@JonGrah welcome to the site! Excellent answer about Thai visas

@JonGrah you can open a room with anyone but it's a public room
I need to remember to bounty this question when it'll be eligible for that

You answered the Q about Languedoc - do you think tag [occitaine] might be preferable?
(Though does not exist at present.)

chx
1:43 AM
Occitanie (French: [É”ksitani]; Occitan: Occitània, Catalan: Occitània) is an administrative region of France that was created on 1 January 2016 from former French regions Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. France's Conseil d'État approved Occitanie as the new name of the region on 28 September 2016, effective 30 September 2016. The new Région Occitanie should not be confused with the wider cultural entity of Occitania, of which the new administrative region is part. The new region covers an area of more than 72,724 km2 (28,079 sq mi) with a population of 5,626,858. == Toponymy == As ...
Maybe.
It's a tough question

2:06 AM
Ah! NOT [occitaine] then :) I meant [occitanie] - does that make the Q easier?

7:42 AM
@chx @pnuts @JonathanR thanks for the feedback.

I didn't actually mention great answer - but I agree it is!

3 hours later…
10:30 AM
@JonathanReez We do not have such a tag. I am not sure how to define it, but of course if you think it's needed I will endorse using the tag where appropriate :)

10:42 AM
@pnuts please stop meddling with those tags. It is a form of vandalism and we need to redirect your OCD to something more productive.
4
You can fix the country tags for example

10:55 AM
@chx can you add the SAR procedure for Hungary? And @JonathanReez you for the Czech Republic?

11:27 AM
@GayotFow search and rescue procedure?..

11:45 AM
@JonathanReez no, this one..........

Q: How to fill out and apply for Subject Access Request (SAR)?

KatieI am on the SAR website and confused a bit as to how I may go about applying to figure out gathering my travel history/personal information/ traveling restrictions and what not on my passport. Thank you. https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-data-protection/principle-6-rights/subject-ac...

I aspire to getting answers from the 28 EEA members
So that the whole ball of wax is covered.

can I create a new Q?
28 As would be too much...

12:06 PM
@GayotFow I've checked the law and there is no such thing in Czechia
you have two options:
1) Apply to request *specific* information about a given subject. In the UK it's called a FOI request
2) If you know the number of your case files, you have the right to obtain a copy of them
I guess you could request a FOI asking for all of your case numbers and then ask for a copy of those files in a second request
You can also request your full immigration history for a small fee of 1 euro
but no 'single stop' option as in the UK

chx
dude i have no idea
@GayotFow here's a fun one
@GayotFow go to bmbah.hu even if you do not speak Hungarian click "Adatvédelem" or switch to English and click "privacy". it doesnt go anywhere. there's no such page.

chx
12:26 PM
@GayotFow i found the law, i found a note in a PDF which says the procedure exists
@GayotFow beyond that, dead end
@GayotFow http://konzuliszolgalat.kormany.hu/download/8/78/30000/ENTRYFORLONGSTAY20120327.pdf this PDF says "If requested by the applicant, the consulate and the Office for Immigration and Nationality within its jurisdiction
shall provide information regarding his/her data on record, unless the Aliens Act prohibits the disclosure of such
data. If the consulate determines, whether by the initiative of the applicant or ex officio, that any particular data on
record is incorrect or has changed, it takes prompt measures to have such incorrect data corrected or removed
@GayotFow and then it jarringly continues with the particulars of the photograph you need to give for the long term visa because this is the long term visa procedure
@JonathanReez isn't a FOI about public data?

chx
12:59 PM
@GayotFow here's the SAR request document naih.hu/files/… from the Hungarian Privacy Authority, it's what they created after the privacy ombudsman was axed. Theoretically you could send this to anyone in Hungary handling personal data and they should as per law give you whatever personal data they handle
@GayotFow but since the immigration office can't even be bothered to write a privacy policy, i will let you guess how effective this is

@chx here FOIs cover everything. You can request private data about yourself as well
I've used them a couple of times, but not for visa matters
I will write a detailed post if someone actually asks

@JonathanReez and @chx can you guys write the answers for your respective countries? I think it would be profoundly helpful to the site, thanks
Create new questions if needs be
@JoErNanO can you add one for France or etc?

chx
1:15 PM
@GayotFow i cant
@GayotFow there's nothing
@GayotFow unless you want to be the one who sues the authority for not even having a privacy policy

@GayotFow Why did you change avatar? Are you trying to confuse me?
:)
@GayotFow Where should I add what for France? I missed part of the discussion.
@RoflcoptrException ^

1:31 PM
thanks!
gone

Thank you!

chx
1:49 PM
@GayotFow so to sum up, there's a generic info request form but there's nowhere to send to, no processes outlined and in general, the answer is spreads arms

@JoErNanO somehow my chat avatar got buggered, I don't know how but suspect it may have been one of pnuts thingies
@JoErNanO and the answer I asked you to provide is how to do an SAR in France or etc

@GayotFow Yeah it's definitely @pnuts fault. Or @JonathanReez. :D

@JoErNanO we really need to get that OCD channelled into a productive endeavour.
good civic behaviour

chx
Yes
I am writing an answer

@GayotFow Who is OCD?
And why do we care?

2:05 PM
@JoErNanO ocd = obsessive compulsive behaviour, like editing 100 questions.

Why would editing question be OCD?

chx
@GayotFow it's the answer Hungary deserves but not the one it needs right now.

@JoErNanO it just is, you can ask @pnuts about it some time.

chx
2:21 PM
@GayotFow i updated my answer
one more update
this is a smaller one
@GayotFow am i allowed to link the only lawyer you should talk to if you want to do this?
@GayotFow there's an entire dynasty of lawyers, the founding father recently passed but his son, a former Minister Of Justice and his grandson, an MP is still there and their office is the only one I would consider
@GayotFow because they are officially political opposition already their carrier won't be in jeopardy for suing the government , most others won't risk it.
@GayotFow i just don't want to spam or such

3:11 PM
@chx your call, you are an established user on the site, no?

@GayotFow Somewhat erratic gravatar changes (even "within" one 'site' - eg chat and 'main') were being experienced on SO some months ago. I think supposed to have been related to imgur. They may have fixed themselves before long without user intervention.
@GayotFow I have suspended all editing until after the election at least. Jonathan made me a deal that could not be refused.
@GayotFow Please clarify "those" in "those tags" and what it is than you think is "vandalism" about what I have done. To me it seems odd that repair of broken tags is considered 'vandalism'.
@JoErNanO Where fault is concerned it is MINE and I'm NOT sharing!

3:46 PM
@pnuts It throws everything out of whack, you already know about it. I am in the constituency that doesn't like it when everything is out of whack. My personal eccentricity if you will.

@pnuts Splendid. :D

@GayotFow But repairing broken tags is trying to get things back 'in order'. They went 'out of whack' as (an inadvertent) part of an 'ordering' process.

4:34 PM
For example tying to combine the two highest score tags here
(I think I have already cleared out [svv].)

4:55 PM
@pnuts What we desperately want is for everything to be wonderful.
And this can never work if we must always play Canute

I thought at least 'better than at present' was what I was working towards.

The country tags for example

You mean [uk] used along with say [standard-visitor-visas]? (If more than one country I'm not sure what you mean.)
Also not sure about Canute. He demonstrated he could not roll back the incoming tide. The poor quality of what 'washes' into TSE is a tide of sorts but even if not possible to stop dead in its tracks it can be reduced (by example) and 'mitigated' (by edits) (IMO).

5:43 PM
May I ask, @RoflcoptrException, how's the vote count?

Thanks.

2 hours later…
chx
7:31 PM
@GayotFow ok then i edited again

1 hour later…
9:00 PM
Crazydre sure knows a lot of people who find themselves in odd border-crossing situations

9:23 PM
@chx It is an example of one reason I don't like hypotheticals. To answer "How to fill out and apply for Subject Access Request (SAR) in Hungary?" with "you can't" is not great, though the alternatives offered may make the most possible of a "No" answer. However, by the time someone really does need to know the situation may have improved (ie there is a way). So there is an ongoing monitoring requirement (to stay up to date) just in case - and a Q&A that may not be of use to anybody.

chx
I am on the case
I have emailed a private watchdog about this
that they dont have a privacy policy is a huge deal
i am very seriously contemplating suing myself
but first i will try to find someone else to do it :)

Taking a stand is noble and can be heroic but never a good idea for the individual (eg whistleblowers).

chx
that's why i emailed atlatszo.hu first
and will fish around for other relevant organizations
it's very hard to overstate the importance of this in the current Hungarian political context
I am slow on emailing media because then it will be a total circus real fast

As now a Canadian you have (if a little more "protection") a good excuse IMO not to get right to the front (exposed!) of any campaign.

chx
Yeah I would rather stay hidden for the consideration of my brother who still lives there

9:28 PM
Ah! Stalin days.

chx
Yes!
We are already a problem because we run a school-ish and that's very seriously frown on

An example where the information was needed would be bound to carry more weight (at least with the general public) than an objection in principle.

10:28 PM
@chx How do you add a bounty to a question that already has an answer? I thought it was for questions that have not had an answer yet?

chx
after 48 hours there's an add bounty link imo

10:41 PM
yo
