@MellenTheNerd a red rod, a stone, a lower elevator access card, a jammer, a parcel, a ceramic perch, a helmet, a piece of paper, a ring.

@badp I took your matchbook

@Unionhawk See, the reflective foil reflected the fire back at you.
Also I don't know what you're going to do with the full list of baseball matches in the 1958-1959 season, with detailed stats and play-by-play information.
You can keep it though.

@badp that's easy. Go back in time and make bank gambling.

Q: Why is ELL so despot , totalitarian, anti-free speech, anti-democratic

Elvis Jagger Abdul-JabbarI asked a question on feelings and my question was blocked in a few minutes , because it was a bout feelings and they said you are not allowed to speak about feelings here! When I tried to express my opininons why this is wrong , they they said to me " I am so rude and defensive" and when I ...

@LessPop_MoreFizz That would be way too obvious. I'd need to split history in a different timeline per game, do one bet in each dimension, then carry over all the earnings in this one.

@GraceNote You may use my post, naturally.

@KevinvanderVelden lightning has entered the party.

@badp Oh man that post. I almost forgot about that thing.

@Arperum yay!

How bad of an idea would it be to put on swimming wear and go lie in the gras outside?

1:06 PM
It probably wouldn't be a good idea

I mostly just liked the title
The community itself seems to have a strong enough grip on handling the situation itself

@GraceNote Heh, seems like OP is not a long internet user.

Wes Craven is dead.
I'm not a big fan of the horror genre myself, but I've heard his name more than enough times to know that he was pretty big in that arena.

@Yuuki yeah, but he's not un-dead yet, so whatevs.

Only Eclipse can crash while hitting End on a text field

1:15 PM
@spugsley Whoa, that's awesome

I mean, he's not the only science dude, but he's a very intelligent, articulate, and likeable guy. It's not hard to see why he is popular
Plus there's that picture of him in high school where he looks like a football player

I just find it really interesting how the top comments are all ragging on him when (a) the OP isn't really that wrong and (b) seem to suggest that science promotors and educators should shut up and take a backseat to "real science".
The latter thought is exactly why the American education system is so middle-of-the-pack for the "richest and most powerful nation in the world".

1:31 PM
@Yuuki Heh, you don't need much intelligence to pull a trigger :P

I mean, what does "most revered scientist" even mean?

the scientist people love the most

Then by that definition I don't think Stephen Hawking applies
I'm not a physics person but I've heard some pretty mixed opinions about him and his work
er
There we go. Monday moment.

But yeah, I don't see anything wrong with one of the most loved scientists being someone like NGT.
In fact, I think he's a very good person for that role.

1:38 PM
@Rapitor abandon ship

it... has multiplayer

@Rapitor Great way to drain you phone battery

@Yuuki To suggest that Neil deGrasse Tyson and Steven Hawking aren't real scientists is laughable at best. While they're two of the most recognizable cosmologists to the public, they're also two of the most respected within their field to begin with.

@KevinvanderVelden that thunderstorm from <hour ago is moving north (see here for live lightning by lightning progress)

It still has quite a ways to go

1:46 PM
@KevinvanderVelden It goes ~at the speed of a car, so it'll arrive in a bit more than an hour.

Cars can drive at many speeds ...

@5pike Average time to get from here to antwerp is about 45-60 minutes, this storm is taking 45-60 minutes to get from over here to antwerp

Things that annoy me: how often I accidentally type fucntion instead of function.
Occasionally, I don't even type the first n, so it becomes fuction.

Q: What is the grading system? (In The Groove)

DJ Aftershock(I PUT THIS WITH THE TAG 'DANCE-DANCE-REVOLUTION' BECAUSE IT'S THE CLOSEST) In The Groove is a music game, heavily based on Dance Dance Revolution. It has an entirely different scoring system based on percentage which favors your step-by-step accuracy over hitting every step inaccurately. Now on...

@Arperum Belgium is having a nice lightshow

1:49 PM
@Yuuki I blame @GnomeSlice and his fuct vocabulary

@Rapitor Indeed, we even got darkness to have the most possible fun out of it.

2:03 PM
Heh, someone, from a pretty big German download portal (chip.de), posted the twitter logging credentials of the company account.

I used to have at least three years' worth of Chip issues
(I threw them away just this Saturday)

I was young and clueless and thoroughly enjoyed their two-months-old rather accessible tech articles
(one month for publication, one month for translating from German)
I don't even know how Chip is still in business though.

> Disclaimer: I want to create this fun game for people to have fun. I do not support harassment of women, or sexism, or misogyny;
Except, you know, it's a game about killing naked women, or something

@Sterno MAYBE THAT IS WHAT YOU ENJOY

2:07 PM
Yeah, you can't really say you don't support something when you are with your actions supporting that thing

but if you enjoy that thing please do not play
but please enjoy
but please don't play
JEEZ IT'S NOT SO HARD

That's a man I would totally trust with half a million dollars to build a website.

Just half a million? What about the One Million Dollar Homepage?!

@Sterno isn't that the guy from stargate SG1?

It's basically a bargain

2:13 PM
Don't you dare rip on Don S. Davis.
(plus, he's dead)

Q: Plantera Trouble!

TheDestroyerI have beaten all 3 mech bosses but I have no idea when I should fight plantera. I already made a arena so that I can fight her in but I feel like my armor and weapons aren't strong enough. Any tips?

@GodEmperorDune He's somewhat annoying to fight since you need so many different HP restorers just to get to the part where you beat him up.

Hahahahahahahahaha
Apparently a number of T-Mobile customers are using 2TB/month on their unlimited plans

Weee. Reading youtube comments turns bad most of the time. This time I had to laugh. Someone declared some music satanic because it doesn't glorify Jesus.

@Unionhawk ...How?!

So I assume that means all music is satanic. Except the bit where there is some Jesus glorification going on.

2:43 PM
> In order to work around the 7GB cap, users conceal their tethering usage. For example, for T-Mobile, it looks like these users are browsing the web on their phones. But what they are actually doing is using the LTE network to download stuff on their computer.
(after 7GB of tether use per month, that's throttled)

Haha
Also, User returns to Travel.SE! His questions don't have the usual oomph, though

Q: Am I allowed to put on my pyjamas during a long flight?

UserDue to a medical issues I can't sleep well with tight trousers and wearing a belt. Should I expect any problems if I go to the toilet, put my pyjamas on, go to sleep in my seat and then change back after I wake up and before landing.

> Instead of quietly warning these users, T-Mobile is explaining why it is doing so before these users even have the opportunity to write blog posts and complain on the web. It’s a smart move.
CHECKMATE

Is this the same guy who was asking about something that looked like a bomb or whatever?
I can't remmeber the exact details...

@djsmiley2k probably

@djsmiley2k Not "looked like a bomb"
An actual bazooka

2:45 PM
was a bomB?
oh yes that's it XD

@Unionhawk Except I don't care. Unlimited is unlimited. 2TB < unlimited.

Wear joggers...
\o/

And wearing a bulletproof vest because "have you seen the movies i need a bulletproof vest to protect me on the plane"
Also flying into Russia carrying a gold bar
That was a good question

wtf
I missed the gold bar one

@twobugs You never carry a gold bar casually on the plane?

2:48 PM
@Sterno probably a reason they chose indie gogo over Kickstarter for that

Oh yeah, the guy even wanted to fashion the gold bar into a bulletproof vest as I recall

@Unionhawk After saying to users 'here is an unlimited tariff, use what you want, no really, go crazy'
@KevinvanderVelden gold wouldn't stop much...

@KevinvanderVelden Heh, I doubt that would stop (m)any bullets.

Because yeah, gold is known for it's strength and inmalleability
@djsmiley2k sure it will! You just need more gold

rofl

2:49 PM
@KevinvanderVelden Because gold is also known for how light it is.

Of course, starcraft style marine armor made out of gold would probably be a bit heavy
But it might stop a bullet!

@KevinvanderVelden That's why the 40K Space Marines are genetically enhanced monsters.

@JasonBerkan we're talking about making a bulletproof vest out of gold plates, any concerns for practicality went out of the way loooong ago

@KevinvanderVelden Maybe if the hijackers use air-rifles.

Powered gold armor
I wonder how many watch lists that User guy is on after his questions about carrying a bazooka on a plane
I mean, he's clearly trolling, but his questions are amusing

2:51 PM
@Unionhawk ... I'm all for circumventing weird data caps, but who the f--k uses 2TB/month?!

I don't like all the comments he's gotten though

@Yuuki People I guess

Asker's motivations are irrelevant, just answer the thing or don't

@GnomeSlice Do you mean the ones telling him to "seek help" or whatever? Those were definitely warranted
Oh

@5pike it might stop an actual bullet fired from one of these:

2:52 PM
No they were not

Well, one of the Travel.SE rules I guess is "Ask real questions, not hypothetical questions"

@Yuuki 2TB? Hmm I can't say I've ever had that happen

@5pike Actually, it probably would. Yes, gold is very malleable. But it is also very dense. The malleability would probably mean it could absorb shock better.

@GnomeSlice If you think you need a bulletproof vest to fly on an airplane because of "movies", I think they are.

It's not our job to tell people to seek psychiatric help when we think they're doing something wrong

2:53 PM
@Yuuki Heh. Never underestimate people. When I was a student there was a local network where you could download stuff other students had shared (most of it not exactly legal, but whatever) One friend did download a couple TB of stuff from that in a pretty short time.

It'd stop the bullet, but you'd probably have a bigger bruise as a result than a ceramic vest that shatters or breaks when shot.

We're supposed to answer questions

@Arperum oh yeah at LAN? Yeah I've had that happen!

@KevinvanderVelden Huh?

@GnomeSlice Fair enough. I think the argument was his questions do not pertain to general knowledge and are extremely unlikely to be useful to any other human being

2:54 PM
@Yuuki gnomeslice came in between apparently

So?

Meant to reply to the person above

@GnomeSlice Well, if they're not useful to anyone then they're just making a mockery of the QA format, in a way

I couldn't disagree more
Anyway, time to get back to work

@Yuuki Maybe, but I wouldn't take chances.

@Yuuki someone needs to get the mythbusters on this

@KevinvanderVelden It might stop a .22 short.
What goldplate thickness are we even talking about?

Awesome music is awesome cc @djsmiley2k @KevinvanderVelden @AshleyNunn @Yuuki (slightly raw male vocals, mostly clear female vocals though)

@5pike that's a tiny gun that someone mistook for a lighter (and accidentally shot her daughter with)

@5pike I think a thick sweater could stop a .22.

2:57 PM
Ah yea, cc @5pike

@Yuuki Heh, I wouldn't underestimate a .22

@GnomeSlice If you ever have a chance, I'd like to hear more about your thoughts on this

I seriously think they kinda missed the point of the movie.

Wait, they're already remaking that?
I mean, the Tom Cruise version was pretty cool

They're making a FOX series surrounding it

3:03 PM
@twobugs No, the series is a sequel to the movie.
The dude in the thumbnail is one of the pre-cog kids.

Weird. I wonder how much they'll actually have to go on.

Well, he can sorta see future murders, so I assume it will work off the premise of him buddying up with a cop to prevent them from happening.
I imagine the first season's bad guy will be a serial killer who may or may not have links to pre-crime but will definitely be really good at fooling pre-cogs (basically, the bad guy from the movie).

@Yuuki From watching the trailer, I am calling it now: The bad guy is his twn brother

@KevinvanderVelden If that's the case, I figure that his brother wants to shut down the possibility of pre-crime ever happening again.

They could start mixing PKD works and go real crazy. That would probably be an awesome trainwreck

3:10 PM
And to be fair, the philosophy behind pre-crime is somewhat disturbing.

Yeah. It's a pretty bizarre short story.

You're punishing people for things that they will do, but haven't done yet. Which may or may not be justifiable, depending how "sure" the predictions are.
Also, take into account the fact that, in the movie, you're imprisoning children in weirdo mind tanks to constantly tell the future for you. Which brings up the problem of the many vs. the few.

I think they mention in the movie that all it really did was eliminate pre-mediated murder. It didn't stop murder altogether

No, it caught heat of the moment crimes as well in the movie

Although they had significantly less warning time for murders that were not pre-mediated, they still had visions

3:14 PM
What the movie showed was that you could fake 2 crimes at the same time and get away with one if you go through enough trouble

@Yuuki yeah i dual slung heals and delevelers. i found a list on kolwiki

Was it always the same precog who saw through the stuff but got overruled by the others? I don't remember
I think they said at some point the girl precog had stronger abilities but her two brothers could overrule her if they both had the same vision

Uuh pretty much, their was a pair of twins in the set of three that always saw the same thing IIRC

Seems like a pretty massive design flaw :P

Well yeah, that was what the movie was pointing out
I'm gonna head home, @Arperum! I found the darkness you lost

3:17 PM
"Well, Wikipedia, this answer is clearly correct but Yahoo Answers says babby is formed differently so you're wrong"

@KevinvanderVelden I don't think they always saw the same thing.
But yeah, the main character in the series is one of the twins.

@Yuuki I don't remember, could be wrong
Been a while
Anyway, home time while the trains are still going

@PrivatePansy They don't even let you pre-load on steam
@badp AFAIK, it's a normal dvd

Even if you're a Steam-exclusive, you still should have a Steam backup on your physical game copy

@Frank @StrixVaria @Chippies Question! What's easiest/fastest way to go from 50 to 70? Bounties or nephalem rifts?

@Fluttershy rifts, definitely
unless you're in a party of 4, then idk
rifts are better exp always

@Fluttershy Do bounties to build up crafting mats which will be useful once you hit 70.
Rifts are generally more rewarding gameplay, so get the more boring stuff out of the way so you can focus on the fun part when you hit 70.
The fastest way is to get someone who's already geared on 70 to crush T6 for you while you leech.
And meeting time. Be back later.

@PrivatePansy Ahahaha
That's Konami for you

4:00 PM
Yeah, I like getting their myself, instead of leeching, but I know that can be pretty quick. But the mat saving is a compelling argument to stay with bounties... Hmm.
Thank you both for the input!

I hit 70 on my WD. One of the first set items I found was an ancient from that Helltooth set or whatever

@PrivatePansy Ahahaha.

Ugh... My phone autocorrected there to their, and I can't edit it from mobile. I feel unclean.

I guess this is the karmic balance from never finishing any build for the last 3 seasons
I also got a RoRG off my first A1 cache at 70, but I gather many of the final builds don't really use them (although they're very useful starting off)

@StrixVaria bounties give more mats on higher difficulties, so you may as well do them at 70

Q: Maximum trophies(multiplayer) that can be obtained

FennekinI used to think that maximum trophies obtainable in multiplayer attacks is 34. Because from my past experiences I have not seen a value greater than 34. Today while searching for an opponent in multiplayer I came across a village that would yield 40 trophies if I had 3 starred it.(however I ...

@PrivatePansy NOONE HAS STARRED IT YET

and even on lower difficulties, doing bounties at 70 is so much faster

BRIDGE I AM DISSAPOINTED IN EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU

Someone just did!

4:06 PM
(That someone was me)

I feel like paragon is super fast now. I did a few rifts and I'm like 70. My friend claims he has been "slacking" and is late 200s.

Oh.
:(

I've seen a 550ish

I unlocked the pet and first portrait frame during my lunchbreak.
I finally got a legendary ring from Kadala.

@Chippies I don't really see rifts giving particularly more experience than bounties, to be honest.

4:17 PM
@StrixVaria in my experience, they do

@twobugs I must not be b.net friends with you yet.

wife and I did whole bunch of bounties and got only couple levels, so we went back to rifts and got to 70 pretty quickly
my paragon is only 38 :o
but then again, I only got to 70 last night

Maybe. I probably wasn't paying much attention to experience gain, since I'm in no particular rush.

@StrixVaria I'm always in a rush, because I hate being sub-70

I'm not looking forward to when I run out of crafting mats and have to go back to bounties.

4:22 PM
@StrixVaria Or being forced to do normal rifts after a single grift run.

@Arperum I spent as little time as possible in grifts already.
Rifts > Bounties > Grifts
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> story mode

I'm doing bounties with wife now, they're really easy and quick

Find 5 whatevers bounties are new and awful.

My current season journey requires me to kanai cube 10 legendaries. ANd kill three sets of uber bosses
@StrixVaria They are the worst.

@Arperum Are there chapters after 4, because that seems a lot more grueling than my current goals.

4:24 PM
@StrixVaria Yeah, I don't think we are. My B.net is Rassium#1327 if you'd like to be friends

@twobugs StrixVaria#1578

@twobugs I added you

@StrixVaria That's the first chapter after 4.
It gives another portrait frame upon completion.

@Arperum I didn't even know it went past 4. I thought I was going to get my pet and then get to relax.

@StrixVaria It's just portrait frame upgrades though AFAIK.

4:26 PM
I've already cubed 4 legs, though, so I'm well on my way on that one. Plus it forces you to kill keywardens for 4, so fighting uber bosses is probably not too bad.

The pet is pretty nice though.
Nah, I got 2/3 uber fights done already.

Getting legs in every equipment slot is going to be the one that probably gates me the longest.

I added you both

@twobugs I'll accept tonight.

Also: grift 25 solo. and a gem to 25.
and a t6 rift in < 7 minutes.
and equip a follower with all legendary stuff.

I might not actually ever complete that, then.
Hopefully the power creep is enough to carry me through that T6 rift.

I got grift 20 yesterday.

5:01 PM
@twobugs what it boils down to, is I just don't think that kind of discourse is constructive, particularly on stackexchange
They were answerable questions. The asker shouldn't be required to explain his motivations for asking, or be harassed (which is what telling him to seek help for perceived disorders is).

5:14 PM
@GnomeSlice Where was this?

I guess my question is, where would you draw the line (if you would)? It sounds like you would prefer a more loosely regulated (but not-deregulated) style
@GraceNote Travel.SE, lemme grab the questions
travel.stackexchange.com/users/19359/user Several of this guy's questions

Q: Can I pass through the airport security with a de-activated Bazooka?

UserMy flight is from Washington, D.C. (IAD) to London Heathrow , with British Airways. Q: Can I wear a bulletproof vest while traveling on British Airways from Heathrow?

UserI'll be wearing it all the time anyway once I arrive at my hostile destination but how about wearing it during the flight? It makes sense to wear it in case someone try to hijack the plane.

Those are hilarious, but the're not completely unreasonable

I think the second one is pretty much unreasonable, and the asker himself all but admitted it was an intentionally ridiculous hypothetical

After being pressured to explain himself?
@user1298069 Since you believe that you should wear bulletproof clothing because of what you see in the movies, I believe the correct course of action would not be to wear a vest, but to seek professional medical help for possible paranoia-related issues. — sanchises Jun 1 at 12:50

@GnomeSlice This reminds me of when my friend asked on Home Improvement how to open his own garage, which he locked himself out of shortly after buying his house. They didn't want to answer because it was essentially instructions on how to break into garages, even though he had a legitimate problem he was trying to solve.

5:18 PM
@GnomeSlice Yeah, that's kinda rude

@twobugs "I'll be wearing this anyway when I land, so can I wear it on the plane?" is a reasonable question. The rest is silly, but that doesn't make the whole question bad

Yes I could understand that @StrixVaria
@GraceNote it has 68 up votes

I agree that the people on Travel.SE overreacted
But if you honestly believe you should wear a bulletproof vest on an airplane because of, and I'm quoting the asker "movies", you're out of touch

Who cares?

@GnomeSlice This

5:20 PM
It's a question and answer site
Answer the question or don't, don't harass the asker just because you personally think it's dumb.

Motive is useful for understanding why someone asks a question and for digging up a legitimate question if there is one buried in something that isn't.

Well I think the flipside to your argument of "this isn't harmful, it should be allowed" is that people should be able to comment and say "Hey, wearing a bulletproof vest on a plane is not necessary"

But if the question is legitimate to begin with, why fuss?

@twobugs And they did. But that doesn't make the question itself bad

@twobugs Saying it isn't necessary (as one answer goes in detail about) is one thing.
One equally acceptable thing.
But it's not the same as chastising the asker and suggesting they need medical help for paranoia.

5:22 PM
I have to go back to work in a few minutes.

It's confusing now because some comments have been deleted, but
People initially say "this is not going to help in the event of a hijacking"

@GraceNote they even made a meta post about the asker, although it was more restrained

Which to me is pointing out that the question is based on a faulty premise
But the asker insists it's not useless based on "movies"

@twobugs But he didn't just ask about a hijacking

The whole thing rings of trolling to me

5:23 PM
Well, I can see what you're getting at. But his initial questions is still answerable

Sometimes the fact that it's a faulty premise is the solution.

Yes

CoD Black Ops 3: League of Legends... is interesting... Advanced Warfare is still my favorite, but this one seems like good fun for a little while

Sometimes the question is illegitimate because of a faulty premise

That's true. I guess it could have been salvaged through editing

5:23 PM
K I have to go back to work

This doesn't look like it, though.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts @GnomeSlice

Q: How long do title revocation penalties last?

SMeznaricI want to revoke a couple of vassal titles and would like to spread out the penalties over a longer period of time. How long does an individual revocation penalty last for, and does the game track each revocation individually or simply just reset the timer every time you revoke?

Wait a minute. Are you guys saying you don't wear bulletproof vests on airplanes?

This might sound weird, but I also don't typically fly with gold bars or de-activated bazookas.

> BONE-DRIVEN ANIMATION CONTROLLERS
Hehehe

@Rapitor This is awesome. I wish I knew enough about graphics technology to appreciate it beyond "looks good mate"
But it's pretty clear that there are some very smart people working on the Unreal Engine

what like what goes on in the backend to make it so pretty?

@GnomeSlice it's societys responsiblity, and that's why we are in such a dang mess.

5:49 PM
Yeah. Graphics technology has always been way over my head but there's a lot of really impressive programming that goes on

@twobugs Wow this convo still going?! XD

math, lots and lots of math. with a bit of magic, and a dash of witchcraft

The wizards are all being bought up by Naughty Dog and Unreal, it seems
@djsmiley2k It sprung up again. I blame Sterno.

Yeah the math involved in graphics processing makes my head spin

I just remember reading about the tricks they had to pull to get Crash 1 working
That game was a technical marvel (that also probably inadvertently destroyed a few PS1 lasers)

Q: How do I get my friend elected mayor?

SMeznaricIf as a king I own an entire county, it used to be possible to simply grant some courtier a city title inside that county and that would automatically make them a mayor of the city (which could be used to create vassal merchant republics). I own the county of Genoa (where City of Genoa is the cap...

Q: How do I Install The GTA5 PLAY disk into a xbox360?

Brett JacobsI want to be able to play GTA V without the disk in case I ever lose the disk or it becomes broken. If I could get some help that'll be terrific.

@lazers first, create a superPAC
Then disenfranchise anyone who won't vote your way
And I forgot the third step... Oops
