From this answer: "if you have an Equipment attached to one creature, you can pay its equip cost to attach it to another creature". I think you can equip to any creature you control, even the one that is already equipped (not another creature). Does that sound right?

I also think it would be a good idea to move your comment response into the question, since it is semi-relevant and good information for newbies who want to understand equipment.

@murgatroid99 There are quite a few reasons why you might want to equip repeatedly.

Granted, only a few of those abilities are beneficial

Filter out "an opponent controls" and you get better results
