1 hour later…
7:49 AM
Hi there.

8:00 AM
@wilx Hello
@DavidCarlisle I guess now the website is live we should update some of the content

8:17 AM
@JosephWright yep, if only to check the git push works:-)

Hi all! I have to say you're such a helpful and funny community! I didn't even know there were LaTeX packages like this one! Thank you all so much! =D

9:05 AM
@JBFWP286 Ducks are are favorite playthings. Including the (perhaps) human duck @PauloCereda who's now surely writing his thesis.

1 hour later…
10:21 AM
@egreg ooh thesis. :)

@JosephWright -- the new site looks really nice. (will have to wait until i get home to see if all my existing links to latex-bugs still work ...) congrats.
@PauloCereda -- you are working on it, no?

@barbarabeeton yes. :)

3 hours later…
1:27 PM
@Davi
@DavidCarlisle : I have just send you a mail with a MWE for the \newinsert problem

@Maïeul yes got it thanks, will look later

your'e welcome
and thank for looking on it

2:00 PM
@Maïeul will do a full test later but try sticking this anywhere before the set of allocations that go wrong
\makeatletter

\def\newinsert#1{%
\@tempswafalse

Just hoping I don't get any accepts (or at least not an odd number of them) and can coast to get 330 in units of 10....:-)

@DavidCarlisle bah no palindromes. :)

2:42 PM
@DavidCarlisle I'm sure @egreg will find a reason to downvote you and thwart your plans.

I'm very proud to proclaim that David P. Carlisle, TeX guru of well deserved fame, has been admitted in the 100K club of TeX.sx. This is a great achievement for David and the whole community.
@AlanMunn ^^ remembering the times. :)

@PauloCereda It's sad to see how much things have deteriorated since then. :)

@AlanMunn LOL

3:04 PM
@PauloCereda ^^^ oh look: a palindrome

@DavidCarlisle ooh

4 hours later…
7:12 PM
.
@JosephWright: the British Library sent my purchased copy. :)

7:44 PM
..

ooh :)

@egreg Hahahaha! That's for sure! xD

@JBFWP286 Quack! :)

8:01 PM
@PauloCereda Hahahahaha!!!! xD I saw some of your work here, like the one with flowers and ducks "for the thesis" xDDDDDD

@JBFWP286 ooh that was an interesting setup for theses. :)

Hahahahaha xDDDD Amazing!
In fact I was afraid of using this stuff first, but now I can't leave it alone xDDDD

Welcome to the club! :)
We are a bunch of wacky people here.

Thanks, and I hope this will be a "good addiction" xDDDD

It depends, actually. Do you have a thesis to write? :)
@DavidCarlisle ^^

8:08 PM
@PauloCereda I want to write it there, and I'm preparing for it =P Keeping track of bibliography is awesome in there, and now TikZ is useful for that mandatory designing xDD

@JBFWP286 Cool. :) What do you study?

Computer Science :) I guess LaTeX is useful for that (especially minted) xD

@JBFWP286 TeX and friends are useful for virtually everything, even cricket. :)

Hahahaha!!! xD Yeah, if only LaTeX could add sound to PDFs xDDDDD
Are you in that field, too?

@JBFWP286 Yes, I am a CS bloke working with theory.

8:12 PM
:O XD I knew it! XDDDDD I had that feeling xDDDD
Are you studying algorithms?

@PauloCereda @JBFWP286 This why many of us call him a theoretical computer scientist.

@JBFWP286 Complexity and some oddities. :)
@AlanMunn <3

@PauloCereda Ooooohhhhh! That's nice! I like that field!

@PauloCereda And all the ambiguity that phrase entails... :)

@JBFWP286: Alan is our resident linguist. He has super powers. :)

8:15 PM
@AlanMunn But in my country it's strange... CS is divided into many majors xDDDD

@AlanMunn I see what you did there. :)

@PauloCereda <3

@AlanMunn <3
(Wait for @DavidCarlisle to appear out of nowhere and spoil the fun)

@PauloCereda @AlanMunn xDDDDD Good to see something else than CS!

@JBFWP286 Where are you from?

8:16 PM
@PauloCereda 'ello

@PauloCereda Top Secret
XDDDD
@DavidCarlisle They called you, I didn't xDDDDD

@DavidCarlisle 'ello! :)
@JBFWP286 David is part of the LaTeX project. Half of the LaTeX kernel is his. :)
And of course, his packages have no bugs.

@PauloCereda Yeah, I even used a package or two from him xDDDD

@PauloCereda including \newinsert

@DavidCarlisle ooh

8:18 PM
Or undocumented features xDDDDDDDD
tabularx xDDDD

@DavidCarlisle: ^^ this bloke is learning

@PauloCereda ask @Maïeul about that....

@DavidCarlisle :)

Hahahaha xDDDD
@DavidCarlisle @PauloCereda told me that you spoil the fun XD Is that true? XDDDD

@JBFWP286 would you trust a duck carrying a cricket bat to tell the truth?

8:19 PM
XDDDDDD
You guys are awesome XDDDDD

@JBFWP286 @DavidCarlisle makes the fun. There's so much fun to be had in undocumented features.

@AlanMunn Yeah, especially when you need them xD

@JBFWP286 wanna hear a duck joke?

@JBFWP286 Another Bielefelder?

@egreg He was in that car!

8:24 PM
@egreg Let's see what happens XDDD

@PauloCereda Maybe!

@PauloCereda I'm not good at that, let's see xDDD

@JBFWP286 What does the quantum duck say?

@PauloCereda Rats... I don't know! :(

@PauloCereda Quark?

8:25 PM
@AlanMunn oooh that's correct. :)

May 19 at 12:20, by egreg
@PauloCereda Quark!

@DavidCarlisle oh no!
/quacks in despair in leaves

XDDDDDDD
But that's the same! XDDDDDD

@JBFWP286 It's a quantum phenomenon. :)

Yeah, to look for the ? and not for the ! xDDD

8:27 PM
Ducks are very good at quantum physics.

Yeah, noted xD

Jan 12 at 12:15, by David Carlisle
@PauloCereda finished your thesis?

@DavidCarlisle Oh no!

XDDDDD

@DavidCarlisle See above. It's theoretical computer science. :)

8:28 PM
Isn't this time of the year supposed to be holidays? xDDDDD

@JBFWP286 No rest for the wicked.

Poor @PauloCereda :( That's not fair.

@JBFWP286 For a starving student? I don't know what a holiday means.

@PauloCereda Welcome to the club, I guess :(

@JBFWP286 ;)

8:30 PM
@JBFWP286 it's summer holiday time for some of us but @PauloCereda is wrong side of the equator so he has to work on his thesis

@DavidCarlisle It could only be Australia or South America (and part of Africa)

@JBFWP286 cricket should give you a clue...

@PauloCereda But a duck needs to rest, at least! xD

Can I get an upvote on this so that I can link to it as a duplicate? tex.stackexchange.com/q/226184/2693

@DavidCarlisle But isn't that top secret? xD
@AlanMunn Where? On your answer? I guess I won't be able to do so :(
@AlanMunn I mean, to vote for duplicate

8:32 PM
@AlanMunn obviously I'm a good judge of the accuracy of a mac texshop answer, never having used either, so I voted

@AlanMunn Certainly. :)

@JBFWP286 Thanks. I just needed a vote on my answer.

@AlanMunn Aaaaahhhh xDDD Then I'm going to xDDDD
@AlanMunn You're lucky you got a Mac! (Well, that's what I think) xD

@DavidCarlisle That's the spirit of cooperative knowledge we appreciate around here.

That's the different thing here from other sites of the network. That's what is TeX.sx different for :)

8:36 PM
@JBFWP286 I have a few. And yes, some of us here think they are great. Others are die hard Linux people and there are even a few Windoze users around. Some are apparently quite skilled in fact.

@AlanMunn I have Linux, but I don't think Mac is bad. It's just... overpriced for my struggling economy :(

@JBFWP286 A fair point. The initial cost is certainly higher. But in my experience you can hang on to a Mac a lot longer.

@AlanMunn Yes, the interface is well conceived! Let's then wait till I'm rich XDDD

8:49 PM
@JBFWP286 Apple products are really overpriced in Brazil as well.

@PauloCereda :( Now I don't feel well. I thought the country was top secret xDDDD

@JBFWP286 Oh no, another Brazilian?

Not really. You should visit Mexico xD

@JBFWP286 Which certainly is an interesting country to visit!

@JBFWP286 Oh cool. :) I have a friend who lives in León. :)

8:53 PM
@egreg Thanks! Yeah it's nice, we have a lot of history that we don't read at all xDDDD
@PauloCereda Oooohhh xD Every place here is interesting ;)
@PauloCereda I also heard about Brazil. Some guys here say the people is charming there :)

@JBFWP286 The town where I live is about 2500 years old, maybe more. ;-)

@JBFWP286 ^^

@PauloCereda They say, I don't know xDDDDD

@JBFWP286 It's a lie, probably. :)

@PauloCereda That's why I'm telling you xDDDD
It's like how others see us: in the 1910s, like this...
And that's not true xDDDDD

8:57 PM
@JBFWP286 I've only been to Mexico City and Teotihuacan. I really liked it there.

@egreg some of its inhabitants are a similar age

@AlanMunn If you liked that, you should go to other places here as well! :)

@DavidCarlisle Of course I remember when we were building it.

@egreg @DavidCarlisle xDDDDDDDD

@JBFWP286 You see? He's always mean to me.

8:59 PM
@egreg I don't think so. Here we have a presenter of child programs, and I can tell that's only a bit of what we say about him xDDDD

@egreg you reap what you sow

Soy un pato.

Muy bien xDDDD

Voy hacer un dibujo de patos.
Los patos son más grandes que las ranas.

@PauloCereda Good one! Don't tell me you know Spanish! xDDDD

9:01 PM
ooh advanced Spanish. :)
@JBFWP286 I have absolutely no idea. :) I only know a couple of things by accident. :)

Yay! xD (I just hope you're not using a translator)
xDDDDDDD

@JBFWP286 No, that would be @DavidCarlisle. :)

@PauloCereda Qué has dicho "foto" que es mi especialidad

.-. Just understood the first part @DavidCarlisle xD

@DavidCarlisle Holy guacamole!

9:02 PM
@PauloCereda This is I'm sure quite untrue.

XDDDDDDD
I'll be right back! ;)

@AlanMunn Don't you Buenos Aires me. :)

@JBFWP286 Tengo una fuente perfecta para la traducción al español, no puede haber ningún error

@DavidCarlisle ooh that one was very good.

@PauloCereda claro

9:06 PM
@PauloCereda I know better than to tango with a duck.

@AlanMunn ooh :)
@Alan: My Portuñol is pretty good. :)
Hi @JimHefferon!

@PauloCereda Hi!

@PauloCereda Exato!

Ooh, all the randomly-coloured squares

@JosephWright and ducks

9:12 PM
@DavidCarlisle Well yes, plus some beardy guy and an eye-thing

@JosephWright guess i'd better put together a PL 3 :(

@DavidCarlisle Yup
@DavidCarlisle Allocation routines are tricky (though they get a lot easier if you don't have to support all of the current plain/2e assumptions)

@JosephWright helps if you can tell the difference between < and <= as well.

@DavidCarlisle :-)

9:30 PM
@norbert Hi I've really been enjoying your TUG conference posts. The talk descriptions are really informative. I hope you're enjoying Toronto (my hometown).

@AlanMunn -- i'm sure that norbert has been. (so have we.) toronto is really large -- in all directions. but it has a charming little "in-city" airport and connecting ferry. now, off to the banquet/harbor cruise.

9:45 PM
@barbarabeeton Yes, I've flown into that airport a few times. Have a nice dinner!

@barbarabeeton And remember to remove your comment to my answer! Have a good night!

@AlanMunn thanks, I realized the reports are written in a hurry and full of stupid errors, need to read in peace later. I'm enjoying Toronto a lot, but don't have enough time for sightseeing due to Pavneet's Gulag work program ;-)

@norbert :) Well even with the hurry I find them really enjoyable. And I can see the schedule does seem a bit grueling.
@JosephWright Currently in a continuous battle with Word. I used to think that using Styles makes things easier, but they don't really work as they should. Grumble, grumble. *#$%ing Word.
