In the simplest examples the simulation ran at 100 fps, but you've gotta add actual graphics, AI, etc. on top of that

No idea how optimized the sound/graphics engine are at that point, but average 18ms frametime with effectively no graphics is concerning. Was a few years ago though

I think the effect of clipping slightly behind a corner of the sound source is quite exaggerated and sudden in that demo, but otherwise it seems pretty cool.

Yeah, 75fps is the gold standard for the devkit 2

Also, on their website (which hasn't been updated in 2 years unfortunately) it says the performance has been increased 2-4 times (on the same CPU)

Not THAT much faster, been a slow few years for non-power usage and multicore related processor improvements

@BenBrocka I'd be willing to pay for that if I can't find it here. Ghost is completely out of the question here, they're nowhere to be found. Only 3 retailers here got LE preorders, one's web only and is sold out. Our Gamestop equivalent's the other and they're sold out. The other is a toy store that also sells videogames so I'm now going go try calling 12+ brick and mortars on the off chance that one in a smaller city may have it. :(

@Rapitor If you want non-fast Sonic with combat the newly released Freedom Planet has been fun until the end of stage 5.

I haven't played after that, but I'm managing to find myself rapidly running out of lives.

It seemed decently fast in speedrun. Maybe a bit slower than Genesis sonic, which is about the proper amount of fasts for playability

So I have a new PC. I downloaded the Steam app. Some days ago I just got a game(Ace of Spades) and I wanna use it on this PC. When I click play now on it's Steam page it doesn't start the download, but it starts a window named: Steam - Update News. This window is almost empty it only has the copy...

Assuming it's Sonic design, higher level parts are supposed to be your reward for speed, not really something you "have" to get to

@BenBrocka I don't think speed translates into vertical travel

Most levels have ceilings

There's always a top, but usually in Sonic there are certain jumps or stuff you need to be smart or fast to make and otherwise you continue on a lower level

though there's some like (I think) hilltop zone with basically the one path

The dragon (the default travel) has not-as-significant diagonal travel

@BenBrocka ...I think I just got ahold of a copy but I'm not sure. It was the 8th store I called (after one store said that if I don't see it on the website then I shouldn't be able to get it in stores). He said he was able to reserve it in the system, which he shouldn't be able to if they're sold out, but that he can't guarantee it'll be in until a few days before release when they let him know how many copies the store will be getting. I don't know what to do.

I tried to install it but it won't work and the only options I have left is to either buy a new disc or buy it on xbox live. Tip: for more dastardly engineers, sometimes the best place to be is on the opposite end of their teleporter. Go to the enemy spawn doors; if the engie isn't there, sap the teleporter and shoot the entrance so he has to get there to rebuild. When he comes back, take the teleporter as soon as it's done building and sap everything.

Hopefully you can telefrag, or stab, enemies wandering around there, but if the tp only just came up, there's probably no one.
