Q: Preventing heat rash around ankles and shins?

hippietrailI'm currently hitchhikig in Southeast Asia where it's of course always hot. I'm getting a rash around my ankles that I've had in the past but never looked into. In Australia I guess we would call something like this "heat rash", though I was never prone to such things when I was younger so I'm n...

@GayotFow Looks to have missed a trick if truly sinister, though I suppose the idea might have been to get any punter showing interest to publish their means of contact thus keeping a con-artist relatively anonymous.

Q: Where can I try Chitty cuisine in Malacca?

hippietrailI've just learned of a local people here in Malacca (Melaka), Malaysia called the Chitties (Chetty in Malay). They're also referred to as "Indian Peranakans". They are descendants of Tamil men and local women who intermarried hundreds of years ago. There is a Chitty neighbourhood and I passed it...

@MeNoTalk How is it going?

@hippietrail hippietrail, your edit removed how long she's staying in Copenhagen LOL :)

6:15 PM
@JoErNanO yo, whats up..
doing ok here

6:37 PM
where does this desire to program come from?

@JoErNanO u asking me?

yes

I got my first computer when I was a kid, 1998.. a gift from my father...
sorry
1989
not 1998!
and since then I am amazed by computers..
so I start learning basic since 1990 or something.. just for fun.. and been on and off since

so you should be a god by now
25 years of experience and all
:D

no
on and off..
never took it seriously..
at max I am nothing but a super user.
its not what I do for living..

6:40 PM
at max

i mean, this is the maximum i can be... a super user.. not a programmer..

so what pushed you to go in the airline business? should have kept on programming, no?
:)

no idea
i just like airlines business..
i joined as a flight attendant.. and that's the best job in the world..

is it really?

travelling, meeting people, learning new stuff... and a lot of benefits..
even if a programmer makes 2 times more the money, but 10 times less the fun..

6:45 PM
how about stress? being tired? always being on the road? dealing with scumbag passengers?

how about 15 days off a month..

:D
so why and when did you change?

change what?

job description
are you still a flight attendant?

no
inspector
cabin crew inspector
same thing almost.. is till fly.. just no service..

6:52 PM
So let me get this straight: you get all the perks of being a flight attendant, without having to deal with passengers?
If so you scored the jackpot, man. :D

:D
yes
not really.. i do not fly too much, i do not get to have to the bonus.. which is a GOOD bonus..
around $24k a year.. that's a good bonus..

Not bad.

not bad when i was young and had no family.. yes

That's the point I was trying to get to.

@JoErNanO your profile says "neuroscientist "
that's something..
computational neuroscientist
what exactly is that?

7:06 PM
There's no such thing as the best job. There's such thing as the job that suits me the most as of now.
:D Neuroscientists study brain functions from a biological standpoint. People like me try to create realistic mathematical models of those functions

i assume then you had basic medical course?
anatomy and the like?

"functions" means everything: single neuron properties, sensory encoding/decoding, memory, behavioural stuff.
I'm a computer engineer who ran away from mindless software development
And started taking all the neuro* courses I could find.

nice
the way i see it, the thing you are doing is the future..

how so?

making fully controllable artificial limbs
i guess this is somehow your fields..

7:11 PM
that's actually where I wanted to land

(y)

:D
neural prosthetics are one possible direct application of work in this field
there are many more which just have longer time-to-market
actually they have longer time-to-quit-the-lab
:)

:)
it would be nice to have a keyboard to type just by thinking...
work on that please..

I have more videos, if you want. :D

still watching it
send more

7:16 PM
Courtine's work is amazing. Hands down the type of research the whole world should be funding.
Gotta go, man. We'll catch up later. :)

7:38 PM
