although true session management like opera does is still not available

you can get around it by treating a window as a session though

GITS broke a lot of norms

I used to use thunderbird also before gmail was sorta good enough

actually I think I just put a bolt on reinstalling thunderbird and importing my profile for the millionth time

I don't really use email that often

@Gao a lot of the installs are on government funded computers and that means minimal paid software, so ubuntus and other linuxes, and they come with firefox, and a lot of the times the users of these computers are doctors, students, social organization workers and other sorts of people who don't need addons

you should also definitely reinstall windows at least once a year if you see it slowing down from the initial first two months state

no amount of ccleaning can achieve those results

too much hassle, takes all day just to install sql server

it's just mozilla products that are slow now

oh and windows update was SLOW when i did reinstalled windows

my computer probably got owned already in that timeframe to download and install updates :P

i remember it takes 4 minutes for an unpatched windows xp connected to the internet to get owned

@Hakase i'm just getting over mine. still not over it enough to laugh my ass off from Mrs Browns Boys without getting a really bad cough

man Windows 10 sucks ass. not sure why my laptop is unaffected but there's a bug in it that prevents user selected default programs from being saved. which means Windows 10 keeps making IE11 as the default browser despite me telling it to be Chrome

also there's this microsoft bitlocker program which is absolute shit. you set up a password to encrypt the OS Partition which you have to input when the PC boots up....and it's separate from your windows login password

@Memor-X Is that with or without the anniversary update?

i don't see the point. if someone knows the encryption password then they should know the login password so they not make the 2 the exact same thing.

@Riley not sure. we're being forced to upgrade from 7 to 10 because head office wants us to use the same Skype service they use. no other reason. when i checked the windows update it says Windows 10 was up to date and there were no other updates avaliable

@Riley actually i think it might have this anniversary update going by the screenshots of the start menu i am seeing. ofcause this bug with the default programs has been around since Feburary apparently and the only real way to fix it is a registry hack which prevents all Metro Apps from appearing in the Open With Dialog

there's also some other crap stuff about this new setup. the backgrounds for desktop and lock screen are locked down to use the default windows wallpaper with the company name pasted in the corner which means there won't be any scenery images (which is my fall back if i can't have anime). a notice on boot up login reminding us every time that these pcs are company property and only authorize personal are to use them for work

and a firewall warning saying that the system admin is handling the firewall. it's almost as if they don't trust us to not screw up the system

there's only 1 encryption password and it's per hard drive partition, but there may be multiple users per computer or per multiple computers even, so that's one good reason to decouple them

also if you're having issues related to anniversary update, I suggest you go fuck around the sysadmin until he does what you want, about installing a fresh pre-updated build from msdn with anniversary update and included fixes for it, which he can get from msdn

updates of older versions tend to get fucked up over time, but ms-issued image files are historically free from these issues
