objects are (½,0) and (0,½)?

@StanShunpike You should not jump into the representation theory of the Lorentz group if you have just learned what a representation is
Try something nicer like $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ or $\mathrm{SU}(3)$ first
In fact, I'd heartily recommend understanding the $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ representations, because they are among the building blocks of the Lorentz representations, and interesting in their own right, because they are connected to angular momentum and non-relativistic spin

Alrighty, I'll start with that.

11:04 PM
Hey @Danu,
A few days ago it was nice and hot in Santa Barbara and I started craving lemonade. Then I remembered that I'm an adult with a job and money and I can buy lemons and make lemonade whenever I feel like it. So I bought lemons and strawberries and made strawberry lemonade. It was damn good.
Anyway, the point is I agree with you that lemons are delicious.
@Jimnosperm I don't know why people are so bad at it but it's awful. I spend almost all of my time on this site now fixing grammar, punctuation, and horrible titles. It's really sad.
I kind of want to propose that if you can't be bothered to spend the time to type carefully enough to respect your would-be readers your question should be nuked.

@DanielSank I appreciate you taking the time to make the site look better, but if it makes you feel bad, you should stop doing that.
But the punctuation thing is really mysterious. I get people might not be good at grammar or orthography, but you really shouldn't be able mess up putting dots at the end of sentences.

So that's why it's having hiccups @Danu and others!

11:45 PM
@DanielSank I applaud your actions
@ACuriousMind Cool beans
