Hello everyone

Is this matrix spin operator (in x dimension) for bosons?
$$S_x=\begin{pmatrix}0 &0&0\\0&0&i\\0&-i&0\end{pmatrix}

Q: Maths question on physics SE; how to proceed?

HunterSo we have had some recent discussions on whether pure maths questions be on topic (see here and here). It seems that the majority want to make the policies less strict, and so my question is: will the moderators change the policies? Note that this question is not meant to spark the discussion o...

how to see who down votes you and why??

@user43004 You can't
I mean, some people here are nice and let you know why, but there is no requirement to letting someone know why you downvoted

@Sklivvz are you a se dev?

@vzn yep
@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut uh, some users here are adamant that there are actually magnetic monopoles so that would be incorrect ;-)

@Sklivvz speaking of monopoles, does anyone have a simple laymen's reference / description for why some people believe that there only needs to be 1 or a handful of monopoles?
I would think that if monopoles are possible, that doesn't mean that any actually need to exist. what does having 1 or a few monopoles do for the universe that simply allowing for them to exist without actually existing not do?

AnixxWhy this my question has been closed? Is this picture of the universe valid?

@bra I agree. It's possible, maybe likely, but not at all certain. Nature knows.

@BrandonEnright maybe you will find this interesting: damtp.cam.ac.uk/research/gr/public/cs_top.html and in particular the section "Why do they form?". (Note that it is generally believed that magnetic monopoles are topological defects if they exists.)
