12:13 AM
congrats! You were probably in the airport when my friend was leaving, amusing
I've gone to get blood tests the past two days, and decided to use uber for the first time. Such good experiences! Really impressed with the drivers and cars, and they were cheaper than cabs too.

Q: Marital status for re-entering USA if you got married abroad without registering?

Sridhar-SarnobatIf I came to the US as a single student on an F1 visa, then during college vacation got married abroad (but did not register it in any country) is it okay to declare my marital status as single? I'm concerned they'll deny me entry if I attempt to enter the country since I don't have the intent to...

Q: Can you mail yourself to another country? Any country?

Mark MayoThis idea comes from this BBC article. They point out that all crates are screened these days, but I'm wondering if perhaps an airline wouldn't mind if you did it. Presumably it wouldn't be an international one....but if there's anywhere that DOES allow this, either to travel in the cargo hold, ...

Love the article in this question

Q: What items to prepare and bring along for a beach visit, Asian style

pitoukhmerInternational Women's Day is coming very soon and will be celebrated here on Sunday 8 March, 2015. In my country we will have three days of holiday. My wife with my lovely little daughter and I are planning to visit the beach (SihanoukVille city, Cambodia). What items should we bring along and ...

surely this is too broad :/
'how do we occupy ourselves, Asian style'? What does that even mean???

2 hours later…
10:19 AM
@MarkMayo True, cargo holds are pressurised.

10:30 AM
@ HenningMakholm Ah crap! I learnt something new today. :)

11:03 AM
that makes it a good day :D

11:26 AM
@MarkMayo done with the surgery?

Yup. Always learning something new.

@JoErNanO but gear compartments are not..

@MarkMayo I would not push nor pull any luggage cart if I were you. If I understand correctly you should avoid any strenuous effort, regardless if it's lifting or pushing. ;)
@MeNoTalk True but that would be freight-hopping more than human mail. ;)

@JoErNanO depends on how you look at it..
sending yourself with mail, is mailing.. isn't it?
finally I got some good sleep today.. 7 damn hours.. its been a while I didn't get that

Yup but mailing in my view implies packaging.
Good for you. :)

11:32 AM
mark is petite.. as seen in photos.. maybe he can fit in an envelope... so it is mailing :D
@Relaxed I just noticed that comment..
I am a muslim, and find his comment silly.. although I do not blame him, ISIS and the like did their homework of making all muslims look like killers..

11:48 AM
They did their homework, that's true.

Well, I am not a muslim and I do blame him
That's just nonsense, whatever you think about Islam, ISIS and the like a terrorist attack and a supposed danger for single women to be assaulted are just entirely different things
It just doesn't make sense outside of some warped racist view of the world

I know what you mean.. but earth is full with naïve people who take the media for granted and believe everything..

1 hour later…
1:00 PM
And what??? You ride in a rickshaw? Eat monkey brains??? What's asian style?
Sorry dude, Us gaijin don't have any clue

@GayotFow whats up? what was it? vodka?

An OP wanted to know how to enjoy the beach asian style
I was going to comment: "Bring chopsticks"
but better sense prevailed

oooh, ok now I see it.. because for a second, I was lost :D

Totally racist

lost signal again...

1:09 PM
@MeNoTalk What does 'asian style' mean to you?
Other than about 2/3 of the human race :) :)

it means that the OP is confused and lost..
for me, I could have told him to bring math puzzles.. that's "Asian style" for me..

LOL
:)

:)

1:26 PM
You philosophers.

@JoErNanO For getting into Venice whilst avoiding the traffic and reducing the cost to a ridiculously cheap 16 Euro, there's a very very slick inside tip.............
Or if you want to go straight to the Lido and skip all the hub-bub...

USD 1000 for a rabies vaccine!?

@Relaxed I didn't know there was a vaccine for that

5:19 PM
It's a bit of an unusual one apparently
You still need two injections after a bite
It just helps treatment but does not make it entirely dispensable

I'd buy a ticket, spend two or three days and get the vaccine cheaper in that place, then continue with my original plans, and it would cost me less than 1k..
my cousin was bitten by a street dog, and according to him, he got many shots in his stomach.. my cousin adds salts to stories anyway.. not sure it is true..

Yes, but you do need several injections in this case

several injectons, the vaccine?

@MeNoTalk I just read the standard treatment is five shots
Fewer if you have been vaccinated before
Yes, the vaccine is three injections over a month

so he was right it was many shots.. is any of them in the stomach??

5:22 PM
At least here
Don't know if there is some protection already after the first shot

I was vaccinated for Hip B when I was 20 or so.. the one with three injections over 2 months or so..
then, one time a passenger needed CPR in one of my flights, and I had to give him mouth-to-mouth CPR for a minute or two until my colleague brought the mask..
anyway, the lady passed away.. days later the office called me and told me that the lady had Hip B...
they stopped me from flying, to told me to wait for a few weeks until they can do the test to make sure..
of course I was not infected when they did the test a few weeks ago because I was vaccinated.. but still, I was scared to death in that period..

If possible, the vaccine should be injected into the wound

this was around 2005 maybe..

Are 'sociopolitical nuances' on topic?

@GayotFow in the UK, when you invite someone for dinner, once they arrive they go directly to the table? or is it like us, they reach earlier and hours later the dinner is?

5:32 PM
They show and sit in the family room
Unless it's a really formal affair
in which case they stand
But never to the table until it's announced

I remember having a topic about this during my intermediate school, it was English class about customs..
I think in the future, all people will be the same with this globalization thing..

And when you go to dinner at the residence of a British ambassador abroad
You wait until the piper pipes you in
oh you mean about the op asking about the doors?

@JoErNanO I don't understand ”Should you really wish to fly asking with your with luggage”

no, the dinner thing

wait, let me look

5:40 PM
As long as I have an Internet connection, I can stay in this contest indefinitely with Schengen questions
It seems the reserve is infinite!

i can't find it, where is it?

Now, I just noticed something highly disturbing in this chat room
Ah no, sorry, I misread

what was it?

I thought it looked like I said that France is dangerous because of its muslim population
Because I quoted the troll who said that yesterday
But nobody starred that, fortunately!

@Relaxed it is time to change your name again :D
annoyed, relaxed.. whats next?
Disturbed

5:48 PM
I am now breathing deeply to remain relaxed :-)

:)
I am thinking of putting my real name again.. and my real photo..
except that, when I changed them I start to get more rep... for the obvious reasons ;)

I was tracked down via linked in by a person here who had a question but was too scared to ask publically
so it doesn't matter your real name or not

6:12 PM
I have no issues with my real name... everyone here knows it.. and knows my ugly mug..
but I once deleted my account, and when I returned after I cooled down I changed it.

did you do a rage quit?

yes..

6:31 PM
Delete all your stuff?

You can't do that I think
But it's not attributed to you anymore
And your votes go away
Your questions and answers stay there with a name like “userXXXX”

yes I did.. that's why you will see me "member since: 1 year, 1 month " while I am here more than 3 years..
I lost the votes I gave, the flags, many other stuff.. but I kept the votes I received..

@MeNoTalk Sorry about the comment, explanation is forthcoming

@Relaxed no problem..

People lose their rep if you voted for them

6:37 PM
@GayotFow yes..

I had that on the main board a few times

@GayotFow when I quit, some people lost 2k rep..
or 3k, I remember @hippietrail lost a lot, @MarkMayo as well..
no, it was around 1k..

Don't do it any more :)

nah

7:01 PM
@MeNoTalk In fact Schengen visas are for anything, if the stay is under 90 days
Medical travel, business, cultural travel, studies, whatever
Not only tourism

I get it,, the thing is, the purpose might be different, but all of them are under the Schengen short term visa.. except one catch here..
if the original reason does not match the purpose of the current travel, will that be a problem...

But of course if you want to work, you need some paperwork before applying for a visa, you can't just send the regular form and say ”By the way, I am going to be working”.

?
for example, you applied for a tourist visa, but then you want to go for internship..

Yes, that's a problem

funny thing is, I have a passport full of Schengen visas to attend trainings in the EU, mostly IATA ones, but I always submitted the invitations and stuff when I applied..

7:06 PM
Yes, that's how it works

but, his question give me the impression that he HAS a valid Schengen visa, and he is inquiring if it will be good or not..

But what you get in the end is a regular Schengen visa, not a specific Schengen visa
Maybe, I will reread it
Not sure, it's not very clear, I added a sentence to my answer about that
OK my sentence makes no sense
What I meant is that when you presented your invitations, you got a regular Schengen visa, not a separate “training” visa.

while Germany actually provide a training Schengen visa.. I guess the names are just bluffing. they are all the same visa, the difference is whats written in the database about that person..

Training is what you check on the application form
But it's a Schengen visa in the sense that it's based on the Schengen regulations, with the same fee, requirements, visa sticker, etc.
Whereas work visas differ between countries

7:23 PM
@Relaxed the problem originates from the embassy websites, they do categorize them as if they were different.. I am sure they are doing this for a reason..

4 hours later…
11:44 PM
@Relaxed that's a typo. Dammed autocorrect!
Thanks for noticing.
