@Unionhawk it is sort of undermining the law in that companies could choose to opt out of the exchanges and just offer crappier state policies

@badp obamacare was massive, there were typos and such in the original text. The Dems wanted to fix said typos but republicans in congress tried to use those typos to get the whole law tossed out at the supreme court

if anything, not having to show cause made Aetna look worse in court because of the emails that said "we'll drop unless you let the merger go through"

to put more teeth in it (but the insurance industry would never have gone for it) would be to say "you can't sell insurance in the state unless you offer plans on the exchange"

So it wasn't even a bad deal for them, it just wasn't as good of a deal as getting the merger approved

You could read the rulebook in the wrong language. Or read the rulebook for a different system.

And as an interesting aside John Carmack is now suing Zenimax (which bought id and technically sued Oculus) because he didn't get enough money out of a stock thing regarding the sale of id.

As is, though, that ruling in id vs. Oculus is super problematic.
