Born in Australian, Australian parents. Grew up in Japan. You could say I am native English speaker, but I only briefly formally studied English at an English school. Turning 40 this year and have been in Japan for 30 years now.
@snailplane, ahh I think I see now. I explained it Japanese as I mixed everything up. Too early in the moring for using the brain at that point in the day. 「みんな」を使うなら「さん」は使えない。「みな」使うのは天皇陛下ぐらいかな。一般の人が使うのは「みんな」
@Flaw, down votes on answers that clearly give the answer plus more information. That or people who don't understand something down vote? Either way 5 answer and 2 have already different ones already received down votes.
@Flaw, not to mention questions getting more up votes than answer. I don't think it is a case disagreeing, if the answer is right it right. The fact is that this is obviously a small tight-knit community and I have seen on other stack forums up voting just b/c some people have high rep. I am not concerned, b/c I think someones post needs clarification I will tell them, hell it is language and there are certainly quite a few different out comes for sure.
IMO you don't really need to pay much attention to upvotes\downvotes. To me actual words mean a lot more, whereas with a silent vote I have no idea what is the reasoning behind it so I don't know how to react to it.
