Q: Going beyond the 5 known senses?

user3550In the Jewish religion, there are some who practice something called kabbalah, I don't mean the celebrity stuff, but the real kabbalah. Here's a quick overview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Np3nefIMCTQ Basically, they say that we are a closed box with 5 known senses, and we have to rely on ou...

السلام عليكم

@Suhaib و عليكم سلام

lol, Can I ask a legit question ?
@AlUmmatمجاهد Do you know who has proposed to create Islam.SE ?

@Suhaib طبعا of course
@Suhaib no i do not
the user account has been deleted

yea :-(

I have asked the same question, and been told that it doesn't really matter who proposed this site
but Insha'Allah they get the reward

8:37 PM
lol iA. The thing is all the answers can be found in Islamic websites. Why do we need another one ?

@Suhaib so that people can come here and know the information is Good, and one doesn't have to check the authenticity of a website or it's reliability, also we want to create an online repository of high quality information about Islam, a lot of places online you can fid lots of false information. Another reason is, if someone types a question into search, usually answers/questions from SE sites (including IslamSE) are the first results

nice.... I didn't think of it like that.
But then how come no one uses the upvote feature ? It's like i am the only one who is upvoting here

@Suhaib because you know StackExchange, it's features and how they work
many people here are new to this place
and they bring in with them forum mentality
trust me, I had it

@AlUmmatمجاهد what about the mods ?

it took me a few months to figure out all the features, especially when my rep kept changing, but when I figured it out, I become a moderator and now must figure out the moderator features
@Suhaib in beta, they are picked by stackexchange employees, but after graduation, the community itself shall pick it's own moderators through an election process

8:52 PM
@AlUmmatمجاهد sorry for confusing you, I meant to ask, What about the mods ? Are they allowed to upvote answer ? because It seems they don't do that alot

@Suhaib of course, up-voting is very important for reasons, one is that it helps distribute reputation to users who when they accumulate can do certain things which helps the whole community.
Moderators can up-vote and down-vote, the things that a moderator should not really vote on, because it isn't really a vote for them, is to (vote) to delete,
or close, these things for moderators are binding meaning if a moderator clicks the close button on a question for example, that question will be closed automatically, were for a non-Moderator, it would need five community members.
Moderators are to intervene where necessary, not every single time, we would like the community members to do something called "self-moderation" or "community Moderation" this is where the community itself can moderate itself good enough so that moderators only have to intervene on serious occasions.
Read this, Insha'Allah it can be beneficial for you meta.islam.stackexchange.com/questions/650/…
oh and sorry for the late reply, I was typing in the message, but had to split it up because it was too long

9:19 PM
@Suhaib if you have any more questions I will be happy to answer them :)
hello @El'endiaStarman hello, how are you doing?

10:24 PM
@Suhaib Moderators can upvote and downvote like any other user; whether they do or not is entirely up to them (all voting is anonymous, so we have no way of knowing who does, or does not, cast individual votes)
you can see how many total votes any user has cast by checking their profile page.

10:42 PM
@goldPseudo I believe only moderators and the user themselves can see the votes

i don't believe moderators can at all, only self.
at best, we can see aggregate information, not individual votes.
just like any user can see aggregates on the profile (total questions voted, total answers voted, total upvotes, total downvotes)
