Q: Does anyone know the name of a manga where the glasses characters change when their glasses come off?

There is a manga i read that had three male characters and a female character and they all wear glasses. When they take off their glasses, they change. Like the girl is a fighter without her glasses. I don't remember the name of the manga and i hope someone can help me.

Krieger hall is on the other side of campus. I've been there, but from what I saw, there were no display models. I don't actually know if they're open right now, but I suspect not. Most academic buildings are supposed to be closed for Winter break right now and require key access, which would likely include them. I'd guess the store wouldn't bother opening at least until Intersession next week.

@Mysticial Most obvious thing to me is that they don't state which branch of the cube-root function to take. For the example to work though, you need to take the real-valued cube root, so I'm not sure that's what you're getting at.

More to the point, if you assume that the cube root is real for positive arguments, the only way the equation will have positive integer solutions is if the second term is real and negative, so that seems like the only really reasonable interpretation. But maybe if you pick a non-principal cube root for the first term, there could be positive integer solutions on other branches.

Other than that, it seems like a reasonably well-defined problem, though not one I could answer exactly without writing some code, so I'm not sure what other issues could be present.

Anyway I guess the way I'd do it is to take the equation and convert it to a polynomial in a,b,c. Should be able to get it into the form b^2 c = p(a) for some rational polynomial p. After that it's just a factorization exercise; just loop over the values of a and for each one find the number of factorizations you can take of the resulting number which satisfy the constraint.

Not sure how to optimize it further but for the limits they have there it should take less than the age of the universe to run on a modern computer, so it's solved in my book.

Reparameterizing that initial equation to remove the radicals was not easy. If I hadn't recognized that it took the same form as the generic solution to the reduced cubic equation (x^3 + b x + c = 0), I wouldn't have been able to do it.

That said, I probably don't know any or the more advanced techniques.

In this case, they want you to take the negative cube root, but in a complex analysis course, you'd probably take the cube root along the ray with angle $\pi/3$ from the positive real axis.
