Q: Terraria: Is there a way to directly create another .plr file for a character?

I have an endgame character with a lot of gear and I'd absolutely hate losing it. So I thought of making a backup by copying the .plr file.... except it's not there. There is only the .plr.bak file. I've unlocked Mai as an opponent through the gate (I am at stage 10) but her mission to unlock her did now show up like it did for Tea. I've beaten her twice both level 10 and level 20. How do I trigger her event? EDIT: Eh, downvote with no feedback?

Only the ambassadors to unproblematic countries are handed out as rewards, usually. The countries where it actually matters are staffed by experienced diplomats

@GnomeSlice I'm pretty sure when people heard "drain the swamp", they were mainly talking about Washington D.C. And hilariously enough, a lot of the "swamp" in DC is stuff that the president has no control over so go figure.
