3:01 PM
@RedRiderX Pushcat finished dead last in terms of IGS sales so far.

@GnomeSlice I heard, that's kind of sad.
And what's even more sad is that I think Scoregasm has already passed it.

Pretty close, but not yet

@fbueckert if you look at the reputation 'per post' rather than time, there's 3 seperate reversal listings - last night's +16, a +8, and a +16/-35

Scoregasm isn't terribly original. It's okay I guess, but... I dunno, I'm annoyed.
@RedRiderX Oh, yep, Scoregasm passed it

@GnomeSlice Scoregasm annoys me.

3:03 PM
@RedRiderX The sound effects are awful.
The gameplay is pretty standard arena shooter stuff.
Something like Waves would have been better I think

@TrentHawkins That's...strange.

@GnomeSlice The whole idea of the game is awful.

@RedRiderX You mean the sex noises stuff? Because the actual gameplay is okay, and the progression thing is a neat idea, but really overcomplicated

@GnomeSlice Isn't that main selling point and branding of the game?

@RedRiderX Yeah, I dunno. I always thought it was more like a horrible horrible afterthought.
But I guess probably
I was never really a fan of scoregasm.

3:10 PM
This conversation calls to mind similar discussions from a long time ago about this game.

@GraceNote Oh, by the way, if you were interested in Cherry Tree High, someone gifted it to me. I can take a look at it and tell you what I think if you like.
er
Why do I always get that name wrong

Well, since y'have it, y'might as well try it out, neh?

Yeah. I have lots of games. Was planning on playing it eventually but I'll check it out sooner rather than later.

I bought a couple games in that doujin bundle but not that one

@GnomeSlice This game is pretty fun if you like dual stick shooters with nothing but core gameplay. I got bored kind of fast but it's the best of the genre that I've seen.

3:16 PM
@StrixVaria You must not have played very many, to be honest.

@GnomeSlice I haven't.

Heh.

Because I get bored fast and don't spend money on them.

@GraceNote :)

@StrixVaria Oh you were talking about Waves

3:17 PM
@GnomeSlice Yes.

Yeah Waves is pretty dope. I thought you were talking about Scoregasm.
Yeah, it's a really solid game.

I also tried out one that came in the same humble bundle as super hexagon.
I don't remember what it was called, but it sucked.

@StrixVaria Uh?
Was it beat hazard?

Let me try to find it.

Because that game is awful.

3:18 PM
@GnomeSlice Yes!

Beat Hazard is horrible

You saved me like 10 seconds of searching.
It was so bad.

It's the only game I've ever played where the visual flashing made it hard for me to play, for starters.
The graphics were ugly too.
Why it's so popular is unfathomable to me.

Beat Hazzard isn't really the same as other dual stick shooters. It's an interesting idea but the lack of interesting enemies and stuff to do really makes it pretty meh

@StrixVaria This is the gold standard as far as I'm concerned, even though I only own the DS one.

3:19 PM
@BenBrocka what version of beat hazard are you thinking about?

@badp They're all terrible.

PixelJunk Shooter is one of the more unique Dual Stick Shooters I've played, but it's more exploration and finding stuff than the standard waves of enemies stuff

Beat Hazard Ultra has much better variety and the Android version has autoaiming which makes the game imho much better

This actually looks kinda cool.

Geometry Wars really kicked off the neon arena shooty thing

3:20 PM
Geometry wars is fun but I'm not sure I'd call it the best

Yay, my Pi is now working as a Google Play client

quick, install angry birds!

I just need to work out how to make it play albums/playlists and not just track by track...

@BenBrocka It's a good benchmark though, neh?
@BenBrocka Have you played any of the radiangames games?
Like Inferno/Inferno+?

@GnomeSlice It's good, I just wish people would'nt treat it like it's literally the only game in the genre aside from Robotron

3:21 PM
@fredley vERY COOL

@BenBrocka Heh. Well it's the one everyone knows.

@SaintWacko It is. I think I can make it work to play albums, I have a theory I just need to test it

@GnomeSlice In the ultra version you can change the intensity of the graphics.

@GnomeSlice Yeah, but to me it's like hearing people talk about Call of Duty

@Ullallulloo That won't make it a good game
@BenBrocka Yeah, I know what you mean.

3:22 PM
@fredley I am auto-deleting everything you email me so don't send me something important.

@BenBrocka It's a bit out of season at the moment, but I recommend. youtube.com/watch?v=QRJYFbJDkqs

@Ullallulloo you could do that in the base version too (though it didn't make a huge difference)

Also that game is free

Beat Hazard was neat to mess with for 10 minutes but I didn't see much replay value in it

All this talk of dual-stick shooters is making me want to play Jamestown again (even though that's not a dual-stick shooter at all).

3:23 PM

@OrigamiRobot No problem. I have other email addresses if I need to anyway

dual stick shooter with light dungeon crawling elements
light

I have Jamestown and never really tried it

@BenBrocka Do you like shmups at all?

Jamestown is very nice

3:24 PM
I highly recommend Jamestown.

it's no bullet hell game

I have a lot of dual stick shooters on iOS

@SaintWacko In theory I can pass internal URLs to mpd which return a 302 to the correct track url. Since each streaming url is only valid for a minute I can't pregenerate them

but it looks gorgeous

You can get through it quick on the normal difficulty, but it can really challenge you on the higher difficulties too.

3:24 PM

And yeah it looks really great.

@fredley Oh, wow, that's annoying

you can't finish the game in normal difficulty anyway

@StrixVaria I love shmups and bullet hells

@StrixVaria I second this. It's a lot of fun.

3:25 PM
@badp Yeah, I wasn't sure if I remembered that right.

I wish it had online.
@OrigamiRobot @fbueckert Will you guys be around for some hunting this weekend?

@BenBrocka Definitely give it a try then.

@GnomeSlice I need proper sticks for those, really. Though I have a geometry wars clone (with some minor tweaks) that works alright

@Wipqozn Uhh. SOME of it, yes.

@SaintWacko Yeah. I don't want to be polling mpd, or doing it manually from the client, so if this works it'll be ideal

3:26 PM
@BenBrocka Have you played Solomon's Keep or Solomon's Boneyard?

@Wipqozn Yes, I might be around tonight too.

Because if not I highly recommend both of them.
Excellent games, both.

I don't even know how I find these things sometimes...

Solomon's Keep has an RPG style progression, Boneyard is a straight up arena shooter with levelling and skills.

@StrixVaria I took a peek and it looked good but didn't play it. I also have some bullet hells on Steam and I kept playing those instead

3:29 PM

@BenBrocka @StrixVaria You guys might be interested in:

Don't have an xberks

@StrixVaria That can't be real.

And it's pretty cheap.

3:31 PM
@Ullallulloo I don't think it is, but I want it to be.

@BenBrocka You're familiar with RadianGames right?

@StrixVaria Ah the Aperture Science Beverage Testing Division

@BenBrocka I wonder if Oakman is still around

Also Infinity Danger has a demo

@GnomeSlice Not particularly

3:33 PM
@BenBrocka Egads

@StrixVaria Gyroscopes are a thing. It's possible.

Visit and be amazed

@OrigamiRobot background is definitely greenscreened but the holder thing is possible

@LessPop_MoreFizz What.

3:38 PM
Florida.

@LessPop_MoreFizz Is that supposed to answer my question

Beach towels.
Coincidence?

is this @OrigamiRobot?

@Blem ORIGAMIROBOT IS A FELON: DATA ACCEPTED

@SaintWacko YEEEEEAH
@SaintWacko It works!

@fredley Awesome!

3:42 PM
load up mpc playlist with http://0.0.0.0/get_stream/356, etc...
Those urls 302 get the Gplay url via the api and 302 to it
Fucking epic
I HEART PI

@Gnomeslice yes. Yes it is.

@fredley pssst. Chromecast :P

@badp SHHHHH NOBODY WANTS TO LISTEN TO YOU

Look at the rest of the Florida Man twitter account if you don't believe me. Note the frequency of tweets.

@OrigamiRobot I probably can't hunt tonight, but WE SHALL SEE.

3:47 PM
@LessPop_MoreFizz Oh god, the one after that combines Florida and Jersey.
> ...Rock allegedly pulled a knife and yelled, "I'm from Jersey, I'll kill your ass." ...He then began saying he didn't do anything wrong, the people who were complaining on him were just haters because he had a way with the ladies and they should be arrested, not him. Then he stated he would use the Zimmerman defense because he was streetwise and he knew how to work the system.

4:00 PM
Heh, this is one of the more interesting editorial substitutions I've seen...
> Told he'd be arrested if he didn't leave, Dimig said, "(Coitus) you arrest me then."

What the coitus is that excrement?
2

@TimStone Ahahahahahahahahahaha

That's gotta be automated.

Oh joy, it's another day of "Did YouTube change for just me or anyone else?"

Hey you guys, you should vote for this game on Steam Greenlight.

4:08 PM
"You should do X" just makes me want to do ¬X...

@FEichinger You should breathe

Also Guacamelee Gold Edition unlocks on Steam in about an hour.

@BenBrocka x.x

CC @BenBrocka @RedRiderX

@GnomeSlice If I get it I'll probably get it on Playstation for cross buy whatever stuff

4:09 PM
@BenBrocka ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?!?! YOU KILLED ME!

@FEichinger Murder always makes me happy

@FEichinger You don't seem nearly as dead
also I have an Important, hell, Critical Question of the Utmost Importance
a matter of Life or Death
where can I find a colander in Munich?

@badp ... You gotta be kidding me.

@FEichinger I don't know if I'll find one where I'll settle!
I REQUIRE MY PASTA
I don't think regular markets sell them, either

4:14 PM
Also, Papers, Please, and Spelunky unlock in one hour as well.

I don't think that links to what you think that links

@GnomeSlice Papers, Please doesn't really seem like a game so much as a boring-ass simulation.

Should I get this laptop? Kinda tempted, though no touchscreen is a bit of a disapointment dealzon.com/deals/… Not that I use my touchscreen much anymore

@badp Obviously you add a general region to it. Such as "Munich" or whatever.

Spelunky looks like Rogue Legacy minus what I liked about Rogue Legacy.

4:15 PM
@StrixVaria boring ass-simulaiton

@BenBrocka Right.

It actually sounds pretty interesting.
> The communist state of Arstotzka has just ended a 6-year war with neighboring Kolechia and reclaimed its rightful half of the border town, Grestin. Your job as immigration inspector is to control the flow of people entering the Arstotzkan side of Grestin from Kolechia.
> Among the throngs of immigrants and visitors looking for work are hidden smugglers, spies, and terrorists. Using only the documents provided by travelers and the Ministry of Admission's primitive inspect, search, and fingerprint systems you must decide who can enter Arstotzka and who will be turned away or arrested.

I know nothing about it but the concept. And the fact that I have too much to do right now anyway
The concept does sound interesting though. Just not sure it'd be fun to play

@GnomeSlice I've seen gameplay videos.

4:16 PM
Seems like one of those things where it being fun is sort of the opposite of the point

I'm interested to know how it works, from a game design perspective.

@GnomeSlice Try the demo.

I'm not interested in playing it.

@StrixVaria it's actually not too bad. I mean, it's a slightly abstract version of the oh-so-popular "Should We Close This Question" game

@FEichinger Sweet, I didn't realize it had one. I have too much to play already, but I'll give it a look if I remember.

4:17 PM
@badp There's one in pretty much every neighbourhood, hence why.

So you just mash the close button?

@GnomeSlice I'm actually surprised you out of all people haven't heard about it yet.

@FEichinger oh, it went in the middle of Canada for me

@FEichinger Oh I've heard about the game.

@BenBrocka the trailer has you reject all the things

4:18 PM
@FEichinger Speaking of demos, I recommend you try this one

Do you get to ruin people's lives?

@BenBrocka of course.
There's a "detain" unlock late in the demo

@GnomeSlice I'll look into it. Not really my cup of tea, though.

You can also ruin your family's life if you aren't fast and accurate enough! Bonus points.

@badp Yeh, because I didn't specify a location. That would focus on the one in Leopoldstr., which is probably not the most accessible, depending on where you end up.

4:20 PM
@FEichinger btw what's the name of the local supermarket chains?
I've recognized a few Lidl's because they're here too (although for the very lowest market segment)
(this is the part where @FEichinger sends me to a human meat trading center)

@badp It was tempting, yes.

@FEichinger I'm also not interested in organ "donations"

@badp That said, that also largely depends on where you end up ... We've got Aldi, Lidl, Penny, Tengelmann, Edeka, Netto, Rewe ... All of which are stronger in different areas, and generally pretty average in quality. And then we've also got a couple of mall-ish things.

@FEichinger Top candidate right now is in the olympic area
but I just needed the list, I can look at the different places again later when (if) I do settle down

@badp Well, then that all gets easier. That's about where I live. :P

4:25 PM
@FEichinger dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun

@FEichinger We have Aldi's in the States too.

4:35 PM
@GnomeSlice this looks strangely familiar... to this:

@Krazer warning forever?
Yep.
They mentioned they were inspired by it, which I think it taking it a little lightly.
It's a very nice game though.
> Fight against an almighty enemy that evolves to exploit your weak points! Inspired on the 2003 computer game “Warning Forever”

We need a Bridge version of Warning Forever. Angry Furious Doomsday Ultimate Righteousness Power of @Grace Note Mk III Extreme (♫ scroll down ♫)

Q: How to install X-Ray texture pack for 1.6.2?

JasonIm trying to download a minecraft x-ray texture pack. I've tried this one: http://www.curse.com/texture-packs/minecraft/x-ray-craft/ but it doesn't work, becuse it's for 1.5.2. Please help me find and install a texture pack to help with mining.

@Krazer Milkstone makes great 'ripoff' games. I hesitate to use that word because most of them time it's not like they're just shoving out a shitty clone to cash in, they tend to put a lot of effort into their games. Their Binding of Isaac clone was pretty shameless though.
And they do have some cool original titles.
For example:

@GnomeSlice It is somewhat unfortunate that all three of those games released on the same day.

4:41 PM
@GnomeSlice lol boomerang footballs

@RedRiderX Why?
@Krazer It's crazy, but it's actually a lot of fun.
That's their take on the classic distance driving game. I can't think of any names though right now.
I missed that era of gaming slightly

@badp A HUGE BATTLESHIP "PRO MUCH" IS APPROACHING FAST

@GnomeSlice I'd can't help but feel that there will be some degree of release day sales that they loose to each other.

4:44 PM
@RedRiderX That may be true I suppose.
All excellent games though, I'm sure.
So at least they have that going for them.
That game looks nuts, hah
I think I might add this one to my list of downloadable multiplayer stuff for Xbox 360 too
Milkstone is pretty awesome

@GnomeSlice Totally, but you linked all three to me, and I'd imagine that they'd be in a similar price bracket, so there is definitely competition as to which one to pick up right now.

@GnomeSlice surprise it's not called "flame-buoyant"

But really, no competition, Spelunky all the way. :P

@Krazer Heh, that would have worked too.

user image
4

4:46 PM
@RedRiderX That's what I figured, hah.
Spelunky is more high profile than those.
@badp ?

Warning Forever Bridge Edition
Gnomeslice DLC

@Badp can you superping @Aubergine

why?

I have another game for his list
He's looking for recommendations of cheap local MP games for xbox 360
For his work Xbox

@badp So is that the Indie Game Aura he's using?

4:49 PM
@RedRiderX Yes. It's his bomb

@GnomeSlice I keep thinking of games for that and then realizing they're nintendo games

@SaintWacko For... Xbox 360?

If he's been around in the last day I don't think you need a superping, I think it'll go to inbox

Oh, maybe
My Aquadelic GT configuration for Joy2Key has been downloaded 30 times.
I'm famous.
By the way that game is awesome and you guys should get it

@GnomeSlice If that makes you famous I must be an internationally reknowned superstar by now.

4:55 PM
at any rate, is this just me?

@badp Yes, "this" is just you.

For instance, this plugin I wrote is on 1,456 servers.

@GnomeSlice That looks really bad.

@Wipqozn It's not.

IT looks like a shitty flash game you'd find on newgrounds. Not something you'd pay for.

4:57 PM
@Wipqozn And there's this argument again ...

This one's on 1,830 servers.

If you don't hover on "Guide" there's no sidebar
which is pretty annoying

@SaintWacko Check it out

@FEichinger What argument? That I won't pay for terrible games?

There's just whitespace

4:58 PM
@Wipqozn Given the price ($1 on XBLIG), it has a remarkable amount of replay value.
$4 for the PC version.
Still pretty reasonable.

I made a little app for Rainmeter skin makers to use that's been downloaded 355 times
@fredley Nice. I didn't end up getting a Pi, though
