@GnomeSlice Because if someone is below the age of consent/majority and someone is above it it can have legal implications depending on the country/area/jurisdiction. Also cultural biases.

"Race" is not really a useful biological concept. It's easy for us to divide humans into groups based on visual appearances, but there is little to no biological basis.

I'm not exactly afraid of the age difference, the under 18 part scares the hell outta me though.

@twobugs A brown labrador and a white labrador are both still called labradors, they are not a different race, why would it be different for people?

More like, why is it seen different for people.

@twobugs It's not useful, but we are REALLY EXCELLENT at creating "others" so we use whatever we can to determine the "other"-ness

Many of the "racial" differences can be explained in the context of culture or geographical location - both of which have an enormous effect on a person's development.
