@DavidCarlisle Cool
@DavidCarlisle DANTE hasn't picked up changes to website yet :-(

@JosephWright so I saw

11:15 AM
@DavidCarlisle -- on friday, frank was on the expedition to georgian bay, and out of wifi range. (it was a nice trip. ask frank about swimming in georgian bay. we also got a fine introduction to the mcmichael museum of canadian art -- recommended destination, but i think not easy to get to without one's own transportation.) i believe frank is flying back to germany today.
@StefanKottwitz -- hi. are you back home yet?

11:26 AM
@barbarabeeton Hi! I'm on my way, in Munich currently

@StefanKottwitz -- was nice to see you again. enjoyable talks too.

@barbarabeeton Hopefully not too chaotic :-o was not much technical about background, I also think I could have shown "live" working things
slides were just safer, not so easily to mess up with :-)

11:51 AM
I will put the slides online somewhere, just need to reduce picture size and add cc license information

@StefanKottwitz -- you might ask karl to post them on the tug site, linked from the conference program.

@barbarabeeton I hope Karl or somebody will collect slides (or links to slides) to add to the program

@StefanKottwitz -- you could suggest it when asking. i'll try to remember to do so as well.
hallo @PauloCereda

@barbarabeeton Hi Barbara! <3
Back home?

12:08 PM
@PauloCereda Hi duck! Just ignore me.
>:-)

@PauloCereda -- still in toronto for a couple of days. hope to visit some museums that pavneet didn't have on the already busy schedule. we're not so far from home though, the plane ride is only an hour and a half (to boston), plus about that much time to home once we're back on the ground. (more traffic on the ground than in the air.)

@StefanKottwitz oh hi, sorry! I was poked. :)

poke harder

@StefanKottwitz quaaaaaaaaaaaack
@Stefan: back home too, I suppose. :)
The blokes at the Luftethingy company are very efficient. :)

@PauloCereda Nearly! In Munich, waiting for the connecting flight

12:10 PM
@StefanKottwitz ooh

@PauloCereda Yes, very efficient. The plane from Toronto was fully booked.
Luckily nobody kicked me out.

@StefanKottwitz Cool! But for me, it's the most expensive company for flights. :(

@PauloCereda That's why I work there rather than at a cheap airline ;-)
@PauloCereda Expensive but very solid and reliable.
@PauloCereda Seems, a cheaper German competitor has to give up and will be taken over by LH, partially.
New flight options for me :-)

@StefanKottwitz No question, surely. :) But it's far from my savings. :(

@PauloCereda I go to the gate, see you later!

12:17 PM
@StefanKottwitz Have a safe return back home. :)

12:44 PM
@PauloCereda -- seems to have been settled, but maybe you want to look at your documentation: tex.stackexchange.com/q/313616/579

12:57 PM
@barbarabeeton Oh thanks, I will see what I can do.

1:13 PM
Howdy all
I have a latex question if ya'll don't mind.

@Roger Cricket would be preferred, but we can also talk TeX. ;-)

@egreg And ducks. :)

@Roger Fire away

1 hour later…

@AlanMunn asked me to convert a comment into an answer

@Marijn Upvote supplied

why is the 1-line-answers-are-better-as-comments-policy on TeX.SE so different from other SE sites?

@Marijn There's always been a feeling we first establish such things are answers, then post them if they are

Q: Why do people answer in comments?

fbmdBrowsing TeX.SE, I have noticed that very frequently people provide answers to a question in the question's comments. See for example BibTeX error "inputenc Error: Unicode char \u8: not set up for use with LaTeX" Is there any package for LaTeX dealing with a database? How to correctly set up ...

in the meta-question @barbarabeeton says it is because people here don't hunt reputation and are more polite
however when I answer in comments I do it because other people do it too, not because I'm avoiding being rude or getting reputation :)

3:08 PM
I got a badge for it :) thanks @AlanMunn

@Marijn Thanks for adding the answer!
@Marijn There's nothing wrong with wanting to gain reputation; we just pride ourselves generally as not caring much about it and caring more about the quality of the answers on the site as a whole.

Oho, 100k. Congratulations @cfr!

4:31 PM
I'll be really sad if anyone accepts any of my answers at this point:-)

4:45 PM
@DavidCarlisle Just make sure @egreg has one as well. :P

@DavidCarlisle This really is the best reputation ever.

@AlanMunn and unlike @egreg's it is all deserved:-)

5:46 PM
@DavidCarlisle oooh
I am deeply sorry, but I still don't follow. The config file you posted in your answer is not a valid YAML file. If arara were supposed to read this file, it would certainly raise an error. The tool won't search directories other than $HOME for a config file, and it works without it, unless you have a malformed one. The default rule path is automatically detected by the application. So either we have a misunderstanding, or you just found the most obscure bug ever. If the latter, please help me fill an issue here. — Paulo Cereda 24 secs ago
You are the developer, you know your tool, but I assure it works the way I am telling you
Ouch.

@Trefex you should never believe @PauloCereda (unless he is reporting cricket scores)

@DavidCarlisle LOL
@DavidCarlisle: by the way, breaking news: I worked a little on my thesis today!

Jan 12 at 12:15, by David Carlisle
@PauloCereda finished your thesis?

5:52 PM
@DavidCarlisle Not yet. :)

6:05 PM
@PauloCereda I've just paid a visit to “il Santo”

@egreg oooh
@egreg: I wish to visit Padova some day. <3

@PauloCereda I hope you can come soon!

6:32 PM
@egreg <3
@egreg: any chance for GuIT to host a TUG conference?

@PauloCereda Might be

@egreg fingers crossed. :)

@PauloCereda We could go as a travel group on a cruise ship that provides conference rooms, that's not uncommon.

@StefanKottwitz ooh and being a duck, I might get a discount. :)

see: Next digital nomads cruise simply join them, or make the same for us :-)
14 days work and party € 480 shared or € 520 single :-o

Hi all

@Danu Hello

I've got a tiny question: What is the font style/shape in which "Mathematica" is written in this document?

@Danu Looks like \textsc to me

Awesome, thanks.
(it is indeed)
